The big two have been hit-and-miss operations for as long as I can remember; this is just a particularly fucked-up miss. At all times they've simply wrote to the audience; the targets being whatever's young and new and "in." Right now that's what an average /co/mrade would refer to (both obtusely and inaccurately) as a tumbler-fag, but in general includes the post-millennials raised next to/on top of a layer of the actual millennials; who may be the most self-entitled generation yet. On one hand this means that, on some level they should be taking themselves much less seriously and have fun, but on the other it also means that A: They suck at that apparently, and B: no audience knows what exactly it wants, and unlike most audiences who think they want one specific thing, and/or know they don't know, the millennials/posts think they want everything and demand to get all of it simultaneously. As such, most mediums are pretty fucking chaotic right now as they try to please everyone at all items, like they always do, and end up failing not only due to the principle nature of that notion, but also because they're trying to appeal to some of the most obtuse generations within their self-imposed age demographic in a very long time.

And, to actually answer your question, no. I enjoy (most) of the movies more than most of the Marvel comics I've read in the last 5-6 years. Fraction's Hawkeye was pretty good, and Deadpool's been real hit-or-miss, but on the large I've kinda' stopped reading marvel; at least for now, until some title comes along and I start picking up some universal praises for it. Ghost Rider was pretty good for a bit there too, but Secret War fucked it up with Ghost Racers.

That story is pretty boss, but It's by far not the only good one. Check out Strange's first fight with Shuma Gorath. I can't remember the issue numbers, but the entire arc leading up to and including it is classic Strange awesomeness. Original Ditko Strange is cool too.
