Question from a latino who's never seen this shit: Do furries actually go outside on their fursuites(?), walking around and doing mundane shit?
>>
>>65402391
We've never seen one without the outfit. Yes, they keep them on constantly.
>>
Some do, but only the weirdest ones. Like guys we dress up in a Starfleet uniform and go grocery shopping. I don't think most furries do. Some just wear a tail and ears in public, but a full time fursuiter is pretty rare I'd say.
>>
>>65402231
I don't see how, though. I mean just look at this "gang." You've got the main bad guy obsessed with furrys, a slacker, a guy with a mohawk AND a ponytail, a guy who looks like Justin Bieber, another who looks like Sluggo, and that sex-talk guy with anime hair. All in 50s leather jackets!
>>
>>65402490
>wear a tail and ears in public

Damn that sounds autistic as fuck, but anyway, are they actually harassed on the street for shit like this? Or is it just normal laughter and weird looks that the furries blown out of proportion in their little bizarre world? Something in-between?
>>
>>65402391
Most only wear them to conventions and gatherings, the ones who take them outside usually bring cameras to record people's reactions
>>
>>65402575
I've never heard of one actually getting beat up. At most people call them names or just laugh at them.

I remember this one photoset I saw somewhere a few years ago where this furry dressed up in his costume and went to some school picnic. He talked about how awesome the day was and what a great time everyone had, how they like posing for pictures with him, etc., etc., how they liked his fursona, and so on. But the kids (all 3rd graders, maybe), every single one of them looked uncomfortable, apprehensive, and even a little creeped out. Dude was oblivious to it, though. Kind of sad, really. I don't think he was a child molester or perv or anything, he just honestly thought people loved his furry stuff, when really, they kinda maybe didn't.

So are furries a religion stand in in this comic?

no... well yes, fuck me I love femdom.
>>

Entirely possible, but even then the worst they'd do is say no to a guy who wanted to fuck their brains out. Plus, from what we've seen of the furries in the comic, the women don't seem like they're very into femdom. That might be wrong, I have no idea, but from what I see of them most of them seem like they'd be totally fine with getting a nice fuck from a non-furry stranger once in a while.
>>
>>65405245
I ain't even furry and Utopia is relevant to my interests. Its well written, and the art is solid.

The one thing that really clicked with me was the fact that it's unapologetically different. There's too many webcomics out there that just try to ride on the coattails of other successful comics, e.g. video game comics that repeat the same jokes over and over.

But, a comic about furries of all things, and it's actually really good? I'm sold!

Oh, yeah. For a while I was hoping he WASN'T really a furry. Just brought into the cult and used by them to have an insider in the police. They themselves - they're something different.

That's really what's enjoyable about all of this, isn't it? Making up a completely different story in the background? Or not? The Furtaugh stuff is pretty good. I enjoy Law & Order: Special Yiffing Unit.
>>
>>65405826
That's exactly what they are in the comic.

The furries in the comic are not the same as real life furfags. They're a marginalised religious group, not just a bunch of creepy fetishists.
>>
>>65405811

Utopia is bizarre in a good way to me. The Furtaugh parts are just fantastic, while the furry-centric comics are oddly charming, like they're pro-furry propaganda being showcased by a neutral party.
>>
>>65405862
not just a religious group, mind. There's some seriously shady stuff going on.

I agree, Furtaugh is the best character. The police force hate him because he's a furry and the furries hate him because he doesn't wear his fursuit on duty. The story makes good use of having Furtaugh as the underdog too.
>>
>>65406050
The caste system shit is creepy, as as is the Council in general. Not to mention the apparent brainwashing. I don't know if that one arc where we watched the guy in the dog suit go looking for a job was supposed to come across as enlightening and uplifting regarding their mind-set, but to me it read like a horror story featuring a character who doesn't realize what kind of situation he's in. It comes across to me like this guy and, presumably, others are only a small push away from turning Furry Town into Jonestown.

From that same story there's also the whole thing about how Furtown is so insular that they'll provide for the furries that live there, kind of like some kind of charity or welfare, but they still want all of their furries to go out and get real jobs. It made a big deal about how furries go out of their way to seem hire-able for the good of all furries.

