Shane is leaving RT.
How will this affect RWBY, RT and volume 4?
Basically Monty's right hand man. Animator and choreographer. He had a pretty big role in developing RWBY. This is another big setback for RWBY, especially for volume 4. RT must now find a new animator.
Don't know if this is an improvement or a shitty situation but why the fuck does he want to leave RT? Is he mixing personal life with work?
>They all refuse to use poser and want to use an actual program
The animation wasn't completed, the mo-cap was. They've said before that they literally animate until the last minute.
Wow, literally the worst run show in history
>2 of the main VA's quit
>Main animator quits
>Head writers also the directors
>Quality control is non existent
At least we still have Gray
That is a hell of a first post.
All we can really do is wait and see though, really things could easily get better, and would be hard pressed to get worse.
Either way, even if the show crashes burns and dies, the idea, the world and the setting can still bloom.
The only VAs that aren't still involved are dead and JJ "literally who" Whateverthefuckhislastnamewas.
And it's not like Yuri as Merc wasn't a huge upgrade.
But I agree on the rest. RWBY's management is absolute shit and we need to hook up a turbine to Monty's grave, because he's probably got enough spins to power the state of Texas right now.
>Also Adam's VA threw a bitchfit and quit RT too.
In what way is that at all bad?
>At best this will only impact the animation
>At worst it will impact everything.
Without the animation what do we have though?
Shitty writing and waifus, waifus without good animation or writing will not make most people stick around.
Hopefully they use the fucking money they have made to hire an animator that knows how to do the job beyond a self taught hackjobittogether and make it work.
What they did was by no means professional, well impressive, it is not good, it's like wiring a calculator in minecraft, then using it as a calculator for everyday use. The act of doing it is cool, trying to use it in practical application is not.
Please god not again.
Would be funny if the reason for this is he pitched ideas he got from reading the critiques people like us write argued over it and got canned for it.
I really don't know the the behind the scenes but-
It's not like the animation is stellar now
Pic related, text is not.
To be fair.
1. Matt and Woolie aren't the ones animating.
2. Matt and Woolie are in Skull Girls.
Shill this guy gents and lads!
Fair enough, but if it manages to get worse it will be jerky, inconsistant, and have absolutely no fluid.
Or they may just return to their roots and use recordings of Grimm Eclipse with voice overs.
Yeah, but in his shoes if I felt they were doing a disservice to my mentors work I would speak up about it.
And if they tried to brush me off I would get vocal. Just saying it is a possibility we may never know the specifics behind it.
RT to decide to kill it, that is all it takes, fans can only keep something afloat for so long before it just runs out of steam, Firefly is a good example of this.
Jesus Christ. I know she doesn't work there anymore. But that does not bode well.
The animation will now be even shittier
For fuck's sake
Firefly had and still has plenty of fans that think it is good.
RWBY might have more fans but the principle is the same.
Also most fans admit it is bad, if RT was to ax it tomorrow I am not sure how many would cling on, I know I wouldn't.
Oh god that is bad.
Please for the love of god can they hire a professional.
Person is obviously still has a lot to learn, and should not be working on a product you plan to sell.
But then it is Rooster "cut corners" Teeth
Well...I guess we'll always have mojo...
Well what shitty news.
So RWBY will slowly become worse over time?
I didn't actually think it could happen.
Let's take our minds off it with some lovely stuff.
Like the Amber fluff. Coming soon.
Well Neptune does fuck alot of fish.
He also Rapes some poor lass so that she becomes a Gorgon.
Neptune is a dick.
same thing here, it helped give me the motivation to try writing my own stuff.
it'll be shitty to see it go.
anyway some cute to get rid of the sad
Well this is something to wake up too
>So RWBY will slowly become worse over time?
Honestly seems like Monty was the glue that kept the whole thing together.
Also I think you are confusing Neptune King of the Sea and Neptune scared bitch of the land.
I also get the impression this was some kind of major/sudden thing. All of his tweets leading up to his leaving tweet mention doing flipping practice with Dillon Gu and just having fun. Not sure which side pulled the trigger metaphorically speaking, but he definitely kept it quiet social-media wise if he was the one who left.
