This is one instance where I disagree with the majority of /co/.
I think this episode was pretty excellent, and it far exceeded my expecations considering I was expecting something dull and slow. I feel like I know more about Lars and Sadie as characters, and they feel more real to me.
I'll give it an 8 or possibly a 9 out of 10 and I can't wait to see it again on 1080p.

I liked it. About all I got to say on that.

Fleshing out the other characters in the show will give the episodic, gag a day style longevity. Or that's just what I think.

Given that line of thinking, very few of the episodes have been stale for me.

QT’s arms stretched out to catch the stone as it sailed past, but its inexplicable vibrating thwarted any attempt to grab it. Now, unimpeded by man and robot alike, the pearl did as physics decreed and clattered to the ground.

Its would-be owners quickly rushed to the fallen gem, questions about why it had wrenched itself from Dandy’s grip were pushed aside by far more important inquiries like, ‘Did it get scratched?’, ‘Was it cracked?’, and ‘Can we still sucker someone into paying top dollar for it if yes was the answer to one or both of the previous questions?’ To their relief, they saw no visible fractures of any sort on the pearl’s surface. It seemed that this gem wasn’t as fragile as either of them feared.

“Hah!” Dandy smirked, turning to face QT. “And you were worried about me dropping i-.”

The pearl erupted in a brilliant and enormous blaze of light.

But since Dandy and QT were looking at one another at the time, they were only half-blinded.

I liked this episode because there were a lot of gritty details. Sadies legs were my favorite part. The entire episode was kind of disgusting when you think about it.

Your loss. Both characters are just confused young people who are still trying to discover who they are and what they want. This is just the bumpy road that most of us have gone through, or are still going through. Sadie and Lars both did some stupid shit that they later regretted and probably learned from.

Feel free to hate these characters if you really want, but a lot of you seem to be so black and white about their intentions. Think about their age and what you acted like (assuming you're at least 16) and maybe you'll also see a paranoid, psychotic, emotional, imperfect being who was more of a grey figure rather than completely black or white.

I've been rewatching the entire show recently, and it's even more common than I first realised. Time and time again, Garnet is the one who trusts Steven's judgement and abilities. I think it's partially because she's so confident in her own physical abilities; she's less concerned about the prospect of Steven being injured than the other two, because she's more assured in her ability to protect him if he does spring a trap, or fall off a ledge.Which is why it's all the more scary when Garnet loses her shit (Arcade Mania, So Many Birthdays, Mirror Gem).

The thing Lars said about being alone even when there are people around seems to imply he's got some self esteem problems. I want to say maybe it's neglect that he got from his parents, but it could also just be self-doubt that comes from his awkward attempts to be charismatic. It seems like the only way he knows to communicate is through pessimistic remarks and busting peoples balls. He even tried it with the cool kids, which basically failed utterly.

He's socially inept and seems to have a self loathing issue going on. He pushes all his self confidence problems out like it's other people's fault, probably because that's just his natural response.

The fact Sadie tries to be nice to him ad he just brushes it off is all apart of the "you can't love someone if you don't love yourself." Sure he likes Jenny Pizza, but it seems a physical attraction because he barely knows her.

So I'm not vindicating Lars of all the stupid shit his done, but he seems like a character people misunderstand.

Well... yeah. That's kind of what moms do. He may have come from Rose, but for all intents and purposes Pearl treats Steven as though he were her own offspring. He's the most important thing in the world to her.

Garnet, on the other hand, is more like a distant but supportive father figure. Sure, he's not around as much as you'd like and he only hugs you on your birthday and sometimes Christmas, but he'll always bail you out of trouble when you really need it and backs the choices you make.
