You see that Peri up there? She looks more malicious that the last one. That's not the same Peri at all! Peridot can be replaceable, she's not unique at all. So pretty much this is how it's going to go down. YD will go down to earth or (or some other elite gem), will try to find Jasper and finish what they have to do. Throughout the process alley Peri will die by sacrificing herself, or will die from her betraying YD. Once she's died, her gem will be crushed. Jasper captures Lapiz and they all leave back to homeworld, and a new loyal Peri will be added to replace the old Peri. Face it, they will not change the intro to add more gems.

I see the Lion is her other half theory as really unlikely. I can't imagine gems being able to produce a whole separate entity from themselves, since their gem is basically their whole being.

What if the Diamonds fused with some lifeless component to gain more power, Rose unfused with her component and that was the rose metal.

So either Pearl's design is just unique for the sake of contrasting character design or she actually was a White Diamond Pearl if the theory that the placement of a Diamond's Pearl corresponds with their own gem is true, which would then make one wonder, if Rose was once Pink Diamond why wouldn't her Pearl also have a similar design scheme?
