Final arc of tshirt and jeans Supes begins..
If you are wondering how I got this so fast, I storytimed the preview earlier and already have the first few pages saved.
My opinion is that it went from something good to kind of a letdown in all honesty. I was liking lesser-powered Supes, but I just wasn't fully enthralled by the truth arc, like it doesn't feel as strong as it should be. It has ideas, but not enough fleshing with those ideas.
Alright, I have the rest of the issue downloaded. Rest of the storytime should go quicker.
labeled it wrong, also labeled this page wrong. Rest of it should go smoother.
Main series was a let-down
I've always disliked Gene Yang's writing, and it stood true therebut Pak's work has pure Supes.
The fact that the genie's gonna be put back in the bottle by the end of the year is what bums me the most. Encapsulated DCYou's+FCBD Divergence unfulfilled promises.
Really enjoyed this issue, great art and writing.
...Sadly, I have a feeling Tomasi will fuck it up.
The art is fine in some situations, less so in others. Not really sure why that is, but I generally do like Kuder on Superman.
I'd prefer it is Evan Shaner started working for DC.
It's okay, but even though the Superman book is essentially the main story, it seems, Pak's work on Action is way more interesting and well written imo.
I hope this ends with him getting a new costume with the undies.
>I hope this ends with him getting a new costume with the undies.
This is the cover to Superman/Wonder Woman 27 which is one of the last issues of Savage Dawn.
It looks like Supes is definitely getting a redesign alongside Wondy.
And while there's no trunks it looks really good by sheer virtue of fewer lines and no mandarin/trevor slattery collar.
>And while there's no trunks it looks really good by sheer virtue of fewer lines and no mandarin/trevor slattery collar.
This is an acceptable compromise.
Also I like how that Wondy costume seems to be taking from Fabok's design in JL. Or the movie I guess.
Fuck yes. Way to go Pak. Am I wrong for seeing this as an allusion to the Batman/Superman issue where Superman and Atom shrank into Batman to remove something from his brain?
Well, it makes sense.
Superman is the paragon of goodness, and someone that the public thinks would never and COULD never lie. Then they find out that he's been lying to them this whole time, and that he's been, in essence, defrauding the paper that he works for and using forged documents to get by...
I mean, I know it's Superman so we automatically give him a pass because of course, but...you have to admit, the secret identity thing really is pretty screwed up when you sit down and think about it.
Not to mention when you consider the villains that knew who he was, and where he lived and slept and worked. All those people that he surrounded himself with? They were all in an incredible amount of danger, constantly.
Pretty good issue. The superman powerless started out strong but has been kind of a let down since. Pak as usual was pretty on point. However, I have not been a fan of superman being an asshole without his powers, and pining after them.
Superman in the past has wanted nothing more then to settle down, but can't because he has powers thus a responsibility. With people like Wonder woman and Shazam superman can leave the world in good hands. Instead he mopes about how he isn't the most special person anymore, which is way out of character.
To be fair, he was more of an asshole on Superman/WW but then again, Tomasi cant write then worth shit, and Gene on superman too, action comics was him doing all those incredible adventures and shit
>That first arc with Swamp and ivy
>The second arc with easy company and Enemy ace
it was too good for us
Man every time I try to get into the New52 I just get angry, I cannot believe they are still pushing this stupid Superman and Wonder Woman shit and I can't recognize half the characters in these terrible costumes.
It's just a real down when stuff like Prez and Martian Manhunter is so good yet any time I go near the main universe it just makes me nostalgic and disappointed, especially because Superman is my favorite.
It was never really framed as if she did anything wrong. Not much to fix besides her and Clark fighting over their communication issues. They have shown both of them trying to get over it and fix that friendship though, so you know it's coming.
I don't know if I'd characterize them as barely friends. The whole identity reveal arc in itself really poured on how they're really close.
On Lois and Clark they should have just gotten Bryan Q Miller, at least he made them cute in Smallville. Jurgens is always a mistake.
>And while there's no trunks it looks really good by sheer virtue of fewer lines
But that's a bad thing you simplicity fag piece of fucking shit. And I say that as only a faint fan of Jim Lee.
>it took them what, 5 plus years to realize the costume was terrible?
But it wasn't terrible in anyway shape or form unless your a autistic shit stain that needs comics to be as depthless and detailess as possible or your ass goes into hellish pain, fuck you mother fucker.
>This is an acceptable compromise.
But the trunks are a sin against fucking god and nature and one of the worst mistakes in the fucking history of comics that has destroyed Superman's credibility as a badass for 75 fucking years.
> that has destroyed Superman's credibility as a badass for 75 fucking years.
Look at the other Superman designs from around the same time. Earth-2, Earth-23, Smallville, hell even Man of Steel is better. All of them still manage to have detail without being shit. The armored look with all the lines for no reason is just plain ugly.
That's not a redesign, it's just a lazy cover
Wonder Woman's costume is an attempt at this
MOS/BVS is the best outfit he has ever had in his fucking existence.
And no earth 2 was just as bare minimum and shit as possible.
THE LINES ARE THE REASON, the break it up so it doesn't look like a 1960s comic with no fucking depth or rendering whatsoever.
