Just a reminder.
Marvel believes being a woman equals superpowers.
It's a reference to how women were feared for being more in touch with nature, which made them adept of witchcraft, and how they would go into the woods every solstice or whatever to have sex with the Devil, which in turn is a myth propagated by christianity in an attempt to make people fear pagans.
Englehart went with Nature and womanhood to go along with her probability powers. This was Wanda's independent of Chthon.
Busiek went her probability powers and magic is all Chthon.
The big two believe whatever makes them money.
If you don't like it, find a way to make the opposite profitable or shut your fucking Commie cockhole and take it like an American-made aluminum strap-on.
Hey man, if you're too afraid to hit that then you can't blame ol'Lucy for picking up the slack.
Why do you think we wack off so much now? We've got our cocks ready to ward him off and keep the apocalypse away.
You mean Wanda's take? Yeah, I know, the writers are going by massive propaganda pumped into westerners' brains.
The winners dictate the truth, right?
Pagans were burned and decapitated, so they don't have much say in the matter.
remember when DC tried to imply that a society made of solely women could be a utopia?
>Gypsy raised by slavs
>ancient pagan religions linked to the energy of earth and womankind
>wanting to put your dick in a literal human sewer
I actually liked Scarlet Witch quite a bit. The "feared by men" thing adds an interesting aspect to what they're trying to do with the character. The plot is a little too familiar but the art and characterization is great.
>gender-based magic and witchcraft steeped in femininity
>less violent and a lot more cooperative than men.
The ole "men and women are equal, but women are better at it," routine. Try opening up a Captain America or Hawkeye book that explicitly stated he was much more qualified than women for his role because they just "don't understand" conflict/wafare.
THAT'S the problem. Women are allowed to publicly wallow around in "what makes them better" but a man would be ostracized from modern, polite society for even QUESTIONING whether or not men may be better suited for some tasks than women.
For instance, what if Thor's hammer would only ever consider males worthy. What if women were just afraid of weapons and implements of warfare?
After-all, men are the "more violent" ones.
Men are Orcs. We fight to rid ourselves of weakness and backstabbing is much more likely to be literal. But in general, we assume places in a hierarchy fast and mostly stick to it.
Women are far more complex in terms of how they keep themselves down. Its more like stockroom trading of favors and grudges. But they tend to keep their numbers higher since social position is so fluid then a knife to the back won't advance you as far as embarrassing them.
Also, Orc chicks are fucking hot. That's very important to understand.
So if you beat the shit out of a man enough, he'll become a little girl?
Women power magic didn't retcon her probability/hex power.
Chthon as a plot point was weakening her natural abilities so she would turn to magic to power them up and unknowingly become a better vessel for him.
They were a addition to her natural abilities.
She was a mutant, not a magician, jesus christ.
You talk about her natural abilities, like she was Dr Strange with vagina.
The reason she was called a witch, because mutants were treated like witches, something devilish, unnatural. But what do you know?
This could've been an interesting thread about women's role in mythology as being the most dangerous thing a man could face (sirens, nymphs, mermaids), or about satanism and paganism and how much it was molded by the inquisition.
Instead, let's just all cry about women getting it easy.
/co/ really is the second gayest board.
But Orcs were superior to Elves.
Men inherit Middle Earth from Elves when they return to the islands in the west of Arda, Orcs inherit Middle Earth when man wipes itself out and goes to Eru (possibly). Dwarves don't have an end and remain eternally. The Wood Elves hide so far in the forest they drop from the sight of time.
Everyone just kind of forgets Hobbits exist.
>a) men and women are equally capable of everything
>b) there are certain things men are better at
>c) there are certain things women are better at
I see a lot of C that both masquerades as A and is morally repulsed by B. THAT'S my problem. Especially in the "creative" community.
I never got why jack kirby find a gypsy jews to be worth a character background
Its the same with Doctor Doom every time I see him I'm like grossed out cause he's a filthy gypo, it takes away so much from his 'badassness"
Only American would find gypsy's to be sympathetic
Her mutant power was probability manipulation/hexes.
