They're just keeping their cards on the table in case they want in next round, it would be a shame to pull out and then realize later they have a really good idea within the WIR universe that might not revolve around the original cast or mess with its success but could still use some of the concepts like game jumping, rules and character roles. Then they'd have to go make a new thing just for that whereas they could just spin-off or prequel or whatever. I mean we're talking about a franchise that has already introduced the idea multiple franchises exist in it, why would you possibly wrap that up? There's infinite potential there. Like Ralph's depression and anger contrast to his introduction, you're supposed to get an idea of why she behaves as she does after you learn about the details.

Whether or not you like her is up to you, but it's pretty mentally stunted not to grasp a person's behavior after getting sufficient exposition. It's like how Felix didn't understand or care about Ralph's situation until he experienced it and had it explained to him, but that doesn't make Felix a bad person all he knows is what he's exposed to. The same applies to Calhoun seeming to have a very low opinion of everyone around her due to the game putting her in the position of someone who has to constantly be looking out for everyone else. Later she discovers a lot of people are trying to take responsibility in their own way like Felix trying to find Ralph or Ralph trying to help Vanellope and Vanellope trying to help Ralph. Even if they don't seem competent they're willing and eager (such as Felix taking a beating to get them out of Nesquiksand)

On and on it goes. It was a movie about understanding yourself and others brah.
