Hey /co/, how about an animated music video thread?
Weird als got a few.
This one is by The Bill Plympton himself
Stop motion is animation as well
/V/ related one
This one's weeaboo, but it's been on my brain for a week now. Not the usual putting a tv series into a blender and doing jump-cuts on each beat of the song.
>studio killers thing
may i ask what is the appeal of her? her face is really creepy to me and just overall design is rather off-putting. also tumblr loves her so that's an obvious red flag
Only a part of the movie is animated, but definitely The Wall. You need to watch the whole thing to really appreciate the animated segments.
Each segment represents a horseman of the apocalypse. Famine, Pestilence, War, and Death.
>implying it's not Weird Al's
You need some mandatory fun in your life.
>I lead a life of leisure
>I juggle in the rain
>I trained to be a barber
>'cus Beelzebub is my name
can anyone help me find this animated music video I vaguely remember?
There was this giant machine with a face floating over this planet, I think it was slowly turning the planet into something else. Then there's someone on the surface who destroys it somehow
really vague but that's all I remember
Are we only suggesting music videos published by the original record company?
No, no it's modern.
I remember some of the lyrics but it's not leading me to the song. It's very jazzy.
"Monkey led another monkey up a tree,
He said stop you're playing,
You can't fool me."
I don't know if any links are to " do i wanna know" by arctic monkeys, but it's my favorite animated music video. super creative. Not big on the art style, but it's still great.
>Mika - Lollipop
>That black wolf thing
What the fuck I saw that thing in the Ekkosangen video Tirrel made, I didn't know he lifted it from Mika.
How the fuck have I never seen this I fucking love Mika
>I am ahead
>I am advanced
>I am the first mammal to wear pants
hoh kay here's the GOAT stuff
Danger Mouse and Daniele Luppi - Two Against One:
Gotye - State Of The Art
LOST LANDER - Wonderful World
Toh Kay - With Any Sort Of Certainty
Just - Streetlight Manifesto
Shit I thought the only animated video was Would You Be Impressed
guess I've been out of the loop for a long ass time
Whatever happened to 99 songs of Revolution anyway? I was looking forward to the rest
Does anyone know this one music video? I saw it on TV once. It had sort of a paper cut out animation style and it was about these guys landing on an alien planet in their rocket ship. Pretty sure the only lyrics were Doo doo doo do do do doo.
>no Prison Sex or Sober
regardless of how you feel about Tool, those videos are fucking cool
It is now
I know I'm missing a few and only got up to >>66686251 but it's 2 am so I'm just gonna post it since I finished a row.
I wanna revamp this thing someday and make it more organised anyway, but today is not this day.
Winter Trees - The Staves
Ghossts - Lorn
Just Alone - Street Light
Udoroth - A Sound of Thunder
Thought of You.
N.A.S.A. - Spacious Thoughts
I think this is actually the best animated music video ever made. It's an hour long, has an overarching plot, solid visuals, and the entire soundtrack is GOAT.
You're missing Interstella 5555.
"MAKE EM PURR" - SAGE FRANCIS [official video]: http://youtu.be/bjxHy8WTgTs
I don't remember its name but the video was of a forest it got flooded and it had weird animals does this ring a bell for anyone for the life of me i can't remember the group they were some obscure irish group or something of the sort.
Also gotye has some good ones https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4_lBT1OG_Y
I unironically like this, it's strangely catchy to me
but also I'm surprise this hasn't been posted yet, neat animation and music
>but also I'm surprise this hasn't been posted yet
Yes it was, do you even read the threads?
Second link is rather low quality.
Some might have been already posted
I've got these two
For you 40k fans out there
idk if counts, but, there's a lot of animation in here:
After Minnie the moocher being a hit song for a year, Cab Calloway and WBros made it into a cartoon (rotoscoping sequence at 4:15). This is one of the first things you can call a music video:
Any Opinions on this one? Not the best animation ever in function, but the style is wonderful, and the video fits the music really well, creating something that I think creates a nice experience between the two of them.
i'm just doing youtube seraches of favorite music bands/artists and adding the word "animation" or "animated"
don't let this thread die for a while. relevant to muh interdasts
well let's keep it that way
Tom Waits For No One - Animated 1979 ... John Lamb
The Cat Piano - Nick Cave narrating a poem written by Eddie White
Threads like these are why /co/ remains my favorite board
That was delightful
Although I'm confused as to why they had the truck fall, and then redid the sequence and gave it booster jets
always liked this one, even started to make a figure
I'd love some help with this one, it's a stop motion animation with a guy chilling in his sofa in front of the TV then the devil appears and stalks him until he takes him to hell, of course my memories are kinda blurry since I watched this at a very young age.
