Lackadaisy Cats could certainly be a contender, but the update schedule doesn't really work for me. I stopped reading ages ago and it looks like there haven't even been 40 pages done since. I'll finish it up whenever it's done.
It doesn't show up much on /co/: not much wifubait, no SJW pandering, long plot arcs, and no loser NEET protagonist. but I enjoy it. has been heard to have been referred to by certain con planners as "that horrible Blackwater comic."
I really like Mulberry Gallows. It's kind of hit-or-miss, but the hits outweigh the misses in my opinion. I can't shake the feeling that he could have gotten better at drawing if he had tried at all, though. Kind of a shame.
>>64603312 I have this weird cycle going on where I binge Schlock Mercenary, catch up to it, read the daily updates, gradually lose track of what's going on, abandon it, forget it for a year or so, repeat. Right now I'm at the losing track part.
>>64602712 "What is my favorite webcomic of the moment." I come across a webcomic and make a decision "do these couple posts look good? should I bother?" If it seems even vaguely worthwhile I go and read the whole thing, obsessively read all that is there, then usually never go back again later for newer posts. I've read some truly terrible stuff.
>>64603497 No, she is a social justice warrior. She wrote a giant saga about how radical feminists aren't real and are made up by crazy people to discredit feminism. She's not a normal reasonable person, she is a radfem piece of shit.
Her comic was too big to post but picture this comic except way longer and even more condescending and retarded.
>>64604368 I hate this comic since the word "radical" can mean extreme, which is exactly how the guy is using it. Yes, there is a subset of feminism called radical feminism that focuses on male supremacy and female oppression. There's also a thing called adjectives being attached to nouns.
>>64604820 The hell are you talking about? Most feminazi content on this website is reactionary comics and greentext based on actual examples of ridiculous behaviour on the part of people claiming the cause of 'feminism'.
If it didn't exist, there wouldn't be such a violent distaste for it.
>>64607492 Read the first ten comics. If you're interested, you'll know why. If, by that point, you're still confused about why people like it: it's because The art is expressive, the characters are fun, and the dialogue is fucking strange. Also, the artist is a pretty fun guy who visits /co/ from time to time.
>>64607767 >Read the first ten comics. If you're interested, you'll know why. Also, the artist is a pretty fun guy who visits /co/ from time to time. The whole point is the dialogue is supposed to be like those webcomic edits where they replace the actual dialogue with completely ridiculous and crass shit. Removing the words would make it boring.
>>64608028 It's not so much the amount of words which kills it for me, it's that shitty ass font which is two sizes too small as well as literally cramming the words into the speech bubbles, making it totally fucking unreadable
>Okay, so back in the bad old days, there was Keenspot. They ran a free comic service called Keenspace. Anyone could have a webcomic on Keenspace, but it was just free space. You didn't get any money from it and had no store. Keenspot gave you a cut of the revenue and set you up with a store and other benefits. It was where you aspired to be on that network.
>So Clay from Sexy Losers got a decent readership at that time and decided to apply for Spot. It wouldn't be unprecedented, there were a few other adult comics on it, so he figured why not?
>The thing is, for some reason the application process needed the comic to get vetted by other spot people. There wasn't just a single overlord who decided.
>Anyway, it went to this committee, which included Willis and Schlock Mercenary guy, and the answer came back as kind of a "well, maybe now's not the best time."
>However, an enterprising fellow by the name of Ghastly had somehow gotten access to the chat where the application was going to be discussed and, in a moment of early internet great trolling, took the chatlog from it and posted it on the Keenspace forums. As it turns out, there was really no chance of it being approved. Schlock Mercenary guy said if SL got in, he was going to leave and he had a big readership, so he was probably what killed it. BUT! The best line from it all was Willis saying "I wish he [Clay] could see this so he'd know how much we hate him."
>Naturally, this caused an enormous shitstorm since it painted Keenspot people in a pretty terrible light to have such a bunch of petty assholes running it. The guy from RPG World was pretty much the only nice guy among them. So a bunch of yelling went on and Clay withdrew his request and then left Keenspace (why stay when it was clear the ruling body of the place didn't want you around?).
>A particularly annoying thing happened when Schlock Mercenary left the site 5 months later, anyway.
>But then a particularly funny thing happened a year or two later. Space Coyote's comic was nominated for Spotting. Like, she didn't apply, they asked her in. And her response was that they shat on someone who was her friend and offered no apology for it, so why would she want to belong to their little club? Mic dropped and she left the Keen network also.