It's very, very strange.

In the Dreaming of Utopia comic universe, the plot is driven by three different but equally important character groups. The descendents of PTSD'ed WWI vets who founded a quasi-pagan religion, the white gang-bangers who beat and steal from them, and the black detective who breaks all the rules for the religion that has ostracized him. These are their stories.

See, I've wondered about this. In the very beginning, it's stated that Barky is going to meet his new girlfriend. We know nothing about her. We do know that there has never been a mixed coupling in the comic, hence the castes. We know that the leader of the Skullz learns about easy targets from some source that he won't reveal. The Council is clearly hiding shit and seem to be invested in how murder helps their PR.

I think Barky decided to date outside of his species. The Council found out and leaked his routine to the Skullz. They won't open files to Furtaugh, because he may connect the murders back to the Council being involved in some of them.

Then there's the Shepherd who kills furries in the subway. Again, the first one we see is going to meet his girlfriend. Again, we learn nothing about who she is, before or after. There's just something about it. It's not a typical webcomic. There's like this serious dark vibe going on. It's like it wants to be Watchmen or V for Vendetta or Dark Knight Returns or something. It could veer off into that or just go the other way and get 100% goofy. The not knowing is what gets me.
>>

>>

>>
>>65410220
Is that true? I know that Don Quixote was beloved back when it was written. I've never researched it, however. Was the author trying to make garbage?
>>
>>65405633
Dogs, foxes, wolves etc. don't do that so why would furries who think they're those animals?
>>
>>65410287
>>65410220
I don't mean someone intentionally trying to make something bad, I mean someone who is trying to portray something like say genocide in a positive light, but they fuck it up and manage to make some sort of deep message about world peace or something without even realizing it.
>>
>>65410287
Well, he wasn't trying to make garbage, but he tried to make a book that wasn't very serious and would be a parody of knight stories, a character that was stupid and ridiculous and showed what he thought of people who read knight stories (which is kind of the same attitude most people have about people who read knight stories now).

In the end, it became so popular that for some, Don Quixote is now seen as a symbol of liberty, and to be fair, Cervantes ended up making a pretty decent satire of the society of its time.
>>
>>65410426
>>65410421
Ah, I see. Succeeding far beyond your intent or expectations.
>>
>>65410014
No, because what he is describign is essentially trying to see which of the two places it hangs itself.

>>65410287
Beloved? Not quite, as it was specifically written to make fun of the wealthy people of the old aristocracy for trying to stick to a world that had already abandoned (and in fact, every character within said book is a gold mine of references to hundreds of other works, historical events, and political positions in Spain and in the European Canon). How central was this to the final product is up to debate (mostly because the seriousness of the criticism varies a lot), but the second book providing a reflection of all these and more, particularly when Don Quixote finally falls and has to put away his armour, supporting the idea that this was at least a planned thing and a central reason for many of the things within the books.

Think about how many authors immediately describe their own work as an allegory. How many trailers have used that word? It's this kind of head-up-ass behavior that makes me doubt that this is some kind of sneaky, mind-blowing satire.

And even if it was, the implications that come across are offensive. There's satire about real groups of people having been subject to persecution, and there's groups of people in fiction subject to the same fate, allowing the audience to make a connection. And THEN, there's a real group that we know exists but doesn't act in this capacity and have never been treated in this way. Right from the get go it's creating a problem for the sake of creating a problem to give the story some kind of tension in the dumbest way possible.

Let me condense all of this into something much shorter for you guys - self-pitying, hamfisted, knot-twisted, third rate, second to none, first class bullshit. Anything else is advertisement. He already quotes "anon from 4chan" in his trailers, so if you rocket scientists know any better you won't keep making threads about this.

Most people on 4chan don't actually understand what the hate is about, they're just blindly following what they've been told to follow. When you have someone who's mindlessly throwing a fit because he thinks he's supposed to be throwing a fit with no real idea why, then it becomes an unreasonable spectacle pretty fucking quickly. >>

>>65408586

That makes sense.

In the book, the furry religion is completely benign. They don't have a system for hostility or punishment. Although that's not saying they hug things to death, it is saying that any sort of hostility or violence against other furries would never be tolerated.

