I didnt see one in the catalog so let's see what ya got! Show off your shelves too, if you want.
I got The Incal around christmas, I just finished it.
It was underwhelming. Maybe all those derivative works just bored me on the original, I don't know.
It's not even the most exciting example of Moebius' art.
I got a $20 gift card to b&n, so I got Daredevil ultimate collection vol.2 by Brubaker, FINALLY!! Also ordered Sandman vol.1 with it, since i've been slacking for years on reading it.
No recent purchases but I have a $50 gift card from B&N I got during christmas. Posting my sad excuse for a shelf anyways
LCS was having a New Years sale, picked up pic related for just under $100
what a pile of shit
the guy i bought a book for never said thank you either. worthless fucks.
also what is the deal with overstock?
did this get reprinted or is overstock just being retarded right now?
your a fucking retard the whole point of the secret santa was to gift anonymously, you shouldn't expect to get a thank you. But obviously a trip-fag like you wouldn't understand that concept.
Checked satan by the way fagggot
Checked satan by the way fagggot
I don't know what this meme is. And try to control your spastic outbursts or we're taking the xbox away for another week. You've been warned.
the person i gifted to was a trip/namefag so good job freaking out like some nutter off his meds
Instocktrades sales ticking me off. Have 10 sales simultaneously and I can't even get the books I want from them because they remove them randomly unless I drop like 200+ dollars at once. Some front page deals aren't 50% off because they removed a dc sale and blanket changed the discount to the entire DC catalog I guess.
What should I buy lads? Ignore the OOP stuff, also some other things I need to add.
I got me myself some things during december
-bacchus vol 1
-russian olive to red king
-deadly classtp 2 (gurl gave me 3)
all fucking worth it, especially overture MY god, Williams the third is number 1
Welp you already got some morrison there, ever tried the invisibles, you can get the ungodly big and totally "do you even lift " ominibus or the deluxe editions!
>Williams the third is number 1
Yeah. I'm trying to find Batwoman Elegy Deluxe, but it's OOP so it's super expensive. I found an ebay listing with it and 3 HC's of JHIII's New 52 Batwoman for $100. Thinking about doing it.
Yeah i gave up and went with the tp for that, at least that i found on my store.
It almost makes me feel like preordering everything, i'm almost fearful to wai for the Deluxe Private Eye until midt 2016 because things could get retarded.
>I'll call him a kid, that'll show him
Again it's a SECRET santa thread, that means you aren't suppose to know who gifted you which means you are no entitled to a thank you.
> the person i gifted to was a trip/namefag so good job freaking out like some nutter off his meds
So what If they're a tripfag it still doesn't change the fact, they don't have to give you a thank you if they don't want to.
I gifted several people (one of them being a name fag) and only got two thank yous, but you don't here me bitching about like a little whiny cunt.
I also just recently read The Incal, I had the opposite response. I thought it would've been overhyped for me, and that all the derivative works would make it feel less fresh, but I loved it.
I own the first three, no regrets.
I have recently acquired:
vol 2-8 of the color Bone reprints;
The D&Q 25th anniversery reprints
Creative Illustration by Loomis
Constructive Anatomy by Bridgemen
And pic related. The FF book completes my FF omni set.
REALLY! Your still this much of a faggot. I mean its [ current year]!
Megahex was really good!
This was a good year for me
Anybody got the goon library editions? I'm fairly new to comics. I'd like hellboy library issues but 50€ per piece is too much now.
Goon seems like a LOT to read and also a nice big issue. Is it worth it? I don't know shit about it.
I enjoyed saga, east of west and aquaman so far.
But I like my comics in original language. If its french/german/english I take the original not translated.
Comicbook stores here mostly have german translated one. Amazon is cool but some things are really expensive on it.
Try uscomicversand.de they have a pretty good stock of US comics, also worth mentioning is a Dutch comic store Cheap-comics.com their sales are pretty great and shipping to Germany isn't bad either. Just bought Avengers Omnibus from them for €35.
Why weren't you in /co/'s secret santa threads?
Bookdepository is also good, owned by Amazon and free worldwide shipping.
Ordered two hardcovers of The Rocketeer from them, one came damaged and when I contacted them about it they told me to keep it and sent me a new one for free.
Posting my shelves. My recent purchases are The Doom that Came to Gotham, and the first volume of Suicide Squad, which I found at HPB.