Learning Magic under Agatha was her shonen power up when they went to shit because of Chthon not a retcon replacing her mutant power.
She started off as a mutant and character/plot development lead her to becoming a actual witch as well as a mutant. Or do you think any time someone gets a new power it's a retcon?
>satanism and paganism and how much it was molded by the inquisition.
The actual Inquisition was concerned entirely with Christian heresies and the sincerity of Muslim and Jewish converts.
Elves refused to industrialize and mankind was really really slow at it.
Mankind was basically struggling with the concept of gunpowder while Orcs had machinery and interchangeable parts.
Also remember the concept of Orcs being ugly, smelly monsters came from adaptations. In the source material they were just sweaty from labor, had diets largely consisting of meat and alcohol, were blackened by their machine work, and added spikes to things to show rank. Basically how Tolkien, scarred by WW1 and with his country being bombed as he was writing the trilogy, viewed Germans.
So your analogy falls apart since it relies on the idea that men are closer to God, destined to ascend to heaven as saints because they're too pure for this world and too retarded to adapt to it while women assemble massive armies, pioneer technologies, and make cannons modernize while men almost literally left in the stone age.
tl:dr you're saying being a woman is a superpower
>but a man would be ostracized from modern, polite society for even QUESTIONING whether or not men may be better suited for some tasks than women
For like the last 20-30 years out of several thousand
Nature > Industrialization.
That's what women don't get. Living in harmony with nature is more satisfying than creating a world, where you are a slave to the corrupted system. But you should be happy. We live in a world where Orcs rule.
>Living in harmony with nature is more satisfying than creating a world, where you are a slave to the corrupted system
Getting your shit kicked in by wild animals, dying if something goes wrong giving birth, a broken leg equals a death sentence and getting simple cut can lead to a dangerous infection that could kill you without medical treatment is what the mother goddess wants.
The Inquisition had nothing to do with the Salem Witch Hunts. Most of what we consider to be the result of the Inquisition was actually secular groups or Protestants.
The Salem Witch Hunts also had a host of factors surrounding them, many of which are debated to this day, but did have a heavy undercurrent of pre-existing grievances, legal disputes, and land appropriation.
Elves weren't hugely in touch with nature, that's just a trope.
They were about refinement and faith.
An Orc acquires power. A man acquires power. An Elf simply has power, and neither seeks nor trusts it.
Orcs practice war, Elves practice song, man does both but clumsily.
Elves are eternal; all of creation is a reflection of God and Elves are part of his body. Men are part of God's spirit and thoughts, they simply appear in the world then disappear from it back into God himself as if they'd never existed. Orcs, originating as Elves, are also part of God but are a reflection of his strength, the muscles and sinew beneath the skin.
>Robinson will never be cool again
What happened to you James?
>what is herbal medicine
>what are cute puppies
get a load of that steampunker
Harmony means that you know the opportunities, but also threats, and you learn to live with them. It's not a rocket science
Piss off 40kfag, Elf-fucking resulted in the death of Slaanesh. Your faggot Emperor couldn't even survive his followers turning on him.
>It's reasonable considering women are less violent and a lot more cooperative than men.
Marvel is just the worst
DC is also shit
Trolls were shaped from stone by Melkor, the embodiement of God's unpleasant emotions like Envy and Wrath, because he was pissed off that God's happy emotions had shaped Elves, Dwarves, and were getting ready to make men later on in history. Melkor later kidnapped some of the Elves and corrupted them into Orcs.
So in a way they're related, but only in a very vague way.
Then later on Melkor had a giant spider everyone was scared of eat most of the light in reality, and kidnapped a human shota to make his Greek friend. When Melkor was banished from the world, his shota pet became Sauron and tricked Atlantis into becoming Satanists so God would sink it as part of an elaborate trolling scheme.
You do realize that we have something called mineral water to drink? Or berries to eat. Do you know how many dishes you can do with 2 berries? A lot.
Be alternative-man, not carnivore-man. The meat you eat and blood you drink is clouding your reason.