So the council arranges violence against other furries under the ostracism of hate crimes.

slimegirls are still monstergirls right? Or do you distinguish now? I heard someone say Dullahans weren't monstergirls anymroe and were their own thing but I haven't been to /d/ in a while.
>>
>>65414070
Think I saw that in an autism thread. That or a derail dump. Basically, /v/ hates anything that's not Samus, Nintendo princesses, Bayonetta, fighting game grills, and Morrigan. There's generally a lot of "weeb shit" fighting too, so Japanese characters that look "anime-esque" get a Penn Jillette reaction image.
>>
>>65414213
slimegirls get there own thread, but also appear seldom on monstergirl threads. its like a square rectangle thing.we also have monstergirls threads, hell even sub monstergirl threads like futa/bbw monstergirls (last one was pretty fuckin nice)
I dont think I know anything about Dullahans though
>>
>>65414179
I'm /d/isgusting too, those threads are some of my favorites. It's just pathetic seeing /v/ decide that since slime/goo is monstergirl, and centaurs are also monstergirls, anything monstergirl is furry. We were a step away from declaring robot girls furry/fur shit.
>>
>>65414040
Shitposters on /v/ really will find a way to twist everything so they can claim it's furry shit, and the legitimate retards will eat it right up.
The best thing to do is to never care and keep posting while they cry.
>>
>>65413444
I think he just used furries as a metaphor so that it would stop people from getting too involved, really. If you write a story about persecution and morality with a fictional group then it's really easy for people who insist on missing the forest for the trees to project meanings that aren't there (or at least weren't intended by the author) onto things and if you use historical groups then that's another, similar can of worms. However, if you use furries then that ties up a lot of lose ends at once - most people don't really give a shit one way or the other about furries so they don't get emotionally invested or form positive opinions quickly just because of the nature of the characters (well not to excess; it's really more like the author is intentionally hamstringing the emotional investment in his comic in deference to the writing), it's much more difficult to project onto them because they have an extant stigma and because furries don't really even exist outside of the internet (yes, I know there are conventions and sexual deviants and whatnot; you know what I mean) there aren't really any tracks that need to be followed there.

I think that the author is a smart cookie.
>>
>>65414295
Wait centaurs aren't monstergirls either?
>>65414294
that's neat. I don't go to /d/ because I'm a sizefag and /d/ has the worst size threads. I think it's because it's a pretty diverse fetish but it's so starved for content it can't facilitate multiple threads, so you get everyone shoved together
>>
>>65414295
haha, I wouldn't imagine robot girls being a problem. /v/ shits over everything though, so what else is new.
Did you ever see that Vivian thread on /d/? Now that was pretty nice.
Also, centaurs are unf tier
>>
>>65414295

any robot without a human face is pretty much on the same terms though.

like, Metal Gear Rex or Blade Wolf for example.
>>
>>65414351
Personally Octopus/squid girls are top tier for me centaurs are a close second.
>>
>>65414328
>The Summer Furry Crusades

