Do you think that when we die we can hear the worms eating us
>Doom can kill Beyonders but he can't treat a gunshot wound
No wonder Batman gets so much respect from other heroes
Meh. Was a forced plot to revert to status quo with absurd conditions, but it wasn't aggressively retarded like Ultimatum or just strange like Marville. If it was split into just a story where Spider-Man has to live with that fact that no matter what he does everyone dies sometime and a different story of a man being shown different times and preying on his personality by a devil to make him lose ability to love it would have been legitimately okay to good tier.
But it is aggressively retarded.
Like, why the fuck would Mephisto even be *involved* in this story in the first place? It's just a really poor story made up of incredible contrivances and non-sensical plot points to have THE DEBIL break up a fucking marriage.
Did you not hear Mephisto say
>Have you thought for a second to ask yourselves why? Why I chose you two of all people?
>It's because yours is the rarest love of all.
>Pure, unconditional, and made holy in the eyes of he who I hate most. A love like yours comes about but once in a millennia, and to take that away from him...
>...to deny him...is a victory like none other imaginable.
The real question here is, who is Mephisto referring to (probably God?), and why does Mephisto care so much? (probably because the devil loves to taunt God, because, reasons?)
>Mephisto explicitly states that their love was a once-in-a-millennia deal.
This implies that even if he dissolves Peter and MJ's marriage, another one of equal holiness and purity will come along in another 1,000 years, so it's pointless, and gives Mephisto no leverage. So, this entire plot is moot and bullshit. The only thing that happens now is that Peter lives another life.
However, if what MJ said was true, that nothing can stop them from being together, maybe they meet again and shit hits the fan with some paradox. Maybe that's what the real plot twist is? I don't really know.
Also, question: Have comic book titles always been this edgelord-tier?
the only thing I can think of is that being given up in a deal like that caused Mephisto to gain the unborn Mayday's soul, and the soul of a child from such a pure love or whatever makes one hell of a demon
The first time I tried getting into comics was the immediate aftermath of OMD, and it's what cut off interest in the hobby for 5 years.
Anyone think about how the writer who undoes OMD will be worshiped as the messiah of Spider-man?
Can I ask what kind of writers, and artists, are even employed at Marvel? I know Stan's writing and Kirby's art was incredibly goofy/plain, but it's a billion times more enjoyable than today's massive egde. Maybe I'm too immature, or something, but the writing has become too god damn cynical, grim, and coarse for me.
>but the writing has become too god damn cynical, grim, and coarse for me.
I know just what you need, anon!
It's the hip, progressive, quirky new series from superstar webcomic creator Kate Leth!
>Not even the smartest people ON THE ENTIRE FUCKING PLANET CAN HEAL A SIMPLE BULLET WOUND
>THEY CAN CREATE MAGICAL DEVICES AND BULLSHIT TECH BEYOND COMPARE AND LIGHT YEARS AHEAD OF OUR OWN
>THEY CAN MAKE TIME AND SPACE THEIR BITCH
>THEY CAN CURE FUCKING CANCER
>BUT NONE OF THEM CAN FIX A SIMPLE
There's lazy, there's contrived, and then there's whatever this is
Oh yeah, forgot about that little detail. My point still stands. They have the technology to heal much worse, and if they can't fix the wound, and push comes to shove, they can just build a robot body for her or some shit. Or hell, clones. There's literally a billion ways to stop Aunt May from dying wihtout making deals with demons
No, they could cure it, but Marvels arm bands were protecting him from most treatment, and they were also the reason he was still alive.
Because the cancer was already pretty far ahead by the time they discovered it, it was too late to do anything about it.
Well... they could have done something after discovering that, but they were so wrapped up in their pity for Mar-Vell that they didn't do anything else.
>No, they can't.