Other than those two, my shelve's don't include the two Don Rosa Duck slipcases.
>Absolute FC, Batman & Robin and Absolute Inc.
Sometime in the next month or so I need to really get Absolute Batman Inc since I have the other two. I really just want to finish collecting Morrison's run already.
>complete Venture Bros series and Absolute MorrisonBats
Dude, I was the one you helped story time Batman & Robin and Return of Bruce Wayne a few months ago. You were already one of the only namefags on this board I liked for that, now you're for sure my favorite. Hope New Years treats you good man.
I'd just take a copy of volume 2 that didn't cost $40.
Is it wrong that I want the shelf more than what's on it? Although all that Kirby makes me jelly.
Anyone got any idea how come the 4th library edition Hellboy has been unavailable on IST for weeks now? It is in stock everywhere else, but it still has me worried.
>WWJ & Sons
I am jelly. What is Groan Zone though?
That Pachecomics is probably some of the most unfunny thing I've read though. Total ripoff of MMO and Habits, escept no soul or humour.
e-mail and ask if they are ordering more. they will let you know if its no longer in print
if its no longer in print buy a couple extra from the places that still have it in stock, wait 6 months then make bank
No problem, pic related is what I bought from Cheap-comics which will probably get here by Tuesday.
Maybe it's been b long enough.
A little outdated but here we go
Mass Hysteria belongs here too
I finished it Remender Cap here too, just havnt gotten to Falcon Cap yet. Love me some Remender.
The mess shelf. New Xmen Childhoods End all here now except vol 4
Violence / war affecting middle america and psychological effects on children.
Deadpool omnibus needs to be added to pic
Haven't gotten much dc lately.
Absolute Joker/Luthor needs to be added
i still miss my annihilation and anihilation conquest trades but i made really good money selling them on ebay about a week after guardians of the galaxy was announced. the spines just look really neat.
I haven't contributed to one of these threads in a very long time, but this haul was so good I couldn't help but share. (Mind the potato I used to take this photo.)
All but The White Lama and The Legion of Night were found in a single shop, believe it or not. I needed about 4 or 5 random issues online to complete Shade, but that was basically a non-issue considering all I found.
Definitely get Orion. It's basically what Simonson did for Thor, but for Orion. Warning though: All the short stories are stuffed in the back and it's a pain in the fucking ass trying to figure out which short story goes to which issue.
Good dd collection man.
I see you like your villians too which is awesome
Those Fear Agents should be had by everyone. Such good quality in terms of story and library edition
>Yeah, that's what I hear, which is why I've put off buying it.
It's really not too big a deal. The stories are mostly only related thematically, but even the ones that resolve plot are easily found by their unique artstyles.
And if you like Simonson that much, his FF was collected in a cheap ass trade, too. I'd rank that better than his Thor, honestly; 352 is one of the best single issues Marvel put out.
Possibly? I admittedly didn't get too in depth when checking haha.
Still debating on whether I should get that Nocenti DD trade Marvel is releasing this year. If I do get it then that's it for my DD collection (unless Soule knocks it out of the park with his run). And those Fear Agent books are godly. And surprisingly cheap
You should still get the Orion omni anyways because it's just awesome. I think it's actually better than his Thor run and Walt's Thor is fantastic.
To provide some more informative perspective, the series takes a while to find its footing. Everything in the first LE feels like Remender wasn't sure what he wanted to do, poorly balancing melodrama with pulpy action. The second half redeems it, providing the type of character introspection/deconstruction he excels at, but it may be too little, too late for you.
Rage of Ultron is basically FA, albeit more concise and focused. Plus it stars Pym.
You have the best DD in print. Just my opinion., i mean other stuff is good, but what but what you have is great.
That being said if you want to finish it out and be DD encyclopedia im all for it man
Soule has been interesting so far, only 2 issues to be fair but I'm liking it.
Hus Swamp Thing was really well done and got me into his work.
Yes and one must be bought BY EVERYONE.
> dat Lemire Arrow.
Haven't gotten to jSA but I'm sure it's good. I usually love Johns
Lemire did a brilliant job on GA. I only wished he had stuck around. I guess DC left a bad taste in his mouth.
I haven't finished the first JSA omni. It's huge. But I am enjoying it. Can't wait to get to Vol. 3 for that Kingdom Come storyline. I always wanted to read that. Looked sick with Eaglesham's work.