I am excited!
>Neptune is a dick.
It's kind of funny. All members of SSSN that we know the basis for are;/were jerks.
Sun Wukong: Arrogant jerk pre-character development
Scarlet/Peter Pan: Peter Pan's book version was an awful little brat
Neptune: Already covered.
Honestly I'm more concerned with what's going to happen with Emerald. If he and RT didn't leave on good terms they may need another new VA.
On the other hand this may just be a part of RT moving away from Poser, which would be a nice change.
Hrm I guess a major creative difference then. That's a distinct possibility. This guy has been around since the trailers and like others have said, has worked with Monty for a long time. I could easily see it being a clash of change of direction of the series (tech/story/animation/tone etc), especially given that Miles&Kerry are currently leading the reins of the show, but Shane has technically been involved with it longer.
I am now gonna repost what I posted to cleanse that garbage from my brain.
I still reccomend you all shill this to miles on Twitter like I just did
>Honestly I'm more concerned with what's going to happen with Emerald. If he and RT didn't leave on good terms they may need another new VA.
>All these inter-office relationships
It's the one fucking cardinal sin of an office and this is the reason why you don't break it.
Oh...yeah that could be a problem. Then again considering the other VAs who parted ways with RT, they're still doing VA work for em, I doubt they'd stop doing it short of something really really nasty happening to Shane to precipitate this.
It's the fact it is 1500 pages 47000 topics of all nonsensical moon speak.
Seems a little odd for timing since it was all posted today.
Did RT piss off the nips?
It's different when you meet another employee there so that if one leaves the other can stay. It's another thing all together when people bring their spouses aboard with no ties at all so that if the employee leaves the other person can just drop everything
you never get family involved with your workplace for this reason specifically.
>RT accidently released the RWBY Japanese Dub episode where Michael does all Sun lines in fake, stereotypical sounding Japanese
Official word from him was "scheduling conflicts" but I have a feeling it was something more than that because as of RTX 2014, he was around the con saying he was eager to get back and continue voicing mercury. Something must have changed in a very short amount of time.
So guys do you think this is the end of rwby or do you think there is light at the end of the tunnel.
I don't remember the name of it, but it was about films/TV.
It was basically him and some rotating group of Blaine, Brandon, Chris, Aaron, and other non-Old Guard.
Officially RT-ES is on hiatus, so it wasn't canceled. Probably because Colton's in/writing that new NBC show and doing other things, plus gotta stay on decent terms in case Lazer Team gets a sequel.
>I doubt they'd stop doing it short of something really really nasty happening to Shane to precipitate this.
Yeah, I'm sure Shane still wants RWBY to be as good as it can be, considering he's been working hard on it for years, so I don't see why he'd want his wife to stop voicing Em unless RT really pissed him off
I don't mind. Maybe they'll actually get pro animators now. The fights can't be any worse than they have been this season.
As long as there's money in it Burnie will continue.
So who's these new lead animators in the vol 7 credits? Google'd them and I didn't find shit
I'm sorry, I'm so, so sorry
Really because colton responded in a few tweets that it got cancelled. Granted I think they're trying to downplay that aspect because the first time he posted it he deleted the tweet but then said it again when a fan asked him about it on twitter.
Damn look slike he deleted that one too.
No, but it was good.
Burnie said in one of his sponsor journals before leaving to do the Amazing Race and handing them to Matt that it was "officially on hiatus" and that they were going to evaluate everything. I think if they can find a way to make it get more viewers it'd be fine. The only thing I ever disliked about it was that one director guy Colton had on that was just going off on all these crazy tangents that Colton could only nod and play along with.
Dillon seems to be Shane's Shane, in the sense that Monty had Shane as an understudy-type. But Monty-Shane were together for 7 years. Shane-Dillon since Monty died. No idea on anything Dillon's actually done.
>RT trying to out Trey and Matt Trey and Matt
A rich anon could always buy it, or just buy RT fire everyone and hire competent people, and rehire anyone who is competent with real contracts. But do we have any rich anons here that could do it?
