So, relatively new to the show,but, I don't know if this is a common theory, but it's usually unusual that kid stay away from their parents for a whole summer (they have been at Gravity Falls for the whole summer, right?), unless...

Is it possible that Mabel and Dipper's parent are divorcing and asked Stan to watch over the kids while they are working on it and trying to provide the kid a last nice summer before they break the news to them?

I don't live in the US, but usually, summer camp doesn't last the whole summer; 3 weeks at best.

Summer vacation is usually made of summer camp, going somewhere with the familly on vacation, and then spending time home playing video games watching rerun of the cartoons broadcasted during the previous school years and playing outside with the neighbourhood kids.

You don't ususually spend a whole summer away from your parents on a single place for two months. Unless they actually want you away while they work thing out on their divorce.

But aside from the twin spending their whole summer with Grunkle Stan, I don't see any other hints of their parent divorcing.

When you compare it to how it's perfectly acceptable in some families to send the kids away for the school year to boarding schools, it's really not so strange that Dipper and Mabel were sent away just for the summer.

Lots of families use their vacations differently. It's possible that both of their parents work full time and can't take the summers off to take care of the kids, so they send them someplace and Stan was the best option this year.

And Dipper and Mabel definitely go to public school so when they get back they'll be with their parents for the whole year and every other vacation.

We actually don't know how late into the summer the twins arrived at Stan's. It starts with them already there having arrived some short time beforehand, but with no clear date. They do say a couple times in the show "we still have the whole summer to go," but people can still say that as late as the end of June or well into July without it being weird.

That's probably one of the reasons for sending them to stay with Stan in the first place. Dipper said they wanted Mabel and him to "get some fresh air", and knowing Dipper's personality and flashbacks, he probably didn't have any friends back at home and stayed at home playing videogames all day. This way a change of scenery might do him good, and it'd get the high-maintenance Mabel off their backs for a while.

Stan did tell them if he ever thought he couldn't take care of them he'd send Dipper and Mabel back home, so they probably assumed their kids were safe and having fun.

I know it varies place to place. I was thinking of when it includes the entire month of June or starts early in June, with the school year picking up at the start of September. I remember highschool students getting out as early as May, though that was maybe only seniors after finishing their exams. And sometimes when a family has a big summer trip planned they can just pull their kids out prior to the official last day but after the grades are pretty much settled.

I know Labor Day is considered by some as the official last chance to do anything summer related, but I think some schools start up even a couple of days before Labor Day in some cases.

Let's analyze every girl character in this show

>Mabel
Cute, energetic, fun, but also a little selfish. She got tons of moral and char development related to summer romance and her acting in almost every episode, but some of them doesn't really affect on her character. It felt like after she learned something in previous episode, she's done the same mistake again.

>Pacifica
Confident and sarcastic, nothing more than a spoiled brat in season 1, but instead got the most believable character development on season 2. The golf war put an end to her rivalry with mabel, and NMM goes deeper with the reason behind her bitchiness. Because of this, she became one of the most interesting character in the show so far.

She's established as cool and badass character, but she doesn't have character arc. Her development only resolved around Dipper's unattainable crush and kinda end in into the bunker. It seems like they didn't know what to do with her character afterwards, so better show-off her badassery I guess

Nothing more than quirky comic relief, established as strong and enpowered girl but also boys crazy. She's got glimpse of development in NMM when she realized that she's just gotta be yourself to proven something to someone

Those are good questions. As for that last one, in some form, yes I do expect more GF. Alex didn't deny more shorts being a possibility (when asked in the Wikia Food Truck interview), and has more explicitly expressed interest in something like an Xmas special in podcasts.