>I only wished he had stuck around. I guess DC left a bad taste in his mouth
He left because the artist left and he didn't want to continue their story with a new partner. Sorrentino was lured away by his dream of drawing X-Men
Yea, I think I saw you post that the last time I was here. Good looks, fellow Gerber fan.
Don't know if you read it, but that Legion of the Night series is another of Steve's forgotten 90s works. Not perfect, but still very enjoyable, and may be the weirdest thing he's ever written (which is certainly saying something). You have to deal with Portacio art, but Foolkiller wasn't exactly the prettiest book, either.
Dr. Mirage I am particularly interested in, but am holding out hope for a Valiant Deluxe edition of the first trade and the eventual second.
Prophet I also will hardcover-wait for. I hear more good than not.
That New X-Men book, though...
I have the first two JSA omnis. I am just waiting for them to go OP so I can unload them. The majority of threats the team faced came from within the team, or so it seemed to me, which was not to my taste.
I have the Thor omni and the Orion omni; they're both great.
Btw, for anyone looking for a good cape epic/crossover thing, I suggest the DC One Million or Infinity Gauntlet omnis. Both have a couple boring issues in them, but are 90% gold.
I tried Scalped when it first came out. I know I am missing something great, but I can't get into it like everyone else. Just like I can't get into Game of Thrones, Mad Men, and Breaking Bad. I know they're good. Something turns me off about them.
I would've said the Nikopol Trilogy collection, but I just saw that it's being reprinted, as well. I guess dreams really do come true.
The thing is, the omni collects part of Starlin's run on Surfer. I have the MPH's for IG and RoT, but nothing else has those SS issues.
Well its Yost which is why i decided to take the plunge on that series. Scarlet Spider is one of my all time favorites.
So if you look at my shelf above. Im totally that guy i get it. But I'm not sure if Prophet will ever get that treatment and i love it too much not too own it.
I'm hc waiting Deadly Class, Saga, Black Science (one of few i support in floppy), and everything Valiant i hc wait. I literally just found out about the new Doctor Mirage so yeah they probably eill hc it but you know it'll be 2 years or something craxy.
Looking forward to that Divinity and Imperium hc treatment.
There's a huge Bilal boxset coming out really soon, don't know if that includes reprints of his individual series though. Would be great if it does, would fill some nice patches in my shelves
I read a couple issues of Sludge, but it didn't feel like anything he didn't already get to with Man-Thing, Howard, or Void Indigo. He did have more of a traditionally more "superhero" book, too, I think, but I never got to that.
>Pretty sure the omni has the exact same issues as Rebirth of Thanos
Yes, 34-38. But the omni is collection of some of his other issues that happened concurrently with IG.
Huh. What made Scarlet Spider so good? I was somewhat interested because of Yost and the character, but never got into it.
Also, I though they already came out with a Deadly Class HC. I found one at the local HPB at least. I'm also looking forward to seeing the Black Science HC. And is Valiant releasing a Book of Death Dlx any time soon?
Yeah some of the classic cosmic trades are weird and deceptively named. Like Avengers vs Thanos collects Jim Starlin's run on Captain Marvel, except the last issue and the Death of Captain Marvel graphic novel. The name of the collection makes it seem like it would just be a loose collection of stories
All, but mostly the first and third, I think. I love Cockrom/Clairmont together.
All I saw was a hardcover collection being released in April on Amazon. They've gotten stuff wrong before though, so I'll have to look into that boxset (the only thing I have of his is Exterminator 17, but his style wasn't as developed back then).
Well to be honest i think all those stories have some of the same things in common and that's that they are really really character driven.
They are epic as all hell but it does take some patience. Action and big moments are inbetween the characters being built but i think that what truly makes them shine.
You end up really caring when things happen to the characters you've come to know
For the Avengers/Thanos thing, Starlin's main story ended in issue 33, but 34 (his last issue) is just a one off with Nitro, which he turns into the premise behind DoCM years later. You're right that they could be named better, but there is a bit of logic to their arrangement.
Scarlet just had a great sense of character in that its a Spider that's willing to go the extra mile and stop really bad shit i mean he lobotomized Carnage man.
He is a great anti hero with a developing cast and i think it's a good study of what makes a "heto"
Also a rage hulk mode which is nice back up we will never get to more of as his gone.
comes out next week. Might only be in French though
Looks great. too bad i ain't a frenchie.
