I guess no one wants it to happen.

You got that right.
>>
Only if The Void is in it.

I want full on biblical wrath of God Void.
>>

Maybe not a movie but definitely use him in one of the shows.

I just got done watching Jessica Jones and I have to say Marvel is dropping the ball HARD when it comes to using their characters.

When did people start unironically liking this edgy shitstorm of a character? Or is it just Disney shills doing a little astroturfing in anticipation of some as-yet-unnanounced Sentry movie?
>>
Isn't he insane
>>
>>78681057
>>78681122
Whats this guys deal....is he a villain? How does he have Supermans powers? If he's that powerful, why is he like some no namer who seems to hardly ever do anything?
>>
>>78679626
iunno who this is but i like his color scheme and cool hairstyle. not sure about teh colored ribs though... what is that? I saw a version of superman that had red rib-shaped bits on his costume, alfred was beating him up. what is that
>>
>>78682912
I think he has superman's powers without any of the 300 weaknesses superman has. Last I checked he was being manipulated by osborn or was contaminated by a zombie virus.
>>
Only if it's an adaptation of Jenkins mini.
Outside it Sentry is pure dogshit.
>>
>>78682912
He's a hero with mental instability that causes an evil entity called Void to manifest and do evil as he is trying to do good. The only way to get rid of void was to erase everyone's memories of Sentry, which is why he's a no namer. Osborn manipulates him into doing evil stuff that causes Void to possess him. He was written as a Superman with mental issues that was retconned into being a classic part of Marvel history. His powers are basically whatever he thinks they are, and who he is or how he got powers are unknowable since whatever he believes is retconned into his canon.
>>
>>78681434
>this edgy shitstorm of a character

I pretty much feel the same way. I was so happy when they killed him off.
>>
>>78684045

He's also back as a celesrial cosmic entity (as if he needed MORE powers) and we never knew if Robert turned into the Void or the Sentry and which one was the byproduct.

He's kinda fun in that absurd superohero-as-a-god type (think Miracleman/Marvelman only waaaay crazier)

Also, that's the Ultimate Superman look from the wizard article of Ultimate DC.
Still as boring as de ever too.
>>
>>78684023
Age of the Sentry was good too.
>>
>>78684045
Isn't it reverse? He's Void, Sentry is his drug.

Of course

>>78687760
Uncanny Avengers, he's a Death Horseman of Apoc, and showed cosmic awareness on crazy levels (sensing a Celestial's soul depart to White Hot Room). You should probably read the issues with him in Remender's run, they're fucking crazy.

Nobody. Sentry was a terrible character that nobody liked except power-wankers. The fact that he was the central focus of multiple events, yet the people in this thread still seem to have no idea what his origin is supposed to be, tells us that. Even at his absolute best, he was just a watered-down Triumph, who himself was a watered-down Miracleman.

Literally ONLY point is that both remembered they were metahumans once and could be again. ONE point.

But I guess you'd call Gladiator a Superman ripoff cause cape and lasers, so there's no point really.
>>
>>78693949
>call Gladiator a Superman ripoff
Actually, Superman borrows heavily from Gladiator.
In terms of powers, Spiderman is literally Gladiator.
Sentry opens exactly with "A Dream of Flying". The story is literally just a ripoff until Dark Avengers.
>>
>>78693949
they also both have human forms, both have wifes that are equally reluctant to their superhero career, also both have incredible vague super powers and power levels with the Sentry being dependent on how much he remembers and with miracleman being dependent in how long he has being in his super form

>>
Sentry is terrifying. He was atomized by Morgan Le Fay, and just decided to stop being dead.

If you want to do a Sentry movie, you have to play on what makes him not Superman. He's just an average Joe with the powers of a god, and it breaks him.

>>
hopefully after the hyperion and thor bearded bromance movie
>>
>>78682912

Pretty much what >>78684045 said.

He's basically mentally unstable as all hell. He makes Superboy-Prime look as like a sane man. He wants to be a superhero, but the void is always there, ready to do evil whenever he does any good, hence why it's hard for him to do anything at all, because that brings up a risk of the void fucking shit up in retaliation of the good that the Sentry tries to do. The Void comes into being every time Sentry uses his powers and is his eternal nemesis born in his own psyche.

>tl;dr:
Just think of him being like the Superman version of Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde, only except a cosmic addition on top of that, since the Void is seemingly hinted to be Yaldabaoth.

