my mom read pogo as a kid and introduced him to me
P Craig Russell embodies everything I love about graphic storytelling. His Ring Trilogy was my introduction to his work.

krystine does underground comics, very angular and angsty. not in the god tier, but this book, Understanding Comics, by Scott Mcleod, is. however, dick tracy may come close, as should scrooge mcduck, and the body of work by crumb (which varies in quality)

aha, now i know what to read by him. i always liked him but didnt know what to start with.
I am partial to this series, some of the most fun of mainstream superhero comics. not sure if its god tier, but its MY god tier.

I've yet to read a clunker of his. This is a great slice of counter culturey 80s sci fi. It's a bit dated, but the vibe and visuals are phenomenal

What's he doing lately?
Calvin and Hobbes, The Far Side, and Bloom County were definitely some of the best newspaper comics, at least.