I feel you my read pile is out of control but those two aye really great reads.
Scarlet is really hard to get a hold of online, i think vol 2 and 3 are oop.
Yea, I'm in the States, so I can't justify that much money for something I can't easily read.
Further (light) research tells me the April Nikopol reprint is by Titan Books (the guys doing the latest Jodo stories) and should be in English.
To buy or not to buy.
Gf would be pist cause were about to move but it's so good
Yeah saw that too. I'm not sure they just say stuff like that sometimes. I remember in an interview that they said corto maltese would get HCs eventually but i doubt that will happen considering they haven't even published 3 books yet.
I said the last time that it would take a miracle to get all of those Corto books collected/re-released. IDW has attempted several times to bring cult, old-school favorites like that back into the contemporary spotlight, but have never once completed collecting a series. The demand for these types of books just isn't high enough, unfortunately.
I love them, but not everone is crazy about Kirby's dialogue. Personally, I think it is perfect.
As far as the omnis go, the last few issues of Mister Miracle are a little weak, imo, but everything else is great.
WHAT'S UP FAGGOTS?
Who excited for a new year, new books, and brand new dank memes ?
Madman atomica :(
Exactly more people should be buying them.
Your dreaming too small,
wish fir absolutes
They're pure, unadulterated Kirby--so both the good and the bad that comes with that. They also tend to get overpraised (especially on /co/) for innovating things that had already existed well before they came out.
If you can handle classic comics, you'll be fine. Just remember it's just a unique, singular experiment and not some bible of comic making.
>Is it campy tech dialogue or what is it ppl complain about.
A lot of modern comics fans aren't able to handle dialogue that doesn't sound "realistic," in the sense that the characters speaking don't do so in a way that a typical, real life person would.
The merits of these older cosmic comics (see a lot of Marvel's less superhero-y output at that time, too) is that they were exploring concepts and themes which were more complex and heady than what you'd find in your average superhero book. If you're just looking for a story that "moves" you or whatever, the dialogue, if you're anything like those aforementioned fans, will probably stop make that harder.
And the current purch.
it's still on topshelf's site tho
not as good as daytripper, but still pretty good. It kinda reminds me of a Brazillian essex county, funnily enough. if you like Ba and Moon you'll dig it tho.
Instocktrades if your a Fucking American.!
New books: GotG v1/2 , simonson thor 1,2 , Atomic Robo, Plague of frogs 4, Man without fear, and Fear Agent Library v1
picked up Doom that came to Gotham on wednesday.
Guardians is so great. Don't read the Bendis run though. He shits on what you have.
If you end up liking it enough this stuff is really a well put together piece of Marvel
Recents! All-Star was from /co/ secret santa (thanks bronco!) but the rest were indulgences from Christmas money. Oh, I also got the second volume of Hark! A Vagrant from my parents but forgot to put it in the photo
Here's the manga shelf in the same room for the hell hell of it.
Its really funny.
The voices and characters are spot on from the movies and shows.
Lots of Easter eggs from all the Ghostbusters media through the book too.
Fun stuff and a great edition
I want to get bigger matching shelves soon for my ish that isn't singles.
I love it, but I might be bias because I like titties and gratuitous violence. But in all seriousness, the show didn't even touch half of the material in the manga, so if you liked the show even a tiny bit I recommend it because it's leagues ahead in terms of depth of material and character development. Plus the boobs as mentioned before.
heh, i have the floppies and I'm either going to get the 3rd tpb finally, or buy that amazing deluxe hardcover thats coming out in february and give the first two tpb's to my friend.
kinda on the fence about it.. i want to get the Hawkeye OHC's as well
I've read part of annihilation but i have a hard time reading a long storyline like that digitally so i thought the 2 vols of guardians would give me what i was wanting without all the event drama
I see where you're coming from. I don't like digital as well, that being said the whole cosmic line really feels devoid of the event bs to me.
It's mostly written by Abnett and Lanning so it feels much more concise than say, reading every AXIS tie in.
And once you read all the way to Thanos Imparitive the pay off and grandness f the whole cosmic saga they make is so worth the reading.
I know what you mean, i would probably do the same honestly.
I think switching tps for hc would make more sense if the collect Soules run the sane way.
