There's this whole thing where Lex recognizes that all the evidence points right at Clark Kent being Superman, but he refuses to accept it because he refuses to accept that such a powerful being would willingly disguise themselves as such a weak speck of a human being.

Similiar logic could extend to other heroes, he's probably deduced most of their identities - but in a lot of cases he refuses to accept the results because he refuses to accept the idea that beings that powerful can be that altruistic.

Look at their line right now. Look at what they have set up for the future. In the last few years they've gone through periods where the entire imprint online published 2-3 titles for a month. They never plan ahead and just hope that some ongoing catches on.

Vertigo is under Warner, which means all the creative rights of a book remain under their umbrella. If authors can do it, they make their indie book at Image, so they maintain full creative control.

Especially the Big two, most comics industry originated in NYC since back in the 30's. It was the city where many publications started. Both Marvel and DC's headquarters started in NYC (DC now moved to California). I sometimes laugh how the biggest and most hype comic-con is station in San Diego rather than NYC. California really is the most spoiled state.

When DC comics made Superman and Batman live in Metropolis and Gotham, respectively, the readers all assumed that both were sort of parodies of NYC.
When Marvel comics came along their corporate HQ building was located in New York City, and they had limited hopes that the company's distribution would grow beyond the city, so they made all their superheroes local.
Spider-Man lived in the Bronx, Captain America came from Brooklyn , Dare Devil lived in Hell's Kitchen, the Fantastic Four's Baxter Building had a NYC street address that fans could see on a street map.
Marvel artists actually roamed the city to make the artwork of street scenes 100% accurate.
Kids could got play in the part of Central Park where The Punisher's family was killed.

As well as a hack showrunner who overworks himself then wants to quit after a year and a half of working so he rushes the ending half of the show and turns his once hit show into pure disappointing dropped-the-ball shit.

Normally it takes seven seasons for a show to go from golden to crap, took Hirsch only 25 episodes.
