>>68144453 >What would be in a third avatar series? Based on the rapid, nonsensical technology progression in Korra, I'd imagine Avatar 3 would be set in a space station some sixty billion miles from the planet the fans know about. The warp drives are powered by maple syrup and the crafts themselves are made of crystallized arsenic because that makes as much sense as anything else that happened in this show.
>>68144636 Bending was basically worthless by the finale. Every robot was made of platinum anti-bending alloys or some retarded nonsense. From square one that "platinum is pure" shit didn't make a lot of practical sense. Even if platinum were stupid abundant in the Avatar universe, it's still absurdly heavy and not that great of a structural material.
Imagining that industry could boom as a direct result of metal bending making it easier to produce innovations like the printing press or the assembly lines is perfectly believable - though they took it way too far. However, if metal bending doesn't work on platinum, how the fuck did they build a fifty foot robot out of the stuff?
The fact that it's immune to bending means that traditional forging and metal working would be required, let alone the insane level of engineering you'd need to make that thing work. I mean, it was able to correct its balance better than a human and it exhibited zero signs of yield stress when it was getting banged with giant pieces of concrete. No deformation, nothing.
The Last Airbender showed us that they were on the verge of having tanks. They were using light vehicles that were armored. Then they skipped over that technology and went straight to outlandish steampunk. Then they jumped to cyberpunk, but with spirit vines instead of nuclear fission.
>>68144807 Well, keep in mind that thanks to bending and other factors, technological innovation would be incredibly fast. Especially with metal benders that can perfectly machine components without the help of presses or grinders or anything like that.
I'm wondering though. How different would everything have turned out if Korra had taken Bolin's advances.
Season 1 would probably have been pretty much the same.
Season 2 However, would have been drastically different. "No break up Mako scene." "No avatar Wan flash back though...." She probably would have been hanging around Bolin on the mover sets. A lot of parts in season 2 would have been drastically altered if she was with him. Since Season 2 was all about love triangles, god it was awful.
Also, Korra was needy as fuck, an Bolin is obviously "supporter".
Season 3, More metal bending Hijinks. He might have picked it up. He wouldn't end up with best girl Opal though.
Season 4, Korra would probably have known more about Kuveria.
Also, can we talk about how shit Mako is.
He ruins women, and breaks the Bro before Hoes rules to his own God damn blood brother.
>>68144880 They couldn't show us their incredible sexual chemistry in a kids show. I'm sure one or the other of them literally blacked out from intense multi-orgasmic convulsions during their regular marathon fingering sessions.
>>68144923 Dude, innovation in Korra has exceeded modern engineering by our current era. We cannot presently build humanoid robots that can function like those mecha suits did because we can't figure out how to make them perform all the necessary balance adjustments.
Yeah, they could have a big industrial boom and could make really efficient assembly lines, but that's not what they did. They pinned down aspects of robots, physics, and structural engineering that are well beyond anything we can do in the modern world. It's fucking cyberpunk. Not steampunk aided by magic - straight up cyberpunk. Korra was science fantasy by season four. With that grasp of high level physics and engineering, they should be able to make it into space now.
>>68143539 Varrick marrying his assistant was totally out of character, especially the way he proposed Kuvira suddenly turning good when the avatar saved her was terrible and didn't provide any closure to her arc. Korrasami was whatever.
>>68145837 Kuvira was just an unfortunate product of circumstance. If someone had loved her more, shown her that she had value, then she never would've become a tyrant. Like all good villains, she was a victim too, don't you see?
>>68145837 When season 4 started, I was sure Kuvira would be redeemed in the end by teaming up with Korra to take out an overarching evil, like the real leaders of the Red Lotus or something. She was such an underwhelming final villain for this show.
>>68145601 It's weird that they never did much. I know back in the day they did some action figures, but it fizzled out after Bryke refused to make millions of different armors for Aang.
But there's plenty of room for other merch. Collectibles and things like bags that the teen/older audience would enjoy. It does seem like the artbooks and the like have done well, since they're doing artbooks for each individual season of Korra. But I guess that's not what Nick really wants.
>>68146207 >that's not what Nick really wants Nope, it's all about the action figures for little kiddies. If a show doesn't move that stuff, the executives, usually don't even give it a chance. Avatar is probably the biggest exception to this.
I kinda like the idea of the Earth Avatar being a dude in the somewhat chaotic Earth Federation just trying to make a life for himself and his family, but he's married and bringing up two kids by the time it's discovered he's the Avatar, which understandably throws kind of a wrench into the unambitious but comfortable plans he'd made for a peaceful life with his wife and kids.
It might be especially funny if the bending masters the new Avatar has to learn from are younger than he is, and rather than the least mature of the ensemble, the Avatar is the one with the most life experience and the least bending experience acting as a straight man to his mentors' young people problems.
No real ideas for how villains would continue to manifest, though. I feel like eventually people would acknowledge plans that require defeating the Avatar have never worked out for anyone in history, ever, and stop trying to do so.
Man, that sounds awesome actually. Though I dunno how he would avoid figuring out he is the avatar, they usually pick up on that stuff at an early age. Especially since they will be looking for him the second korra dies.
He'll be the first reincarnation of the new avatar cycle, maybe they could just make up a way for it to work. "The cycle takes longer now" or some vague bullshit.
>>68145663 >Implying she didn't have ladyboners for Su. Honestly, that's kinda how I interpreted that. She had a thing for Su, but Su rejected her. After that she was further disappointed in Su when she wouldn't step up and take control. She took Su's son to hurt her emotionally.
Might just be sorta a snap-back. This is the first avatar that would be born without several hundred lifetimes of bending experience encoded into his soul, after all, so the prodigal manifestations in Aang and Korra followed by the loss of all the past lives might mean the next Avatar doesn't feel the same instinctive attunement with other elements until he starts to train in them.
I like the idea of progressing from a kid who is a master of one element learning about the other three, to a young adult who has already mastered three elements in a purely technical sense but needs to learn the fourth and the spirituality she lacks, to a guy that isn't a prodigy when it comes to Bending at all but has far more experience with the world than the last two avatars.
Part of his journey would be restoring the memories of his past lives somehow, because seriously fuck that twist.
>>68146485 Well, Korra now knows how shitty is being treated as "the avatar" without even having a chance to live a normal life first, so she probably will change it like Aang changed white lotus in his era