I have the first 2 Flash hc from the 52 and am going to have to figure something bout wren the Manapaul deluxe comes out
I've only been at this for a few months. Yes, I'm a newfag. Yes, I know my collection is pretty basic/standard. Gotta start somewhere...
What are the best books about comics?
I already have:
>The Comic Book History of Comics
>Marvel Comics: The Untold Story
>Stan Lee and the Rise and Fall of the American Comic Book
>The Ten-Cent Plague
>Kirby: King of Comics
Got a bunch of udon art books from IST along with the Hellboy 100 and Sakai Project. SO many fucking packing peanuts. I actually like my smaller orders from them because they have those nice packing pillow things where you know shit will just not move during shipping.
I'm thinking of picking up Mind MGMT after going over the storytimes. The art is pretty bad though. Anyone know of any good manga HCs. I know people recommend Gundam Origins and JoJo's but is there anything else cool in hardcover format?
Tell me /co/ which one should I buy
Ordered a few things with some Christmas money the other day:
>Batman & Son (First Morrisonbats trade)
>Judge Dredd Complete Casefiles V1
>Annihilation Classic (got it for cheap to qualify for free shipping on Amazon)
>War Is Hell: The First Flight of the Phantom Eagle (Where Monsters Dwell was one of the few Secret Wars things I enjoyed)
>Marvel Boy (the Morrison one)
Most are random impulse pick ups, apart from Morrisonbats since I've been wanting to read it for a while.
>Anyone know of any good manga HCs
Junji Ito's stuff, Sunny & GoGo Monster by Matsumoto Taiyou, The Strange Tale of Panorama Island, Karou Mori's stuff, Nausicaa boxset, The Walking Man, Nijigahara Holograph
That's what I don't get. Everyone is constantly jerking it to how good Saga is, but I find it extremely boring. The writings bland, the art is boring, i think normal fags just think they like acting like they're quirky nerds for reading an "indie" comic. Fioana Staples should really just stick to being a colorist and Vaughn should just off himself.
they are out of stock and dark horse is out too so if you are looking to collect them now is the best time to pick them up try amazon theres were i got mines from the ones ist didnt have
Got these on sale and I ordered vol 5 of The Losers just so I'll have the full set
Picked up from Xmas, and post Xmas sale at my LCS.
Solicited as a paperback
DOOM PATROL BOOK ONE TP
Written by GRANT MORRISON
Art by RICHARD CASE, JOHN NYBERG and others
Cover by BRIAN BOLLAND
On sale FEBRUARY 17 • 424 pg, FC, $29.99 US • MATURE READERS
In these tales from DOOM PATROL #19-34, the world’s strangest heroes have left behind almost every vestige of normality. Shunned as freaks and outcasts, the Doom Patrol faces mystifying threats that must be defeated—at any cost. These are the epics that introduced Rebis, Crazy Jane, Dorothy Spinner, the Brotherhood of Dada and more!
Asked for it as a blind buy, and I really liked the story. Art was really nice. Back part of book is email exchanges of the pith of the book, characters, etc.
I'd also suggest it knowing nothing going in.
I really like Idees Noir, Fantagraphics printed a lot of them in one of their early nineties anthologies. But it's all one-page comics, not a continued story whereas the Valerian and Lauraline book is. Both are brilliant cartoonists, though.
D'you rotate the titles on your wall Anon? I'm sure you know but that direct sunlight won't do any favours for those beautiful covers. There're some great comics on that wall, I'm feeling a bit nostalgic now.
After I get the Ennis Punisher complete collection in a few weeks I think I'll stop buying collections for a few months. I gotta get through the 20-30 unread books I have
My unread pile is depressing to say the least. Too much good stuff being released plus not enough time for committed reading.
What does your unread pile consist of? Pics?
Uncanny X-Men by Gillen (5 books)
X-23 by Liu books 1-2
JSA omni 1 (started; a quarter of the way through)
Deadly Class HC
Annihilation Conquest omni
Teen Titans by Wolfman/Perez omni 2
Uncanny X-Men by Claremont/Lee omni 1
Entire Sandman series in softcovers volumes
To name a few. What should I read first?
Don't get me started on books I've read as monthlies but now own HCs or softcovers of that I want to re-read.