Sentry does not obey to the whims of causality.
>>
>>78699876
Well he could lifted it up as a gesture of triumph (I guess) and then still cut from below, he's fast enough for that.
>>
>>78681057
Never forgive Sentry. NEVER! He is the extension of Bendis ruining JMS's Thor run
>>
>>78682780

It's not really Sentry's fault. Everyone and their dog fucked with his mind at one point or another.
>>
>>78701586
But he IS the Void, how is that fucking with him to take a part of that horrific creature out of him? Sentry is a villain
>>
>>78701868
Nah, Bob Reynolds is a villain in his mind, but with enough decency to know that he's doing wrong, hence the Sentry persona. Technically Sentry can't act villainously, he can just be confused/manipulated. Void, on the other hand is pure malevolence taken form.
>>
>>78701868
Sentry contains the Void. The man keeps the beast chained.

Without Sentry, would the void exist? Would it just rage unchecked throughout creation? Or would it just never have been? Nobody knows.
>>
>>78701254
Bendis butchered that character, look at >>78701586
he should be fucking fighting Void in blink of an eye, as it has always been - it's Bob Reynolds who's scared and weak.

Wasn't the void always his original personality?
I thought the only real universe where sentry came first was in that little bullshit story Reed told Franklin where at the end the void still won and was basically his real world self of a horrible man masquerading as a hero against his will.

I'm sure of it myself, especially in this new cosmic-inbuded version.
>>
>>78700377

>>

>>78698754
>>78698829
That would be pretty damn good.
>>
>>78680390

>>
>>78700169
why are they depowering thor
>>
>>78682912
Because no sane person actually cares about the shitty Sentry. Gladiator and Hyperion are already the superior Marvel Superman clones. Blue Marvel too if you take away the fact that he is a no spine pushover.
>>
>>78698639
>He was atomized by Morgan Le Fay, and just decided to stop being dead.
Is that suppose to be a big deal? It has already been confirmed that a sun is sufficient to permanently kill and trap him. And the whole self-resurrection thing isn't even that big of a deal. Even the weakest terrestrial god is capable of that if their desire is powerful enough.

>>
>>78711423
So he can come back from being totally disintegrated, but getting his neck snapped kills him? I know it's an alternate universe but Jesus that's some shitty writing
>>
>>78699839
>>78700158
Literally wrong on every count.

Sentry < Molecule Man < original Beyonder < Beyonders

Bendis and Brevoort both said that Sentry isn't supposed to be more powerful than Molecule Man overall. Reed Richards beat Molecule Man too, that doesn't mean Reed is more powerful. Even in Dark Avengers, Sentry still needed to force Molecule Man to undo everything he'd done, if Sentry was really more powerful he'd have been able to do it on his own.

Molecule Man isn't more powerful than the Beyonders. It took the power of thousands (millions? billions?) of alternate universe Molecule Men, plus Doom's time travel and power stealing technology, to defeat them.

The original Beyonder was merely a child unit, whereas the true Beyonders are the adults of their race and are vastly more powerful.
>>
>>78713573
>You mean in a What-If where everything tends to be exaggerated for the sake of drama and shock?
You lack reading comprehension or something?
>>
>>78713925
If his power set includes being able to regenerate from molecular disintegration, then alternate universe or not, it's stupid for him to die that way. If Thor disintegrated him with a bolt of magical divine lightning, that would be exaggerating for the sake of drama and shock. This is the equivalent of having a What If? where the Hulk dies from being shot in the head from a normal .22 caliber bullet. Even for a What If? it's fucking stupid.
>>
>>78714065
Sentry believed he would die from it, so he did.
>>
People in this thread thinking Sentry is about power levels, Superman knock-offs, or normal cape stories are missing the point. Sentry is the Haruhi of superheroes.

>>78714065
In fairness. The issue in question was an alternate reality that diverged from 616 during Secret Invasion. Sentry wasn't shown coming back from disintegration until Dark Reign, when Osborn gave him a serum to boost his power, at the cost of making him more vulnerable to the Void taking control. Maybe the serum was just a placebo that made Sentry think he was more powerful and thus made him actually become more powerful, as >>78714257 suggests.

Either way, Sentry never took the serum in this alternate universe. So this is still Sentry at Mighty Avengers power levels, where he was basically just a really strong flying brick who couldn't lift the Helicarrier on his own, could get knocked out by other Class 100 characters like Hercules, could exhaust all his power fighting World War Hulk, etc. So it makes sense that this version of Sentry could be killed if his neck was snapped. It'd just take someone really really really strong like Thor to do it.
>>

With how nerfed the MCU is, hopefully never.
