can we just get a marvel hate thread going?
i'm tired of what this company is doing to comics and it's completely bullshit that they get away with everything they do just because they appeal to SJWs
>inb4 marvelshills try to make it seem like ANAD Marvel isn't failing
Literally the only reason Marvel can wave around its larger market share is Star Wars
I used to be the biggest marvel shill until that book. It was the final straw. I loved the universe but their shitting on old characters instead of just making new ones was too much for me
>they get away with everything they do just because they appeal to SJWs
I'd argue it's the boat loads of money they get from owning multiple successful million dollar franchises. But nah you're right, it probably is some small group of people instead.
>Their whole system relies on outrage.
I like the way you use SJW's and shills, add another buzzword and you've got a hat trick going.
I recently got a subscription to Marvel Unlimited and I'm kind of regretting it. I keep looking for recommendations but nobody can give me anything. I don't want to turn this into some DC vs Marvel shitfling, but DC has some stories that are pretty well known as 'must read' Superman stories, Batman stories, etc. It seems like Marvel doesn't really have many 'essential' stories or runs besides big event stuff.
I tried reading that new Ms. Marvel, and the first few issues actually weren't bad. Then it started getting really overbearing with the whole WE MAKE STARWARS REFERENCES CUZ WE'RE NERDS, SHE WRITES FANFICTION CUZ SHE'S A NERD, ISN'T THAT KOOKY HOW SHE WANTS TO #REBLOG THAT SHE MET #WOLVERINE
THERE ARE HASHTAGS CUZ THAT'S WHAT USED ON THE INTERNETS AND WE'RE ALL NERRRRRDS SO WE KNOW THAT.
Will Jean at least be kind enough to later brainwash a cute guy into being Bobby's boyfriend?
>I keep looking for recommendations but nobody can give me anything.
What are you looking for exactly?
>new Ms. Marvel
if you're looking for a good teenage book, read Runaways or New Mutants v2/New X-Men v2.
Or original New Mutants if you don't mind Claremont.
I could randomly throw a dozen things at you, but I don't know how that would help.
I know this is a late reply, but really I'm fine with just about anything that's considered exceptionally well done. Preferably more adult than teen oriented, and relatively self contained. I'd like to avoid big crossover stuff like Civil War until I've read some of the good stuff for the individual characters.
Like, I have no idea what I should read for the core Marvel characters. Cap, Thor, Ironman, etc. I'd kind of like to start with them. I've already read a decent amount of Spider-Man and Deadpool but that's it as far as my Marvel history goes.
I've also heard that X-Men is kind of a huge clusterfuck as far as continuity goes, and for anyone besides Wolverine it's hard to find a good story you can enjoy without already having read a bunch of other X-Men stuff. So if that's true I might just put off reading anything X-Men for a while. Any good self contained stories are fine though.