What the fuck is this shit? Elves did some nasty blood thirsty shit in the first age and they were always war like and getting into everyone's business before the third age when they decided to pussy out and abandon Middle Earth
Pretty much. In the beginning there was nothing but God, then God embodied all of his emptions as living beings, called angels or even gods later by mortals, and lead them to sing in a choir.
As they sang their melodies mixed, and Happiness singing with Bravery caused both to gain a bit of each other, basically giving emotions to his emotions until they were all people.
Melkor quickly became prideful and began singing his own song, confusing some of the others into singing with him. God kept trolling him by making him the dissonance to his harmony, the harmony to his dissonance, making Melkor's seperate song into a chord.
Then when the song ended he told them all to turn around. Their somg had created all things, from sky to earth. He told them to go down to the planet and shape it, and Melkor was a little shit who turned the calm oceans stormy, the tranquil Earth barren and volcanic, and the gentle breeze into a storm. Just as God planned.
They didn't know it, but their song was fate; everything that ever will happen in our concept of time is in the song. The exception is the creation of Dwarves, who were an accident that God added to the song later.
Wanda's battles with Chthon have a strong feminist undertone while being a compelling narrative.
Wanda could arguably fare better in the cheeky Elder God's pocket dimension than Strange (who got raped hard) given she has the in-built resistance that comes with having a fraction of his essence in her)
I hope Robinson has not ditched that in favour of some shallow.
And if you don't like it, you can go watch anime!
Chthon is one of the best Marvel villains by far, and has been criminally underused and was arguably as damaged by Bendis as Wanda.
If Chthon had been behind Disassembled and HoM they might have actually made sense. Fucking Bendis. Chthon's ommission was retard writing at its worst.
>That's what women don't get. Living in harmony with nature is more satisfying than creating a world, where you are a slave to the corrupted system
What? There's a whole ideology called ecofeminism that thinks creating a world is evidence of man's evil because it rapes Mother Nature just like men rape women.
Sure, but it's a medieval civilization inferior to Man's World at everything, and every major technological advancement they have comes from either the gods or aliens.
Themyscira is literally a testament to the idea that women are useless and could never accomplish anything on their own. They still use fire for lighting.
Some ship Wanda with Steve...some ship her with Stephen...I ship Wanda x Chthon. You know it makes sense.
She could mend his mean trolling ways, show him happy things he could show her his huge magiks, before you know it the Great Shadow will be known as the Great QT Husbando.
>Marvel believes being a woman equals superpowers.
Don't you mean history?
Why do you think so many women had magic in stories throughout the world? Men were mighty with their hands and women with otherworldly powers.
Like for instance...Freyja, Goddess of Magic. (Odin's wife)
Hecate? Circe? Or ever heard of witches?
I'm all for people playing it cool and normal and not going nuts with GIRL POWAH but this stuff is supported by our real history and myths. Calling to the fact she's a witch when it's in her fucking NAME is hardly anything to lose your mind about.
>I didn't write greek literature or create norse mythology
>I'm not saying women deserve to be magical, its just that a bunch of witches are often women who refer to women shit
The problem is, in those mythologies witchery usually did not give you phenomenal cosmic power. Resorting to it was a sign of weakness, resorting to petty tricks because lack power to directly stab your opponent's in the face. When Loki said that Odin was participating in witch rituals during the bitchfit that led to Loki's imprisonment he meant that as one of the most scathing insults he could think of.
>It's reasonable considering women are less violent and a lot more cooperative than men.
One look at any all-women environment, like women prisons, disproves that. There arguably might be less violence, but there is absolutely no cooperation. Women would literally rather suck dicks for five minutes of access to something normally not allowed by rules, like a mobile phone, rather than abstain from snitching on each other whenever one of them smuggles that thing in.
>revered by pagans
Didn't "Pagans" use to sacrifice people to try and keep shit like this away, and have all sorts of rituals that would try and stop the Fae from fucking with them with their evil magic?
