I could see where this is is going. In a similar way to how in UtRH we had those exposition dumps to let the audience know who Dick and Jason are, as well as their relationship, we'll probably get some sort of flashback sequence of Barbara reliving her time as Batgirl.

BTAS had an episode where she died, when asked to tone it down they made it more brutal. The entire episode her death just serves to make Batman and Gordon fight.

Bruce isn't gonna cave to shit. He's hurt Babs before. For fuck sake he put her in a creepy awkward relationship with Bats. Do you really think he's going to just cave and cry misogyny?

If anything we'll get her a bit more fleshed out and maybe a scene at the end with her in recovery deciding to become Oracle. Essentially telling the story the way it would be told if it was done as a modern-day flashback would because in modern times that pain is a bit more important to her character.

Mostly because it was a deconstruction never meant to really be canon. It relied on the fact you knew who a lot of the characters were because, well, you did. At the time (not the case anymore unfortunately) it wasn't anyone's first Batman story. The people reading knew who Babs was which is what Moore relied upon.

So who is playing what characters?
Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill seem likely. I wouldn't mind Tara Strong for Barbara, but if they get someone else who's competent that's fine too. Jim Hastings is dead, so who should voice Gordon?

Any alternatives you'd also like to see? Any other characters you would like/hate to be thrown in? Will they get Robert Costanzo back for Harvey's tiny appearance? He did come back in Arkham Origins.

What sort of artstyle do you want? Something emulating Bolland as much as possible? More surreal colors to emulate the original release? Obviously no one wants it to look like the recolor. Would you be mad if it was Timm style?

Hamill and Conroy will be back 100%. I wouldn't be surprised to see Tara be Barbara, and if not her then maybe one from the Arkham games. Gordon has had a lot of voice actors, and a lot of them are good. If they want it to sound like the BTAS cast, the guy they got for The Dark Knight Returns was actually pretty close. I'd be fine with most choices here. Robert Constanzo would be cool, and he sounded the same in Origins as he did in the cartoon.

I hope they don't shoehorn in dumb characters where they don't belong. If I were to be fearful of anyone showing up it would be Harley. She's insanely popular, it's a Joker story, and Timm might be more willing to throw in one of his creations. Really hope not because there's really no need, I don't want to risk the possibility of her showing up with a shitty design that isn't her jester suit, and I REALLY don't want to hear Tara's dogshit Harley voice.

As for the artstyle, tbqh I actually wouldn't mind DCAU style, but I'd prefer something closer to the art of the comic, and the funky colors would definitely be a plus in my eyes.

Putting Mark Hamill on the project connects it in spirit to the DCAU and gets all the casuals excited. Since it has enough hype to do so, they're taking that "let the fans wildly speculate about everything and do our marketing for us" approach.

Because there are two DTVs that are coming out before it and they need to promote those first.

Generally we know three at a time, the first is being heavily marketed, the second gets a few teases until the first comes out, and the third is just nothing until the second comes out and then we learn about the next one around there too.