Wow that's good stuff Anon...I fucking love Kirby's DC stuff, even moreso than his iconic Marvel creations...I know that's probably heresy to some but the whole Fourth World universe just speaks to me on a deeper level...it's ALMOST kind of like some Outsider Art in some ways..but that's just being all academic about it. I just really dig those characters more than almost all of his Marvel stuff ( the exceptions are his early Thor and Hulk comics) with Stan Lee. Mister Miracle, Orion...fucking brilliant comics--and Kirby was paired with his best inker, Mike Royer, for most of them.
Moore, Snyder, Soule Swamp Thing
Deadly Class vol 1-3
Wicked + Divine vol 1-2
Paper Girls #1-3
Birthright vol 1-2
Priest/Bright Quantum & Woody

>Inhumans by Jenkins and Lee
>East of West Vol 2-4
>Robin Vol 1
>Hawkeye OHC Vol 1
>Fatale Vol 2-5
>Swamp Thing by Alan Moore Vol 1 & 2
and a bunch more
Shigeru mizuki's Hitler (quarter of the way through)
Lone wolf and cub omni vol. 1 (halfway through)
Infinite Kung fu
Teenage mutant ninja turtles idw ongoing hc vol. 1
Plus the stuff I'm getting delivered tomorrow and the even bigger order that should get to me sometime next week. Oh, and I'm starting school tomorrow so I won't have nearly as much free time
i agree with you, his DC stuff seems to have more love in it while his Marvel stuff seems a little manufactured, i'm not saying i don't like it, heck i love devil dinosaur but his DC stuff just has more soul in it.
I've only just gotten into this relatively recently so I don't have a lot. I also just keep buying books that I'm interested in whenever I go to B&N or my LCS so I haven't gotten around to maybe half of what I do have.
Not pictured is Swamp Thing vol.2, which is on my desk. I'm about 2/3rds of the way through it.
Well, I don't keep them in a separate pile but I still have to read:
From Hell (was actually planning on starting this tonight)
Judge Dredd Complete Case Files 01
MSG: The Origin, vol.1
Mouse Guard: Fall 1152
Ronin Deluxe Edition
Swamp Thing, vol.3
TMNT: Change Is Constant (probably going to get the IDW Collection hardcover instead, wasn't aware it existed when I bought this)
TMNT Classics, vol.1
TMNT Ultimate Collection vol.3
The Complete Alan Moore Future Shocks
The Maxx Maxximized vol.1
V For Vendetta
I know this is late but this was waiting for me at the University mailbox, thanks so much for the gift anon
Bought myself WW omnibus, Dial H, and I can't believe it's not the justice League. All were pretty good
Did anybody get this?
How was it?
Yeah I'm currently reading the last storytime here right now. It's just a bit of a shock to the system when the only thing I've read of Kindt is Rai which has art by Clayton Crain which is 180 degrees from the art Kindt is drawing for his own book.
Did some research on Big Damn Sin City after seeing these posts. I think I might get it, $55 on IST seems like an absurdly good deal for that quality and page count.
Got some good news for you faggots
I'm surprised you didn't see any, there was literally at least one thread a day for the last month.
Hey, that's good news.
They're probably waiting a while to do it, since they'd be left with about ten volumes uncollected if they released it now.
Same as the other anon replier. Just finished last storytime. Great, great read. Arts still pretty bad throughout but the story more than makes up for it, imo. All these books and I'm still trying to save up for commissions from cons this year. Ugh.
My pile is 2 deep. The front of the pile are:
With Doctor vol 1
The Mighty collection
City of Light, City of Dark
Django Unchained HC
Enemy Ace by George Pratt HC
Howard the Duck omni (about a third into this)
Fables: Werewolves of the Heartland HC
Harvey Kurtzman's Strange Adventures HC OGN
Pride & Joy by Ennis
Paul Pope's Heavy Liquid (just started this)
Paul Pope's Escapo
Will Eisner's New York Life in the Big City
Will Eisner's The Name of the Game HC (although I think that's also a part of NY)
The Far Side Gallery 5
The Pre-History of the Far Side

The Walking Dead All Out War AP Edition
Farm 54 HC
Alec "The Years Have Pants" omni HC
Werewolf by Night omni
Fables Peter and Max novel
Some very thing Neil Gaiman book I can't read the title of.
That's what I can see right now. There's a whole pile just as tall behind it. I think Infinite Kung Fu is hidden back there.