Odin was also the God of knowledge, wisdom, literacy, etc.
>men value study and intelligence
>women value magical hocus pocus
Elves are wonderful. They provoke wonder.
Elves are marvelous. They cause marvels.
Elves are fantastic. They create fantasies.
Elves are glamorous. They project glamour.
Elves are enchanting. They weave enchantment.
Elves are terrific. They beget terror.
Just a reminder.
Marvel believes pandering to women, gays and people of color in a very blatant fashion will save them from the crash.
This. Allan Heinberg had a chance to retcon everything into being Chthon's fault. Hell, even Immortus would have made more sense, especially since it would have conected to Iron Lad.
Instead we got a confusing Life Force retcon and Doctor Doom was somehow behind it all and had Wanda prisoner for years, even those times where Doom wasn't in Castle Doom because he was in exile or imprisoned
>dat feel when born too late to post all the pages of Marston's Wonder Woman that had WW outright state that women are superior to men mentally, morally and physically
No, Anon was saying, because some people who've been dead for a long time suffered, you should pay for their [dead people] suffering to them [People now] which you had no part of, because you have traits those people had.
But only if you're white. Not allowed to get Muslims to pay for oppressing women, heavily, to this day. Or other races for their violent pasts to other people.
Don't you see anon, were all the same and equal women and the colored people, sorry people of color, are just more equal than everyone else.
so only women can have magic powers in the marvel universe now?
wow that is the most sexist thing i have ever read in a comic.
well but it is sexism against men so it´s ok in the eyes of the liberal faggots that write and read comics
> Wanda suffers personal tragedy loses self-confidence. At a low ebb, she is vulnerable.
> Chthon seizes the opportunity and slyly manipulates her while funnelling more power into her to tempt her.
Its kind of ridiculous Heinberg didn't see this logical storytelling avenue. He had an open goal to shoot down Bendis, and missed.
I'll admit to being guilty of this. When I want a topic to be discussed I'll be sure to say things that I know will trigger certain people to ensure enough people will reply that at some point an actual discussion can be made.
I dislike the faces but Pulido's upcoming issue looks great.
A hypocritical one at that, as Odin used all kinds of bullshit witchcraft.
>6 hours and no one posted this yet
/co/... has changed.
They were doing that in the 70's too. That's not a new thing unless you are 65+ years old to remember.
I think Brevoort may have said he opposed the Chthon-did-it explanation. I can't remember, but Chthon was brought up as a possible culprit in Children's Crusade 1, so it's not like they didn't remember him.
Writing off Disassembled/House of M as possession wouldn't have pleased Bendis or Brevoort because it would have invalidated those events completely.
That doesn't invalidate anything. That just gives a better enemy.
Wanda had no agency in HoM or Dissembled. She was a plot device for others.
Chthon makes a whole Phoenix vs Elder God throw down in AvsX fight happen.
I agree Wanda's characterization sucked in Disassembled/House of M but Bendis and Brevoort didn't care about that. They just needed a plot catalyst for their events and both events were massively successful.
The problem with Children's Crusade is it was trying to "fix" an event that was bad for a particular character but good for Marvel's bottom line. It's easier to retcon out an event that bombed, like the Crossing. With CC you could see Heinberg could only go so far and not step on the success of those events.
(Like bringing back Scott Lang - a pet character for both Heinberg and his pal Geoff Johns - in such a way that it didn't change what happened in Avengers Disassembled.)
Is Scarlet Witch retarded or something? Both her and her brother's powers are a result of the High Evolutionary's experimentation. It is not some ancient bs that she claims it is.
that women, nature, pagan bullshit pisses me off. women were no more special in most pagan faiths than men, just different. sure they were closer to the goddesses in some, but the men were just close to the gods. christianity won because it supported a single ruler over a secular ruler and a bunch of high priests. dealing with a single unified religious power that would often work to facilitate and continue nobles was better than the more disorganized and often power hungry cults of pagan faiths. the mother goddess women are special bullshit is 70's hippie counter culture misrepresenting a facet of history.