>That's just a fun little post script (plus the fact that Keenspace/Spot are mostly dead now). The point is, that's why I will always dislike Willis.
>KSBD Best looking webcomic currently updating/best lore >Poppy O'possum Best characters of a currently updating webcomic/good plot Buttsmithy >Best updating boner fuel comic Oglaf >Best it's actually been falling off recently
>>64604864 I really love Kill Six Billion Demons because every comic has that "here's the two page spread of this diverse city full of weird shit" but then the rest of the comic is a handful of characters dealing with generic shit.
But this comic is literally "here's that aforementioned big scene setting shot but for every single page".
>>64604424 >Yes, there is a subset of feminism called radical feminism that focuses on male supremacy and female oppression. It's not very large though. Most people who hold feminist ideals aren't radical feminists. This is just one of those "vocal minority" things.
>>64614359 The non-radical people you're talking about here are presumably just people who don't like sexism or gender-bias. If they were, they wouldn't identify themselves with a gender-biased term. A movement is nothing but the people who identify with it, by giving it a gender-biased term you attract gender-biased people and dissuade people who dislike gender-bias. If you give a shit about ending sexism and/or gender-bias you won't identify yourself as feminist. To do so is either dishonest or just plain stupid and self defeating.
>>64614942 Well I never heard of it until the How's Your Webcomic threads started popping up and I browse /co/ regularly. And considering that it literally JUST got a website and that website isn't even finished yet, I'm pretty sure that it hasn't been around for THAT long.
>>64607825 What? No, Lucy's an abusive piece of shit to him for the entirety of the comic. Mike might have been a little excessive but she definitely deserved it and anyone in their right mind would have left her to dry.
>>64616734 A comic is not a novel, a comic is not purely written form it is in fact mostly visual form. All actions and environments and a considerable amount of communication is in the visual form and a good comic writer would attempt to put concepts across in the visual form too, rather than shit a novel page into the middle and use the visual as a colorful margin.
>>64614359 Feminism is a mostly meaningless term, because it can mean hundreds of things.
Does it mean equality for the sexes? In that case, why the name? Is it because women are the only ones suffering from sexism? What about the trivilization of violence against men? Or the favorization of mothers over fathers in custody battles? Women may have it harder but it does not justify the name targeting them solely.
Does it mean celebrating femininity? What is femininity? Is it the classical idea or are those constructed to keep women down? Is it the rebellion against classical femininity? What are women then supposed to hold as their own?
Does it mean female supremacy?
Is sexualisation of women a positive or a negative?
You could tell two random feminists theorists to sit down and debate feminism, then put a selection of weapons next to them and start making popcorn, they'd fucking murder each other within five minutes.
>>64615646 >>64617870 imo I think feminist is a label for women who wanna be equal to guys but at the same time also tell guys it's okay to be feminine I used to be a SJW but I'm starting to move away from that label because I started having gray views about shit. I label myself a feminist but not a SJW and I just wanna be a nice , reasonable person, not some mouth breathing /pol/ or a SJW who has to walk on eggshells
>>64618040 >imo I think feminist is a label for women who wanna be equal to guys but at the same time also tell guys it's okay to be feminine
Yeah... unfortunately words have meanings determined by society. You don't get to choose your own definition of words.
Feminism is someone who believes in two specific things. That women should have equal or superior rights compared to men. That society is a patriarchy which is ruled by men and in which women are 2nd class citizens.
Believing in equal rights is cool, I'm an egalitarian so I want equal rights for both genders as well.
The problematic issues come from 'Patriarchy'. This is an un-falsifiable conspiracy theory on par with stormfags who believe that 'da joo's' rule the world.
The dogmatic belief that women are always 2nd class citizens is also the reason why feminazi's are so sexist to men. According to feminist dogma if men earn more money than women from work then this is due to sexism against women BUT feminists also claim that if more men than women are homeless then this is ALSO due to sexism against women.
Every single feminist is a bigot and a member of a sexist hategroup. You wanting to be 'nice' makes you the equivalent of the nice 'KKK' member.