Considering that they can suddenly make up a world where superheroes and whatever else is possible, there is no reason whatsoever that they couldn't cure cancer, other than not wanting a solution to everything. Understandable, but a little oodd. Most likely, some writer will just bring back all the deceased like nothing ever happened. Isn't that what they did with Barry Alan after two decades of him being dead?
Getting God to go "You broke up Peter and Mary Jane? Confoundit!! Mephistoooooooooooo!! You dickwaffle! "
A victory like no other, surely. A brain must do triple backflips to accept these terms as why Mephisto should get involved with such a street level hero as Spider-Man.
But four the quadruple backflip, you get to accept that there is no one, anywhere in the Marvel Universe, no obscure mutant power (like Elixir's for example) or otherwise, capable of mending Aunt May's bullet wound. "UM. SHE'S OLD. THERE'S NOTHING WE CAN DO."
As someone who never read marvel, I can see nobody being able to mend the wounds of an old lady caused by a rifle chosen to kill a super hero to not be too far-fetched, but i don't believe nobody had any sort of "brain in jar" solution that wouldn't have at least kept her alive.
Is it just me, or should Marvel just concluded many of the series with older characters?
>teen hero; tons of great adventures
>eventually grows up and married
I know that there are spin-offs of Spider-Girl, but Spider-Man has run its course. Best to make up new heroes than to destroy old ones.
Spider-Man has long outstayed its welcome for me, and from what I see now I was totally justified in my decision to drop it long ago. I feel like taking Mary Jane away from Peter and keeping May alive was their fall back to keep the series going when they ran out of ideas for the ongoing conflict of dual identities and the what-it-means-to-be-a-hero element which should have been long since dealt with. Tired of the angst, tired of the writers relying on May dying again and again to fill up issues until they have any good ideas, tired of the same internal conflict Peter's been dealing with forever.
Just fucking end it.
god damn i hated this so fucking much when i first read it
FUCK EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS COMIC KJFL:SKFJSKDL:FJKKSLD:FD
If I can say one positive thing about this comic.
That's a really great design there. This Satan Sandiego the Gozerian.
She reminds me of Ardra from Star Trek Next Gen. Just a bit. It's kind of difficult to make women look sinister in this particular way, and this design hits some bullseye I wasn't aware of.
As a creator, I find it worthy of study.
The New 52's actual output was decent, but it really fucked continuity. Current DC, however, is very strong (in terms of quality, not sales), I could throw some recs your way if you want.
I mean she's old as shit even if they did remove the bullet what are the chances she'd survive?
I'm assuming her body is just as good at fighting infections and that sort of thing anymore
This is an actual question
reminder that Aunt May died, was given a respectful funeral, and Peter moved on with his life, but that pissed off the wrong person who demanded it be retconned to being some broad chameleon made look like her, who somehow didn't break character even while dying despite only being persuaded with money,
I mean, it's probably nothing you haven't heard before, but Omega Men, Grayson, Midnighter, Justice League and Sinestro are probably my five favorite DC ongoings right now. I've heard good things about Martian Manhunter, Gotham Academy and Robin: Son of Batman too. If you're more interested in trades, you could try Geoff Johns' Aquaman (New 52 vol.1-4), his Green Lantern (available in two Omnibus editions), Dial H for Hero, Demon Knights, the fist two Batman volumes, Morrison's Action Comics (Superman), Soule's Red Lanterns, IF you like Green Lantern, All-Star Western, and I think there should be a trade of Gotham By Midnight coming out soon. If you have any questions about these feel free to ask.
It's more like pic related grown up. She moved down to Miami and became the city's guardian. Now she's friends with Terra (Atlee from Conner-Palmiotti's Power Girl). It's a pretty light-hearted, upbeat series with some cheesecake elements from Conner & Palmiotti's sensibilities aided by Luppachino art.
Plus Grayson showed up and there might be a Dicking in her future, it's great
>So in which of those iterations do I end up a little girl?
>Oh, that? That's another story. You're not ready to hear that one yet, and I'm not yet ready to tell it.
