Help me out /co/. Guide me through my first comic. I'm set to go to a comic shop later today and buy my first comics. I want to get a few from a series in order. Like issues 1, 2, and 3. Mostly looking into Marvel since I'm most familiar with it.

I'm a huge Spidey fan so that's a place I'd be comfortable starting at. What should I do?

Amazing Spider-Man is the 'core' Spider-Man title at the moment, and it's the comic that follows his primary adventures. It's on issue...six? I think? right now, so it's a good time to pick that up from issue 1.
>>
For Spider-Man, if you would like some fun non-canon high-school adventures, Spidey (Thompson/Bradshaw) is a good read, as well.

Buy a trade.
They usually collect about 5 issues Pick one that has a cool cover.

What's a trade, how's that work? New to all this
>>78868703
Yeah because spidey has only ever been in comics
>>

I literally wrote a trade does. It collects issues. And yeah, sorry, but you can't be a "huge spidey fan" and never have read a single spider-man comic. You're a casual spider-man fan who likes 2 good movies and one good TV show with a season and a half.

He's a comic character, watching a few movies or cartoons doesn't mean you're a "huge fan".

>What's a trade, how's that work?
>New to all this

You could google all this shit.

man you two sound so stupid you can be a fan and not have read the comic >>78868887
and OP theres Trade Paper back wich collects around 6 issues and you can get omnibus which tend to collect a writes run meaning several arcs from begging to end go with TPB first i would say try some easy entry level stuff like CHEW, SAGA, the only spider man i am reading right now is spider man 2099 which is pretty fun or just choose something from my shelf in the pic you cant go wrong
>>
>>78869108
You can be a fan but a "huge fan". Nigga he's probably watched the raimi films and bought a Funko Pop and now he's a huge fan? Fuck outta here.

>you can be a fan and not have read the comic

Not really, he's a comic character, the absolute least you can do is read one comic featuring him.

I told him to buy a fucking spider-man trade that looks cool to him. There is no club but man, I sure am a huge Batman fan.

I saw The Dark Knight Returns and three episodes of the Brave and the Bold! Are you reading what YOU are writing?

Yeah it's not exclusive to Spidey. Considering GotG too among others. Is ANAD a good start or how far back should I be going? Kingdom Come was a recommended piece that I was shown and was interested in
>>
>>78869771
the movie GotG is pretty much its own thing i belive there is a incarnation of that team but the book wasnt that popular if i remember correct go to this webssite and read them there for free http://viewcomic.com/ and if you like a series buy that way your supporting your writer or hobby