>>64618276 >You wanting to be 'nice' makes you the equivalent of the nice 'KKK' member. chill, I said I didn't wanna identify myself as a SJW but I still am for feminism, but I do admit feminism has big problems (ie. abuse and sexual assault against men being treated as a joke, the old system where women are paid more in divorce than men) I'm for the equality side of feminism, don't compare feminism to the KKK
>>64618040 Then don't label yourself. This is what /pol/ and SJWs fail to grasp. >You can't say, because I'm a gender fluid, binary, neutron deviant! >Oh yeah well you'd just say that because you're a politically correct lesbian liberal! Both sides label the other one in order to invalidate their opinions. At the same time when you associate yourself with a label, you're saying that you also believe, or at least accept, in the same things that everyone else under that label does. This is a problem because even three people aren't going to have the same opinions, much less hundreds of thousands.
So avoid calling yourself a SWJ, that way your opinion isn't invalidated, and you don't have to defend the opinion of other people. Don't shift over to another label, because that will just have the same problems, even if it's a different view point.
Instead voice your opinions, and don't let anyone label you just to discard that.
>>64608730 I mentioned it in the cowboy girl thread, but I let this comic go when it was still only a dozen pages long years ago. Glad I caught up with it now, and it seems the PATREON GIBE MONEY PLS might make it go a bit quicker.
>>64618349 >From what I understand, the Patriarchy is not a conspiracy theory in the lines of "muh jews", but rather a societal mentality.
Patriarchy theory blames all social ill's on an undefinable shadowy enemy that is simultaneously all powerful yet weak enough that it has to hide it's existence. It's very similar to the way that the Nazi's used the 'international Jewish conspiracy' to justify their actions.
It's also un-falsifiable, when men have privilege it's because of sexism and the Patriarchy, when women have privilege it's because of 'benevolent sexism' and the Patriarchy. The solution in both cases is more rights for women and more feminism.
>>64618403 >I'm for the equality side of feminism, don't compare feminism to the KKK
If you supported equality you would consider yourself an egalitarian, instead you chose to identify with a sexist hate group because they support your ideology, that makes you a bigot.
Human thought depends on labels. While it's a nice idea that everyone should be treated as an individual and all stereotypes should be abandoned the human brain literally does not work that way.
Humans are tribal creatures and we share ideologies as tribes. This is why many ideals can be considered 'liberal' or 'conservative' despite having nothing to do with either ideology. People adopt the beliefs of their tribe and attack the beliefs of their tribes enemies.
Ironically the only political system which tries to be above the tribal left right divide is fascism, which considers itself a 'third way'.
>>64618816 Well of course people are going to label you no matter what. Down to your race, hair color, gender, it's all labels. But what I don't want that poster to do is >Hello, I'm a SJW Feminist! Your life shouldn't revolve around your label. It's like people who jack off to picture of animals then try to pass it off as a "culture". These people are defining their whole lives around their label, and ultimately that's not a very healthy way to live.
>>64618816 You are correct but you are wrong to say this. It's like if someone said "you should stop eating so much fast food, no wonder you're so fat." and you said "IIt's calorie count that really matters when it comes to weight." Well yes, that is true, but it's still common to do it in excess and it is obviously the person who jsut ate two mcribs in one meal who needs to stop eating fast food.
The other anon was trying to explain that it is unhealthy to use labels to their extreme, as the thing by which you define yourself, pushing back reason or sense of any kind when it comes to, as you said, "defending your tribe". Yes this is what humans do. That doesn't mean it's not much more sensible to take that awareness of this human trait and not let it consume you and make an idiot of you.
>>64618928 I don't have my life revolve around those labels, it's just when discussions like these pop up I give in my views, that's when my labels come in I don't wanna be called anything, but I have to accept those labels like >>64618816 said
>>64619119 But you don't have to have labels when it comes to your views, because that's just your opinion. In this thread I don't know if you're a boy, girl, old, or young. What I do know, is that you're a self proclaimed former SJW, and current Feminist. And that itself changes my view point of you. But you can still voice your opinions without associating yourself with a larger group. There are labels that you'll never be able to change like >>64618816 says. But when it comes to something like feminism, you don't need to call yourself a feminist to express your views.
>>64619305 I'm for a lot of viewpoints that feminism agrees with, I guess that's why I labeled myself. But why not label myself if I can't escape it anyways also while people can have opinions, that doesn't mean some hurtful viewpoints should be just dismissed or excused as opinions (ie. a racist "opinion" being defended or excused because "it's just their opinion") I just wanted to talk about fucking webcomics. why do we have to get politics involved?
