So, I was reading Geoff Johns' and Peter David's Aquaman, as well as a few other books I found online, and something really, really bothers me. What the fuck is up with Aquaman's power fluctuation?
Take Black Manta, for example. Beyond their very well-done and organic emotional rivalry and mutual hatred, how is this guy even a fraction of a threat to Aquaman? It seems like every continuity of Aquaman except maybe Golden Age has tried to paint Arthur, at least when he's not fighting BM, as way above his someone like Manta's weight class. Post-Flashpoint the dude tackled and wailed on Despero, restrained Cheetah, and held up a city block by himself. In the New 52 he's speed blitzed Wonder Woman, tanked a continent-busting hit, and pulled together tectonic plates. How is some dude in a glorified wetsuit with laser eyes a realistic threat to him?
Then I realized it's a matter of Aquaman, rather than Black Manta. It seems like the writers can never decide what kind of power level the guy should have. One comic, he can tank a punch from Wonder Woman with little more than a bloody lip, in another he's being bitten through his bulletproof armor by Killer fucking Croc and screaming in pain. Like, I get there's jobbing and power fluctuation in most comic characters, especially the more powerful ones. But it just seems like Aquaman's actual capabilities vary from writer to writer, and even issue to issue.
What do you think, /co/? What's your preferred power level for ol' Aquabro?

Every single hero has inconsistent power levels.
Realistically Superman could fucking murder everyone and this is stated on multiple occasions by everybody. Character's fail in universe for any number of reasons.
In the case of BM it's guilt. Aquaman straight up MURDERED the man's father.

Black Manta is Deathstroke-tier, which means that he isn't good enough to have a clear victory against Aquaman but is enough of a threat to be taken seriously.
It helps that Arthur never fights him with killing intention.
Similar to Wonder Woman, Aquaman can take blunt damage like a champ, but is vulnerable to sharp objects.

So I'm like 488 panels into this web comic, and I have to say. Shit is dank yo.
The world is whimsical and expressive. I like the colors, and I have found nothing wrong with being a follower of Titan yet.

Yeah it's good. The ending isn't completely satisfying as an ending with an ensemble should be and the main character is kind of a bad person. It's not great though.

They're really not good friends. Bruce is, at best, a tool to them. You can't argue that he's not effective.

One of the things I'm most interested in regarding Infinity War is how they do the black order.
I'm 100% convinced they were created in Hickmans Infinity run because Marvel wanted some cool henchmen for Thanos, as in the past hes been such a solo guy when hes a villian. Although that worked with Zemo, it wouldn't work so well in a movie where the stakes of the world are on the line.
Have we seen any still of how they look yet? We didn't have them for very long but I did like the ebony maw part with strange and corvus + proxima chemistry.
Who do you think the Ebony maw will leech on?
Will any of them survive?
I'm guessing Black Dwarf will die first.

Like they really burned through 75+ years of comic history and they have to do this now? I mean, this is partly because they keep throwing shit away, like Ronan was a garbage villain in GotG and then they killed him off. They had the 9 realms and they wasted them on Thor 2, they're keeping Don Cheadle on payroll but have literally done fucking nothing with War Machine.