They were the guys doing the bitchwork on RvB 13. Shane was probably shuffled out to make room for an animation upgrade.
>Plan G gone
>Jeremy is an evil mastermind second only to Ryan
>Geoff half assing everything
One of the better ones.
>mfw episode 200 soon
Hrm, well I guess that paints it in a better light then, particularly since Colton still seems to be on good terms with RT.
And yeah I'm definitely concerned about losing Shane at this point in the season. The fact that he left mid season, and a supposedly major season at that leads me to believe some not-insignificant conflict caused the split. I really hope Dillon or somebody was working hard under him to keep things rolling.
True, but cleaning up mocap data and importing it into poser is a right bitch from what Shane has tweeted about in the past. Apparently it requires a lot of work to sync the animation and the mocap together.
No. It's the RT way. Just one of many reasons why RWBY turned into the mess it is. The show was doomed from the start when Monty decided to use RT as the company to make his dream come true.
Perhaps he looked deep into his Waifus eyes and saw the soulless expression that had been made of her, and quit because it was his obligation to his Waifu.
>Joel Mann & Dustin Matthews are listed as head animators in Vol 7's credits
>Shane ups & leaves, claiming that "things did not go as planned"
>Shane Newville, the late Monty Oum's right-hand man got cucked by RvB 13 bitch boys
Honestly if he was quitting on his own terms it should have been after the season ended, because it is still experience he can use to help get better jobs, and staying until the season is over looks a lot better then quitting mid season.
But I honestly have a feeling he was fired, looking at the way he worded it, it feels melancholy.
So it's pretty much just RT is going to continue dropping employees like flies and they're going to finally be forced to hire pros? Worked for the VAs, so this is fine by me.
Did Joel and Dustin really animate RvB?
>Had a shitty day
>Comes to RWBYg for his daily dose of SillyShit
I guess it's time for another evening of alcohol and JonTron
>As you leave the bar you strech lightly.
>Your house isn't too far away.
>Just follow the path to the left, past the trees and turn right at the broken statue.
>For once you feel tired.
>As you get to your house you notice.
>The door isn't locked. It's never locked.
>Opening the door you throw your coat onto the chair near the door.
>It's never locked, it wouldn't be right to lock the door.
>The people around here are trustworthy.
>Hell they even leave gifts.
>Sometimes you find an apple on the coffee table in the living room.
>Sometimes it's a pile of money.
>Sometimes it's one of the kids leaving a note and a plate of mostly not burned cookies.
>As you lay your head down to sleep you find yourself in a strange dream.
>It starts out like any other.
>You dream about fighting a tough Grimm, about how your apprentices will end up.
>Then it all shifts.
>You're sitting under a willow tree with Amber.
>Holding her hand, looking up as the sun shines through the branches.
>Everything is peaceful.
>The air is still.
>The silence is filled with the sounds of training.
>The kids try hard with practice, smiling moor than usual.
>Amber tugs lightly on your shirt with her free hand.
>As you turn to her you move your down slightly.
>Placing your own free hand on her face you both lean in for a kiss.
>Then light hurts your eyes.
>It's a shame, such a good dream too.
>Moving over to see your scroll the time lights up on the screen.
>For some reason one of your arms is being crushed.
>Sometimes a cat or some other animal craws into your room.
>Other times it's one of the kids.
>Today... it's... heavier.
>As your turn your head to look you see brown hair.
>Snuggled into your chest, you didn't notice how exactly?
>The first thing you think of is "what the fu-"
>You finally feel awake enough to recognise faces
>The intruder moves just enough for you to get a good look at her face.
>"Amber." you whisper.
>they're going to finally be forced to hire pros
You're joking right? All RT ever does is find people at Gamestop and the local college because they know they'll be treated like Gods.
most likely either he wanted more control and freedom and wasn't given it or he just wasn't where he wanted to be at this point in his career and RWBY couldn't further it like he hoped
Has Shane's Twitter always had some of the letters with slashes and what look like Korean on it?
