Iunno. I liked it, thought it was a pretty cool and unexpected twist. But if I had to hazard a guess, it was probably gut instinct disliked because it was a concept that was radically different from any previous model of the show. I don't think there has been a version of TMNT outside of 2k3 where Shredder has had this backstory.

Pretty much. Editorial hates status quo changes, even the parker wedding was supposedly regretted by the writers as soon as it was printed. I have no fucking idea how superman and lois lane was able to survive though because peter and mj were as strong as a couple