>>64618620 Patriarchy is trait of a social system. 'The patriarchy' is just a personification of this trait. Our social system sees men as more capable than women, and thus affords their opinions more value in most cases. This makes it a patriarchy. The vast majority of the sexism against men (I.E., the parental laws being fcked and so many homeless people, and the trivialization of violence on men) is /also/ a result of patriarchy, since men are seen as strong enough that society doesn't need to defend or even look out for them.
The term 'feminism' merely comes from the movement's roots in championing women's rights, feminist theory has been concerned about the discrimination men face when they try to move outside of the gender role of masculinity for a long time.
Mind, mainstream feminism has some really big problems, most of them due to it being almost entirely coopted by middle class white women. Womanism is a superior movement.
I don't consider myself part of either movement, since I am a cis-het white dude, and adding my voice to either movement would cause more oppressed voices in said movements to have less weight. I do try to act as an 'ally' of womanism and feminism though.
>>64619877 >our social system sees men as more capable than women bitch please. Have you ever seen literally anything on TV, especially sitcoms and such? Every woman is amazingly together and successful, while every man is a loser who's lucky to be with her.
>>64619877 >I don't consider myself part of either movement, since I am a cis-het white dude, and adding my voice to either movement would cause more oppressed voices in said movements to have less weight. I do try to act as an 'ally' of womanism and feminism though.
Lol an 'Ally'... how does it feel to be so beta that even feminists despise you.
And people say that there is no tumblr problem on /co/. I laugh at those people. Here is a picture of an Alfa Romeo. It is a very pretty car, and I can guarantee that ladies would be lining up and lathering their breasts with soap to wash it if you owned one. It is called the Disco Volante and it is a custom coachworks design built on top of the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione architecture, and comes with the same 4.7-liter 450-hp V8 It has Disco in the name. You want one
>>64620561 Don't make fun of him too much. He was probably raised by a single mother which is why he's such a fuckup now What he desperately needs is an emergency infusion of some testosterone, and for someone to surgically lower his balls, and I can think of no better prescription than the all new McLaren P1 hypercar. The P1 features a 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine that is only similar to the MP4-12C motor in its displacement. The twin turbos boost the petrol motor at 2.4 bar to deliver 727 bhp (542 kW) and 719 Nm (531 lb ft) at 7500 rpm, combined with an in-house developed electric motor producing 176 bhp (131 kW) and 260 Nm (192 lb ft). With both motors, the P1 will have a total power and torque output of 903 bhp (916 PS) and 978 Nm (722 lb ft) respectively. The electric motor can be deployed manually by the driver or left in automatic mode, whereby the car's ECUs 'torque fill' the gaps in the petrol motor's output, which is considered turbo lag. This gives the powertrain an effective powerband of almost 7000rpm.The car is rear-wheel drive with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Nah. You gotta make the translation sound more natural, even at the cost of "accuracy." Localization, bro. it's a thing.
>Hands up, scum! >Look at those rags! >Probably does drugs too! >We know there's a thief hiding here. >Absolutely. We got called over. >What's the meaning of this? We're decent people ... >Shut your mouth! The police have come to serve your community! >Let's see what you have here ... >What's this! >uh, a sword? >I know what a sword is, dammit! >and where did you nab this from? >Don't remember. It's been awhile ...
Well. That was a fun exercise in high school Spanish. I'm gonna look this guy up.
>>64620279 I don't want one. I never get the appeal of cars. I jsut approach the mpractically. I could afford to get a new one and still buy a used one just because I only see them as a tool, one that will get scratched and weathered as I use it so I don't care any more for one that has none. I prefer a pair of shoes after breaking them in to them new, cars doubly so. I just can't seem to care about cars or get the appeal of them.
>>64621659 >sound like the type of person who does You sound like the type of idiot kid who obsseses over cars to feal like less faggot.
You have a hobby that you like a lot, that doesn't make your dick bigger. You don't even work on cars, you just like you some shiny machines. and now you're projecting because someone says they don't share that hobby and you've got this absurdly childish idea of cars being tied to masculinity. Well maybe they are because you don't have much of either.