We're going back in time folks.
Some of my first exposure to anime.
What the hell happened to anime? I know this is more /a/ than /co/, but it just seemed to have more imagination and life back in the day.
How ridiculously depressing. Dude needs a freaking hug.
The sky's still blue nigga.
Maybe, but it's not much the quality of animation that I'm talking about, I mean the overall design of it. The backgrounds, the characters the worlds, a lot of what I remember watching had more a fantastic imagination behind it.
Most of what is out now is very modern, even things set in a fantasy type world are uniform and neat.
Hell, maybe it is just nostalgia.
Might be part nostalgia, partially not. I think in addition to the noteworthy examples sticking out in your mind more than the boring cliche ones, you have to consider what is popular and easy to do now. High school drama is cheap and popular. It floods the anime market at the moment.
Cleanliness is the style now because we have technology and it's not literally painting on cells it's filling in things in digital. Also CG. It's all still the same but there's no grain and no paint involved.
this was the saturday line up for me.
(seen every episode as far as i know)
then there was some cartoon that had aliens and the intro song was the doors "people are strange". if anyone remembers it please reply
Animation isn't great, but it has some cool stuff in there.
Gonna try to post ones I haven't seen in the thread yet.
Austin TV - Shiva
Die Toten Hosen - Zehn Kleine Jagermeister
TMBG - The Shadow Government
Illya Kuryaki & The Valderramas - Yacaré
Breakbot - Baby I'm Yours
Peter Gabriel - Sledgehammer
Gnarls Barkley - Gone Daddy Gone
Ape School - Wail to God
TMBG - The Mesopotamians
Not sure if these count, but
Alice in Chains - I Stay Away
Genesis - Land of Confusion
I like Homestuck but I really hate watching videos related to it on youtube because then I'll be flooded with recommendations for other Homestuck things. Does it at least have good animation? What ever happened to that one Homestuck fan animation that was looking pretty good.
It's been a LONG time since I heard that, I remembered the lyrics being better.
Here's my contribution.
Not traditional animation, rotoscoping. Looks good though.
Does anyone know that one music vid where a moth lands on plant and sends these creatures to go capture the little people living on said plant? I was younger when I saw this vid and I'd like the chance to see it again, can't remember the artist or the band of w song otherwise I'd have found it by now.
Gamer has some of the coolest retro stuff:
Also look up Flashing Lights.swf
You'd think there'd be more discussion of Gorillaz, since apparently Damon Albarn just announced that they're aiming for a 2016 release for the next album.
Have some videos.
The high quality version seems to have been taken down sadly
How has this fucking not been posted yet?
These two might be interesting to add
Madder Mortem - Where Dream and Day Collide
Not as cool as when it was new but damn that bass, its still awesome.
Kashmir - Rocket Brothers
Someone might have posted it already as there is a big chance I might've missed it in the thread. But this one is a classic for me, still a bit heart-wrenching.
Hey. To Whoever posted this. If you're still there
For weeks after my granddad's passing I didn't feel anything, didn't cry. And I felt really bad for not feeling anything. I worried there was something wrong with me. And then I watched this video. At first it was just funny and sad and beautiful, but I kept rewatching it over several days until the sad part really started to resonate with my life. And anyway I just finished watching it again and was hit with this rush of emotion like I hadn't felt in a long time, maybe ever. And anyway I just wanted to share my bitch tears with you, cuz you really helped me out, anon.
So, thanks bro.
No Mdotstrange yet? I'm surprised!
The Left Rights-Genesis 16:12
Rabbit Junk-BREAK SHINS TO THIS
Well, yes. It's still full of cliches and tropes which plague japanise animation, but it's more subdued and down to earth. It feels like it has been written by and brring to life the vision of a single person not a workgroup or a board tasked with profit and maximisin the number and scope of viewers and pandering. Also the music is interesting and plays a nice part of the story. It's long though and doesn't exactly end properly.
tl;dr down-to-earth slice-of-life coming-of-age-25 mature-ish girl-drama with music done well