It's less funny when you see it. And yet, if I find something in the SA before work today I'll probably add it to the pile. Because why not.
We spent all of December celebrating the holiday season. Speaking of, Kind Storyteller, if you're out there they tried to deliver your book but you weren't there. I think they might have brought it back to the post office. Just giving you a heads up.
First time posting in a buy thread.
My recent haul.
You're in luck then. All are avaliable now. The Fantagraphics collection is kinda pricy - 75$ for a total of 1160 pages in soft cover (nice shiny paper, though) - but Dark Horse ones are mere 25$ for 520+ pages (3 regular tomes) each. And they even have all the covers in color and all. It's a steal. But good luck finding hardcovers, those bastards are much harder to find and much more expensive (and signed by Sakai). I could have gotten two, but they would look weird next to the regular ones and I'd have to sell my kidney to get them so I passed.
So yeah, I got hooked on Usagi. What a fantastic read, I can't believe I was ignoring it for so long. I can't wait for the next Saga tome to come out (April).
>used from $60
Holy shit, mine was still in foil and cost mere $10 since it was on a clearance sale. I had no idea how lucky I was.
I mean, it's a cool ghost story with super pretty watercolors and all, but I'd never pay a dollar for a page.
Managed to track down pic related, just waiting on them to arrive.
Only missing Vol.1 now and I've got a complete set of Fancy Pants Editions.
Bought both for €25 each just need to know where to look.
Yes and what's neat about those editions is that they're all signed by Eric Powell.
That was just new stuff. Here's my shelfs. And yeah, I like Tatsumi a lot. I have A Drifting Life and I've read Abandon the Old in Tokyo, The Push Man, and Good-Bye.
Current "Reading" Shelf
>Animal Man Omni (Currently on Issue #10)
>Bacchus Omni Vol 1 (Starting book 2)
>Copra Vol 2
>West Coast Avengers: Family Ties HC
>Book of the New Sun (1/2 through Shadow of Torturer)
>Male Fantasies Vol 1 & 2 (Frankfurt school feminist criticism of soldier diaries and imagery from WW2)
I have it. I love it. Non-glossy, thick pages. I'll take some pictures later tonight.
That seems to be a pretty common viewpoint. I don't think anything really matches up to Human Diastrophism but I still think Beto's a master. I love the way a lot of that later Luba stuff reads where it's more like you're getting pieces of these lives and little stories about them and their relationships. But I see why it's viewed as lesser.
Really modern Beto shines with the weird stuff he does. I love those Fritz genre b-movie books and Blubber is easily one of my favorite comics of 2015.
>Get Ellis' Stormwatch before reading The Authority
Well, with your get, I must then. Thank you!
Thanks, POFG. I picked it up today. The perfect thing to add to my Frank collection.
shelf for old time's sake. I think I should get the last two trades of Rucka's Punisher for completion.
It would be nice to see a built-in book mark like a ribbon. Why hasn't DC or Marvel included this on their omnibi. If they have, there isn't any ribbon in the omnis I own.
I remember Moore's original ABC HCs of Tom Strong Vol. 1 and Promethea Vol. 1 had ribbons.
Unopened Uncanny X-Force.
Everyone has it but ME! Let me know if you ever want to sell it. Y'know, if you get desperate for cash or something because that is the only reason why I'd sell it.
My Christmas haul
Loving Perez's Wondie and getting through Prophet. Trifecta was fantastic!
Really happy to finally have physical copies of JoJo
I just got this giant Batman V Superman Dawn Of Breakfast box when I finally got together with a friend to exchange gifts.
Whose side are you on?
I can maybe still smell the orgasm Geoff Johns had when he designed this to fit his cereal obession.
I guess I do need more bran to pass a nice big turd like this movie is gonna be.
had this email today, thanks Amazon, I was looking forward to this. . . .
A lot of that stuff is collections of old newspaper comics. There's nothing psuedo intellectual about Nancy man. It's just relaxing to read.
I posted these in a previous thread but may as well post them again.
Top photo is what I got for xmas, bottom photo is what I bought with xmas money.
Only things not pictured are Mezco Cursed Earth Judge Dredd and Suicide Squad: Trial by Fire.
Yes you recommended me the site! I wanted to get the Avenger omni aswell you got yourself. But then again I really wanted ronin.
Guess I paid good money for that xstatix but I can always sell I guess.