>>64619877 >men as more capable than women well that's true in some aspects, men are strengthened through their social practice of hunting, which increased their bone density while the mothers became more frail in comparison because they were taking care of the babies >and thus affords their opinions more value Except no, there are stupid people who you don't listen to, and you don't not listen to them because of this or that, but because they're stupid and don't know what they're talking about. Males might just research the shit they want to know about more, making them commonly more learned, but women are given that same chance in the modern age and still only gossip and stagnate. Not to say all men do this or all women do that, because there are some select someones that actually read up on shit and that have a worthy opinion and then there are some men even who know shit for dick. >Men are the ones causing homelessness and violence Okay, you might be stupid, but people might not have homes because >no houses open in the area >lost a job, can't afford a house >not smart, can't learn, can't afford to get a job, can't get a house >feminism you're spot on, women were oppressed and not given the same opertunities because they were supposed to fulfill a gender role that wasn't messed with until someone said, "Hey, women can do some of these things men can, let us help!" Back then, there was a lady who stood up for female rights because of the over sexualization of women in this one shit head's books, and people thought that was okay. I don't like shit like thinking that women are just objects because they are able bodied and human. >Cis-het fuck you, you call yourself a straight white male, don't fucking use their nonsense words
>>64620839 >cis means same side nigger, that doesn't change anything, it's still stupid to use that to explain someone who identifies with a gender that is the same as they were born. I don't mean to throw normal around and tell trans people that they are not normal, but they aren't, they're destroying their bodies to fit into whatever is in their head, and I won't change how I define myself because they want to tag us with something. Call me heterosexual, call me male, call me white, just keep your dead language out of it, and I'll just call you by a term that has been around to mean a "TRANSformation of your GENDER"
Eh. Reasonable enough grasp of the gab. I met the maker at a signing at a comicbook shop and book one of the collections out of embarrassment.
I've never seen Bob The Angry Flower mentioned on here. It's been dear to me for years, even if it isn't that great nowadays it's got a shit-huge back archive. And there's little continuity to the thing, as the vast majority of comics are one-shots.
Admittedly if you dislike random humour then you'll probably hate it intensely.
>>64617870 The core of feminism seems to be that a lot of bad shit seems to happen mostly (thought not entirely) to women, and people don't really care enough about it. Stuff like draconian abortion laws, colleges covering up rape accusations and just barely punishing offenders even if they're declared guilty, maternity leave being both rare and inadequately short in this country, even in cases where it's medically recommended the woman rest longer, etc....
You're right, there are a lot of different views that are considered "feminist", but I think most of them agree on a few core principles. I think the name's partially just an artifact now, from when women really did have it 110% worse.
>>64619877 Patriarchy is a nebulous concept with minimal predictive power used to vilify men whenever it's convenient. It's value is mainly the emotional appeal in labeling something oppressive and sexist, without having to identify the specific source of bias/discrimination (if one exists).
Feminist theory has basically jack shit to do with feminism as a political movement. I don't know what feminist academics write about, because the only feminism I encounter is what's screamed out by people picketing Warren Farrel or what's stamped in a lobbyist's brochure while they campaign against joint custody as default in divorce. I have never heard of a feminist organization lobbying for benefits towards men in areas where they are visibly disadvantaged, despite apparently all the feminist academics who write about it.
There are a number of ways in which women are discriminated against in society, but I trust feminism to accurately identify those about as much as I trust cigarette companies to accurately identify the health risks of smoking. Feminism's political agenda makes it fucking terrible as a source of information.
>>64625640 >I don't know what feminist academics write about, because the only feminism I encounter is what's screamed out by people picketing Warren Farrel or what's stamped in a lobbyist's brochure while they campaign against joint custody as default in divorce. You don't usually argue against something by admitting your ignorance of the subject, just FYI.
>>64625816 I don't care about academic feminism, because academic feminism is irrelevant. You know what is relevant? When attempts to improve society are blocked by feminist lobbyists who move to protect their constituency regardless of what the academics write.
When the feminist academics actually get off their asses and push an explicitly pro-male agenda through the courts, I'll believe that feminism gives a rat's ass about men.The academics talk nice while the actual foot-soldiers shit all over men; I see no reason to pretend that academic feminism is the one true feminism when the kind that's bigoted and sexist is the one actually fucking with the laws.
Sometimes we need to lose what we love in order to grow stronger, anon. Captain O had plans for something after Double K finished. Something original, I know he's MIA now, but maybe he'll be back someday. Someday.
kinda feel bad for the creator. either he got hit by a car or in a car wreck and then recovered but doesn't wanna finish the webcomic? idk but it was great. gifs on the weekends, color, hijinks, angels/deamons, frustrating romance
>>64630032 >well damn, that is a nice format. It is so cool as it goes on, the most recent update is probably the coolest webcomic thing I've ever seen. Also House of Orr is cool too. People should check that out too.