Joel was co-lead for RvB 13 according to his twitter. Don't know too much though
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LicHrvyFyxQ Replace the cheat with Amber Anon and you get how I feel right now.
>Are RT run by idiots?
Is this a rhetorical question?
>Did Shane hurt their feelings?
I wouldn't be surprised.
Alternatively he might have quit because Montys death is still eating him up, which is also why he wouldn't go into detail about it on social media because it is frankly a private matter, but that is another reasonable explination.
Alternatively he may feel the series was being a done a disservice and spoken up about it, if it was my mentors dream and it was not getting the treatment I felt it deserved I would sure speak up.
This this this
You never quit mid project, especially on something as visible as a publicly released show. Any cursory research will show a lead team member, who's been with the company for years, abandoning a project midway. That looks really bad to potential employers. Granted I'm sure he'll find work fairly quickly given his resume, but it still looks really bad from a hiring perspective.
>who is vic mignogna
>who is yuri lowenthal
>who is frodo
>who is laura bailey
This general being what it is there was probably like a 50% chance you'd say yes. It was worth a shot.
Oh look, the retard is a namefag, what a surprise.
Three of those work at Funimation and do dubs for them nearly every anime season, not to mention all the voice work for games they do.
Either way, they are making money, and probably don't have contracts as seen by people just freely quit.
So it is a good deal, and probably makes them a fair sum of money.
Sarge would be a massive improvement, and would actually be relevant
Don't you dare remove predator.
Sarge can sit on his lap.
I love how most new RT fans only see Matt as this hardass, no nonsense CEO when in reality he is probably the funniest of the original 5 and one of the funniest people at RT as a whole
I said the VA's that are doing the dubs like Vic and Yuri are old hat, if you had any sense of understanding. They joined up with RT because they need VA gigs to stay relevant to their target audience, and RWBY was an easy mark for them to join on. It would be like a low budget Sci-Fi channel movie getting a call from a A-list actor to play in a crappy movie. It's not like they would refuse.
>tfw matt will never voice a RWBY character
>most people haven't seen BGC
>Damn I feel old
Me too bud, I started watching in the interim between S1 and 2 of BGC, hell I remember watching the strangerhood when it first aired too.
Does any one find it funny that the latest chapter of rwby is called the Beginning of the end considering everything that is going on now.
> Honestly I'm more concerned with what's going to happen with Emerald. If he and RT didn't leave on good terms they may need another new VA.
emerald is one of my favourites
I find it funnier that none of Yang's teammates even consider that something is wrong with the Merc match when they were all present as they saw Yang punch at Neo's illusion when she and Roman made their getaway
>Season of 60 hour work weeks finally over
>Can finally start doing some writing
>Sony is trying to copyright 'let's plays'
>Geoff owns the copyright to the term 'Let's Play' iirc
>RT has the Let's Play channel
This fucking day man
>I might stop watching if they stop using an outdated animation program
yeah, it sucks.
There is potentially one scenario in which this might be good.
>WB made their move, wants a whole team of professional animators for RWBY now that Monty's gone, might even have a clause in the contract that leaves RT no choice
>Shane objects because he thinks he could recapture Monty's signature style, he just needs more time
Given what the fights that Monty hadn't already been working on have looked like this volume, I might actually side more with WB in this scenario.
RWBY's writing is definitely plot pulling characters instead of characters driving plot. This shouldn't even come as a surprise to me any more but it still irks me when these logic holes come up. shit
>Shaking her you continue whispering to her lightly.
>She stirs, looking up at you.
>"Good morning" you both said at near enough the same time.
>Her fingers were clearly licked into your own.
>You couldn't feel it because of how she lay on your arm.
>Amber looks around nervously.
>"I-I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to but.. the Inn was so cold and I couldn't sleep. Then I came here and it was just so... warm and I couldn't help it."
>Her excuse was... just awful.
>If Amber had said that she has a habit of sleep walking you might've bought it.
>You want to play along with it but a knowing smile is the only reaction you can muster.
>As you open your mouth to speak you can't help but notice what Amber is wearing.
>Is that appropriate for sleeping?
>It's quite daring.