>>
>>65414349
centaurs are another subclass that can often have their own threads.
I don't know much about that size, but I feel you on that one. personally, I'm a bbw guy for the most part, but the chub and preg threads have it alright with me too.
>>65414379
Squid/octgirls are pretty nice too
>>
>>65414349
>size fetish
I gotta agree, /d/'s size threads suck. For whatever reason, there's a bunch of pretentious faggots who throw a hissy fit when other people "ruin" their thread with images they don't personally like.
Surprisingly, the best size threads I've seen are on /mlp/. Regular discussion, decently civil (usually), regular drawfriends. They like vore a lot though.
>>
>>65414415
>tfw you like above average sized preg, but not hyper stuff, and nobody draws any middleground between normal and hyper
Also size gets pretty damn bad on /d/. Shitposting about growth versus shrink, "murderfags" getting mad at gentle lovers, and honestly /d/ has pretty shit taste since they like that several miles tall destroying continents with their feet giga size bullshit. It's a super varied and spread out fetish and we all have to bunk together since there's not enough content for several threads.
>>
>>65414497
>several miles tall destroying continents with their feet giga size bullshit
I don't know how people like this. It's like stepping on molecules, there's nothing even exciting or arousing about it, it's just silly, like planet-sized giants. They get really uptight and bitchy if you mention this though.
>>
>>65414461
Sizefags are just the biggest fucking babies. I mean when your fetish is usually a manifestation of mommy issues and being a beta pushover I guess it makes sense but it's just nothing but bitching, blaming and drama.
>someone posts vore, gentlefags get mad at murderfags
>someone posts shrink, growthfags start antagonizing shrink lovers
>someone posts mini gts/amazon, some bitches the size difference is too small to count
>someone posts the latest Karbo picture, some autist gets upset about his stupid comic on Lulu which wasn't even mentioned and he brought it up himself
It's the fucking worst.
>>65414563
/d/ greatly suffers from topic fatigue, if you mention a problem in size general they just go yeah but we're too far gone to do anything about it and just continue to fester. Ironically /co/ has some of the best damn size threads I've seen.
>>
>>65414607
>/d/ greatly suffers from topic fatigue
And the hilarious thing is the size fags are forced to break up into specialized threads for "gentle giantesses only, no murderfags allowed," and it either stagnates with little content or someone posts say, a male giant and everyone flips out and spams the thread.
>>
>>65414335
Furries have a bad reputation anyway, and the author is playing to that. I think that's why he chose furries in the first place, and you can believe how people in the comic are creeped out or hostile to them, regardless of the furries' intentions.
>>
>>65414497
bbw/chub threads used to be pretty bad with shitposters complaining the size of picA wasn't big/small enough. They've calmed down pretty recently though.
>>65414563
I've contemplated if this is physically possible. To shrink this size you'd literally need to shrink molecules down to ~10^-21 their original size. The energy required to do that must be extrordinary

/d/ has a pretty good sense of humor.
>>
>>65414707
It's pretty much the most autistic place on /d/. I just wish I could enjoy the fetish but escape the retards. /co/ has pretty good discussion about it but little content.

Someone once asked why there's little good giantess art compared to the rest of most fetishes. The answer was that art takes hard work and requires you to challenge yourself, and most giantessfags are the polar opposite of that. Hell shrink is all about turning absolutely ordinary everyday tasks and objects into insurmountable obstacles a giant lady who loves you like a pet has to help you with.
>>

1:snouts. Anything with a non-human face tends to get instantly placed into the dangerously furry category and monster girls hardly ever have faces that fall outside of human-like.
2: They are not associated with autistic crazies like fursuiters that make sane people want to set themselves on fire for sharing the same planet with.
3:They are not based on real creatures so they don't have the association with zoophillia that furries do.

>Webcomic Creator Threads

I've learned to start avoiding the hell out of those now. They seem like a good idea when you start off but overtime people start getting too comfortable with presenting ideas instead of actual products, they can keep saying they'll get it done without working on it. Generally they always turn into circlejerks as well, people won't give hard criticism in them.

I've learned only one thing from those threads

Only come in if you have someone that is done or truly in progress. Don't spend too much time in them, more time talking about your project is less time working on it. If you get involved with the group then find maybe 3 people who seem like they can help you or worth keeping around then leave.

According to the LORE, the hardest part of the costume to find would be the heads and feet. The furry suits in the comic are more like overalls, not the fake fur shag carpet of a real furry's suit. Be cheap to make them.
>>
>>65424786
But he's perfect. Plus I really liked the idea of having all the furry character played by famous actors, the human characters by unknowns, and Furtaugh, since he is a furry, just unmasked, played by someone famous as well.

Which reminds me that I hope we see what converting to furryism later in life is like, or even possible. Furtaugh represents someone lapsed in religion, so having the reverse seems inevitable.
The only issue is that Furtown is so separate from the world, does the Council even let people convert?
>>
>>65425832
Based on their belief model as it is currently established they're clearly not a missionary religion but I think they would also allow converts, but only if they believed the convert had true conviction. So it's possible but they'd probably have to be a better furry than most furries born into the religion to even be considered by the council.

