Ashley Cope and Mary Cagle are two examples off the top of my head that manage to do it properly. Cope takes time off between chapters to build a buffer and she sometimes posts multiple pages when the regular schedule would break up the pace. Cagle is working on three comics at once (became the artist of the third after the other guy left) and she seems to manage her time well.

Michelle is just terrible at it.

IMO, yeah, it is. Arguably, it only got popular because Michelle was from the Homestuck fandom -so she had fans of her fan art from that to sucker in- and she had pretty artwork to bank on.

I was all excited to read this at the beginning, and I kept up with it for a while. But as time went on, I began to realize there was very little substance and everyone was unlikable. Not very memorable, either. I can't even begin to tell you anything else besides the Prudith sequence that was really memorable in the story itself.

While I can't fault her for doing what she loves, but if I were in her shoes? I wouldn't have quit a lucrative job at Dreamworks to do this comic full-time, since apparently now her "job" is working on Kickstarter stuff and little else besides that. Truly, the pinnacle of funemployment, right there.

Once again a weak as shit reason to go on such a long hiatus for a comic that promised twice the updates from Patreon and the kickstarters with enough money but instead killed the comic entirely. Some people hurt your feelings? That's ok just go mope and cry about it and not do the thing people paid you to do. When you get that much money to maintain a webcomic it stops being a hobby it becomes a job to take more seriously. Shit like celebrating a niece in another state, building a computer, moving shouldn't put you out of work longer than a whole year. As for the kickstarter delays, she went over board once again with the rewards not learning from the first one how long that kind of thing takes. An animation?