>She follows you eyes and blushes wildly.
>A fluffy white pillow is all it takes to defeat your balance.
>She dives on you.
>Her face is still bright red, you're unsure if this is her attempting to hide her embarrassment or if she did it as a reflex.
>A brief but playful tussle began.
>It ended just as quckly with her completely dominating you.
>Amber sat atop your abs, smiling triumphantly.
>"I win." Amber said, a totally (by your standard) undeserved sense of supiriority.
>You look up at Amber, her form isn't hidden at all.
>Her bra and knickers cover the other wise 'important' bits.
>Admiration of this woman fills you
>You can see something that remsebles the feeling in her own eyes staring back at you.
>You could stay like this till the rest of the moon crumbles and it'd end too soon.
>A moment passed and Amber looked down.
>Her eyes widened and she jolted off your body, dashing for the bathroom.
>Her cry faded as she closed the door.
>With a stretch you stand and put on the pants of your own night clothes.
>This is the best start to a day you have ever had.
>Walking out of your room you pass the bathroom door.
>They joined up with RT because they need VA gigs to stay relevant to their target audience
You should probably stop pretending you know anything about these VAs right about now. RT is right by Funimation, they just hired the VAs that they think are best.
Far from anything official but star boy seems to think Rwby will be fine
We don't know what's Neo's Semblance is, especially now that it's been confirmed that it's Emerald who puts up illusions. It could have been Roman's Semblance.
Be realistic. Ruby, Blake and Weiss, the entire stadium saw the exact same thing; Yang broke Mercury's leg after his Aura went down. Yang saying "But guys I swear he attacked me first!" is not gonna cut it. Seeing is believing.
It depends on how they went about it.
If they wanted to give him oversight of the animation to make sure the style was right, that would be something reasonable.
If they wanted to cut him out entirely because they felt he was not up to Monty level yet. That is a dick move.
But it is pretty shit either way because I don't see them clamoring to hire professional writers, so I sincerely hope this is not the real scenario.
Monty confirmed that Neo's semblance was illusions, and it was in the Director's commentary too. Em's semblance is pretty obviously hallucinations, not illusions, hence why not everyone can see them and why she made the "Two minds" comment
Illusions are a tangible thing in terms of light and possibly sound, they just have no physical mass. Thus, they can be viewed by everyone, and no one, not even the wielder or their allies, would be immune. Hallucinations affect someone's brain, specifically what their senses tell them.
I didn't say anything was wrong with RT going to Funi for VA's. I just thought with the majority of the RWBY cast being mostly unknowns that it seems odd to use well known VA's from anime dubs, especially when every time I hear somebody talk about them doing a voice, they all groan in disappointment.
>let's automatically connect these random students to the villain we fought weeks ago
>of course these kids would want to sabotage Yang! There's no possible way Yang would punch a guy who possibly insulted her in front of thousands of people
You're the one that wants logic thrown out the window, buddy.
I think he or the company as a whole applied for the copyright. However apparently it's hotly contested by several companies and theyr effuse to give the copyright to any one company as of yet
The atmosphere in this thread today inspired me to finish pic related sometime tonight.
>mfw Amber becomes Handsome Jack from "Tales from The Borderlands"
This is very true, logic can be eschewed if you have good writing, look at most scifi and fantasy stuff, logic goes flying out the window on a flying purple pig, but the writing can still be good and give you an engaging story.
Except I'm talking about how people like platypus complained when it actually did follow logic for once.
Nigger what? How the FUCK was it shitty writing if it made complete sense? No one is going to just assume there was an illusion semblance involved when Yang punched him, especially given the anger filled brawl she had in her last round.
It would still be shitty writing because no matter what her character, it's in the second person and you're trying to convince an audience that her falling in love with something with even less character is possible.
>Show cities with varied cultures
>technological advancements in the walls as well as poverty outside it
>social and economical divide
>hunters being treated as heroes or monsters
Or just copy a Witcher trailer
Show peoples day to day lives.
Show practical application of dust.
Show what hunters fighting in the field are like.
Show that grim are actualy dangerous outside the cities.