We'll never get the story of tiny Spider Girl. What a sad life.
There's just nowhere for the character to go. In the old Spider-Man comics, she had a purpose: she was Peter's only guardian, and she could keel over whenever, so she was kind of another source of angst. Then Peter grew up and got his own house, and now Aunt May's got nothing to do.
In the follow up it is revealed MJ asked Mephisto to promise to leave Peter alone and give him his life back and she will then talk Peter into making the deal with the devil.

I want to get into spider-man but it all seems so pointless to fight some random thugs in alleys when the marvel world is literally ending all the time on a universal scale
Should I just find some of the older stories and read those?
Spider-Man's a pretty street-level guy, if you want universe-shattering, you won't find much of it in his old stories either. I personally much prefer it that way and I love the classic Spider-Man stories, so do with that what you will.
That's kind of what I wanted, but what I meant is that when they're constantly getting annihilated by universal threats I don't really get the same cozy low level feel that I used to when reading spider-man
At this point I'm hoping something like the "Superman - Lois & Clark" of DC (with the past 616 married version of Peter and MJ and their daughter coexisting in the new universe), I actually thought that would be the result of "Renew your Votes" but sadly I was wrong...
Do OMIT next. It's just as retarded but you can claim it's even worse because of it's reasoning to retcon the Mephisto deal. Sad Rivera was wasted on this.
I hated Spider-man, no I literally loathed the motherfucker. He had a super-model wife who coddled him. An Aunt who adored him. He had a super-powered girl in leather who would do anything for him. I could never stand to listen to someone whine like that.
Then someone handed me JMS Ezekiel saga. And I was beginning to love Spider-man. He was being honest with his Aunt. Instead of being a 'freelance photographer', he was a school teacher.
It everything that had come before had led to an actual young adult. A role model. A flawed relatable one, but still a role model. And then Sins Past and Civil War came. And I watched with baited breath, how would this affect my adult Spider-man and his wife. Enter OMD.
OMD was it. I can't read Slotts run, with Parker back to being a man-child. I don't want to read about Miles 'look at me I'm black" Morales going through puberty and discovering girls.
The thing is, OMD could have been the perfect end to what JMS run stood for. Peter realizes part of growing up is accepting that you lose people. Instead he makes deals with devils and messes with the fabric of space time, jerk off.
Be careful what you wish for anon, that was some pretty damn bitter shit. Lois and Clark basically lost everyone they loved. DC shit on the two pretty hard. Not sure how Marvel would fuck up MJ and Peter, but they would.
So I've been out of the Spider-Man flow since Spider-Verse ended, and waaaay before Renew Your Vows began. Can anyone give me a rundown on how much shit has been thrown on Peter and Spider-Man in general since the end of Spider-Verse and right now?
Could be that worst than what they have right now? I mean they basically already "lost everything" in OMD, besides, what else could they do to them? right now MJ is about to become in one name more in the long list of names in the black book of Tony (not)Stark meanwhile Peter is a manchild completely removed of what supposed was the goal of this retcon (which I think was go back to be some kind of street level young hero, right?)
Was part of the uncanny avengers for like 3 pages but deadpool pissed him off
First arc was pretty solid, you may hear some faggot spouting man-child because some shitty reason
>oh my god he is singing and using autotune what a child REEEEEEEEE see>>78630394
He is bigger than Jesus in the Marvel Universe for some reason(because SECRETWARSIAINTGONNAEXPLAINSHIT)
He believes in saving lives but not to a ridiculous extends.
He kinda still puts Aunt May before anything
Peter has SHIELD on the palm of his hand and Fury is his new bitch, so that's refreshing.
Not that I'm defending the new arc, but the way he's acting is gonna lead to his company crashing down. Soon everyone will get tired of his ''Gotta save everyone!'' bs, or Parker Industries being as safe as a minefield.