Kinda like how when you see a white guy in a black gang you know that he's probably the craziest motherfucker there.
>>
>>65426091
I imagine they're like Jews. I fucking know, but I'm serious, hear me out. Jews don't proselytize or seek converts. If you wanted to convert it's allowed, but there's an extensive study process. You need to go through a lot of religious education, prove you know it, and then commit to about a year or so of following all the practices and teachings with a mentor in order to both prove you are devout and, possibly more important, that it's truly something you want to do. I'm sure most people who aren't born into it couldn't take wearing the fursuit all day, everyday, so a lengthy trial period would be a must.

I think this one is the most hilarious page.

I'm imagining an alternate DC movieverse where Bane is a leader of a furry terrorist group who want to stage the largest furcon in recorded history in Gotham City.

> Gotham is yours! Yiff where you please, none shall interfere!

Yes, because every single furry has a perfect resume.
>>
>>65411120
How fitting, considering the author takes his comic too seriously.
Not the same guy, I'm just saying, this seems way too serious to me.

GODDAMNIT.

Fuck you OP. I had forgotten this insane shit existed. Now I'm going to lose like an hour catching up. I can't help it.

Fuck what is wrong with me, what is wrong with humanity.

Slow fire.

All those flammable suits would make the ultimate wicker man
>>
Have you read the FAQ? His intentions are mostly serious, yet he's self-aware enough to laugh right along with any/everyone else.
>>
>>65430751
I feel like the author used to be a furry and realized how dumb it was and thought about how furryism would go down in real life.

I had a one night stand with Donald Rumsfeld, I can confirm this.
>>
>>65435748
in this bizzaro universe, yes
>>
>>65427257
I wouldn't go that far. I've picked up 5 new fetishes since browsing /d/
>>
>>65436893
Futa, futa with piercings, futa with piercings, futa with balls, and futa without balls doesn't count as five fetishes.
>>
>>65436988
haha but no
more tame stuff like tg, monstergirls, body swap, that kind of stuff. Also be and huge tits but those feel more normal. Cowgirls though, unf

I wouldn't totally agree. I'm sure there are plenty of people who don't find expansion/wg and macro mutually exclusive like it seems most people do.

I'm okay with macro/light-muscle though
>>
>>65437302
Whoa, what crawled up your ass and died fried?
>>
>>65437406
hm, perhaps you're right. I feel like there should be a chart for this. Should it be 2 or 3 dimensions?
>>
>>65437444
depends how indepth you're going to go. If anything it'd probably be a spectrum and the further apart 2 things are the bigger the aversion to combining them.

And then there's all that weird shit that isn't central to the fetish and aren't fetishes in their own right but are proverbial cherries on top of others.
>>
>>65437495
hm, well I know there are muscle girls, weight gain, and strongfat, so there are combinations of those. I suppose for one side of the spectrum there should be the opposite, such as shrinking fetishes to counteract the giantesses, which the aforementioned two can't be combined being dead opposites. Perhaps three dimensions, with one dimension being height, one being fat/weight content, and one being muscle. I think BE and big butt would be under a different chart, since they more emphasize a particular body part, just like those massive vagina threads
>>
So I've started reading this thing and cannot seem to stop for some reason. Is this normal

That shit is downright bizarre.

Anyway I think we need more people with several viewpoints to make the list accurate.
>>
>>65437777
it's just so utterly bizarre and fascinating. and well written too; there doesn't seem to be an end in sight to the comic, but the prose is so snappy that you can't help but read on

>And then there's all that weird shit that isn't central to the fetish and aren't fetishes in their own right but are proverbial cherries on top of others.
Isn't that exactly what furry itself is? (not in the comic's sense)
>>
>>65438043
This cult is so weird. I mean, holy crap. Furry as I might be, if this shit happened in real life, it'd be really hard to sympathize with them. I hope the author is aware.
>>
>>65438056
It was difficult to look at it that way without the edit.
But I can definitely see why you would.
>>
>>65438105
Naw, anthropomorphic animals are pretty main line fetishism, I'm talking about miniscule weird shit like prehensile hair.

It's a hold over from the old days. Furries used to be obnoxious as shit, now they're very rarely brought up,seen or heard. They were the "bronies" of the early internet only worse.