Show what the seas are like.
Show towns and villages outside the walls, how are they built, how safe are they really, how do they stay safe.
>I just thought with the majority of the RWBY cast being mostly unknowns that it seems odd to use well known VA's from anime dubs
No you didn't.
>who is a bunch of old-hat VA's with nothing better to do with their time and try to stay relevant
You acted like these VAs haven't done anything and are desperate for work, which I proved to you isn't true.
So what would cause the biggest shit storm/shakeup if there was a bad break up?
God, imagine if someone cheated with someone else in the office.
Personally I'm good with it. I like the idea of someone as competent and confident as Amber having moments of being feisty or unintentionally assertive in making a move to be cute when coupled by realizing what she's doing and getting shy.
>inb4 seas aren't dangerous at all
I want to see grimm version of sea monsters
I always imagined that Patch's main export was from it's fishing industry and that local fishers would hire students from Signal to protect them while out at sea
Could make for a cool summer job for Yang and Ruby
Well I'm technically still on the bed with my phone so I'm going to tell you right now that it's a
I already lost interest on it awhile back with the Volume 2 hiatus plus Monty dying really killed off any hope I had for the show. But this general seems to put more faith to it than I ever did so might as well give the new volume a chance.
So in a way, probably not.
But I will drop in from time to time during Late Night because I've grown accustom to it when I can't sleep occasionally.
Surely they'll look at this and decide to hire at least one professional animator, considering Monty and Shane handled the bulk of the fights and they now have neither of them
It's not like RWBY doesn't make enough money for it to be worth it
>Specialized weapons for fighting underwater
>Underwater fight scenes
I got to say, a lot of people really don't get that RWBY was always an ensemble cast thing, and that in development Monty himself decided he liked JNPR enough to basically make them a secondary protagonist group.
Of course a lot of that interest probably has to do with like, backstory and character development stuff we still haven't seen yet because, y'know >pacing
>nothing wrong with a self insert
I can't take it anymore RWBY. I don't want to see what this show or my waifu will evolve into. I'll just be sticking around here where my headcannon is safe.
i need somebody to tell me that the bug will emerge from this unchanged
i don't need it to be sincere I just need to believe it
Even having them be the focal point isn't bad so long as the writing is good.
For instance if you read Lovecraft, Randolph Carter is a self insert, but he is also well written and interesting.
>I thought Monty did the EM vs CY fight
He's dead Anon
I'm afraid it might be over for us bug posters
I'm sure, unless Shane and RT had a SERIOUS fucking disagreement, he wouldn't want his wife to stop voicing Em. After all, he did work very closely with Monty for years on RWBY, and he'd want his late friend's show to be as good as it can
No, I mean like legit authors who write novels, books and movies. They always put themselves into their work in some form or another just to add a piece of themselves into the story. Again though, they tend not to make them the center of the universe or anything like that
Are you fucking retarded? The point was she showed everyone she can't control her emotions, and that her anger filled attacks have always been present. It's very possible Merc insulted her in front of the audience, and it's very believable to RWB that she would punch him given what everyone saw during the WYvsFN fight.
>when did I say they were desperate
>they need VA gigs to stay relevant to their target audience
>nothing better to do with their time and try to stay relevant
This is literally desperation. I already showed to that they get tons of work and you've done nothing but backpedal since then trying to change your argument.
That's a pretty far-fetched assumption of Yang's personality that she can't control her temper that badly and would punch anyone at the slightest insult. With that supposition, I'm surprised Yang shippers haven't cast her as a wife beater.
>people worried about Shane snatching his wife away from voicing Emerald
are people fucking autistic
Shane was Monty's bro for the entire show. Even if he left on bad terms, I highly highly doubt he'll attempt to sabotage Monty's work by cutting off his wife from voicing Em.
People are panicking over nothing anyways. The RWBY
subredditis going fucking nuts about how RWBY is going to change and how Volume 3 is already so different without Monty.
Bullshit. The show has barely changed at all. It's the same it's always been. People are just placeboing themselves to think it's different or worse now since Monty's gone.
