So some anons were curious about what goes on at local comicbook shops and what sells and what doesn't so I wanted to start a thread where we can share stories and to discuss books that sell well and the ones that don't. (and to vent about people not picking up their pulls because come on people.)
The current Button storyline sells well at my shop which is pretty surprising because we've been pushing Secret Empire pretty hard on customers. We actually have to order more issues of Batman #21 because we sold out our stock. Super Sons is another book that sells well at the store with issue one selling out before 3 o'clock the Wednesday it came out.

My local shop sucks
Every time I go in, the dudes have no interest in talking, despite me being a regular. I get my pulls, each and every time they ring me out silently and stare at my titles like they're judging me. It got old after a while, I feel like I'm not even welcome there despite my weekly business. And when people they want to talk to come in, they talk and talk and forget people are waiting to pay for their shit.
Idk man, might switch back to mail subscriptions. Technically I save money but usuallu the comics come in bent or crushed and shit, been burned too many times for that. Or maybe I just wait for trades to come out, but I really don't want to wait that long.

We have free swag for anyone who gets it but honestly Civil War II did better despite the reception it has. Also some of the customers aren't exactly.....thrilled about what's happening to Cap. On FCBD I spoke to someone who was actually pretty upset about it as she wanted to get back into comics after not reading them for a decade but the whole thing is leaving a bad taste in her mouth.
What about you guys? What's the reception like for Secret Empire at your local store?

It had good waifus.
The reason you hate the new season of Samurai Jack is because it has what you'll never experience. True love. You were happy when everything was just violence and anger and rage and bitterness towards the world because that's how you feel. You inserted into Jack, you lived vicariously through him and acted as if his rage and frustration justified the rage and frustration in your own life. You are victim of a world, but at least you can lash out.
Then suddenly episode 4 comes and Aishi and Jack start interacting and you become uncomfortable. Jack isn't a soulless remorseless badass who is striking out against the world. He's telling jokes, he's smiling and he's going out of the way to try and help someone you would have just killed because you're the victim of this messed up world and anyone who stands against you needs to be cut down. It doesn't even stop there because he's spending more time with Aishi, he's opening up to her and in his moment of weakness she's the one who helps him overcome and slowly rebuild himself.
And you cringe and revolt, because the message you're being told isn't to lash out against the world, but to reach out and try and change it. That what you do isn't pointless and that you aren't all powerful and perfect. That even you are flawed but through others you can find happiness and that the bleakness in your life is simply the product of you folding in on yourself.
Because you look at yourself and you can't self insert into Jack anymore, because you haven't helped anyone, thus no one can help you. There is no one to save you in your darkest hour because you've offered yourself to know one. There is no light at the end for you. No happiness, no redemption, no validation.
You hate Aishi and you hate her relationship with Jack because at your core it denies everything you want to believe about the world.

I'm trying so hard to like this guys, but I just can't bring myself to. I know that the age thing shouldn't matter as Jack is still in his 20s, but the fact that he's mentally over 70 still bothers me in the back of mind. I mean when she was born, he was still wandering around as usual.

Will hate-watch the film, shit out their YouTube review and collect whatever little ad revenue they can get nowadays.

Will watch it and have fun.