Quite easily. I stopped giving a shit through issue 4. Just couldn't stand the writing. Moore is very hit or miss for me. Bored by Watchmen and V for Vendetta but loved Top 10. Why I'm wary to read his Swamp Thing.
I might try again one day but I ain't gonna make it a priority. Got other things to read and reread before that.
Got these instead.
Going to get The Goon next check
I'd say it's unfair to judge it, especially since you haven't read it all yet.
>I stopped giving a shit through issue 4
When Manhattan is on Mars? What didn't you like about it? Personally, it's my favorite part of the story.
Batman is who got me into comics back in the early 90s (and X-Men). Ironcially, my Batman collection is minimal at best. I have Black Mirror, softcovers of Bruce Wayne Murderer, DKR, Year One, and Knightfall Vol 3.
What other Batman books and which particular editions, in and/or out of print, should I try to get? I want to get hardcovers mainly, but softcovers are fine. I'm interested in picking up the No Man's Land softcovers even though I read it when it came out monthly. And I'd like to get HCs of DKR and Year One.
What do you all think?
It felt like a chore to read. When I have to force myself to get through it, I'm just gonna stop. I had the same problem with V for Vendetta when I got to issue 8. I wanted to finish it but I just couldn't get though it.
I've not picked up any new comics since I got some nice stuff for Christmas:
>Ghostbusters: Total Containment
>Ghostbusters: Mass Hysteria
>Ghosbusters Annual 2015 (the only thing I've picked up from the new LCS so far)
>Jonah Hex: Tall Tales
I've only read The Shade so far (Thanks again, anon. I loved it), but I plan to continue reading once I finish up some Star Wars: TFA books I got now that I've finally seen the movie.
The only new thing I've picked up since is a helmet-less Poe Dameron POP! since he's my favorite character from the new movie.
>dat Werewolf By Night omni
I just got chills. That's never happened before. What is going on right now!?
Damn, I got mine for $7 (it was my first Usagi story) and had it signed/sketched by Sakai. I wonder how the Saga trades will go about collecting Yokai, Sensho, and Space Usagi?
For Flash, your best bets are Waid and Johns' runs on Wally. Johns in particular should be easy to find.
Green Lantern's most accessible is also Johns' run, which starts with Green Lantern Rebirth. From there until the New 52 happens, there's also a sister title in Green Lantern Corps, the first volume is called Recharge. All of that is great.
Captain Marvel/Shazam is most easily accessed through Shazam and the Monster Society of Evil, Superman/Shazam: First Thunder, and the New 52 Shazam (currently just one volume).
I also heartily recommend reading 52. It was a weekly series covering the year after Infinite Crisis, a year without Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman. It stars a handful of B- and C-List heroes and is fantastic from start to finish.
Just got these from the Christmas thread. Two arrived yesterday and one today but I picked up both a few hours ago. There's only one card so I think it's from the same person.
Thank you, Mr. A.
My ordering is very precise but completely arbitrary and basically understandable only to me and my current aesthetic mood
But in essence, everything starts divided by publisher, then that is further subdivided into either franchise (batbooks, Mignolaverse), author (especially image books), or similar spines (New52, marvel now). In between different sets of those, I use bridging books that have something in common like author or genre.
I know I'm late but this is the first time I could be bothered to take a picture. Chew and iZombie are my Christmas haul. I just bought the Sandman Omnibus volume 1 a few minutes ago and will begging volume 2 tomorrow.
Here is my first shelf. I took out my Jem & the Holograms comic collection set to but them with my single issues.
And my second shelf. I have the manga at the end here because I don't have enough to dedicate a shelf to them.
>last week UPS didn't ship anything to my lcs
>had to wait until yesterday to get the items off my pull list
>this week UPS didn't ship anything to my lcs, have no idea when my items will get there
Nice to see some saga.
That's where my mind went, plus the whole "metal is now an adjective" thing that's been going on lately.
Can't say it's my favorite interpretation of the music, but your strong recommendation is enough for me to check it out, at least.
I really dig Saga but missed the first 19 issues. So I jumped on this immediately. Great edition and great quality. I think this is what they are doing with Black Science or at least I hope so.
This was much later than "later tonight." Here they are though. I believe the cover art (under the jacket) is new(?) art.
And at 496 pages, it fits right in with the smaller DC omnis
