Elements starts completely off screen as doesn't take much time explaining how it got that far, it just happens off screen, sky hooks is a great example of this, nothing happens in that episode besides explanation until they have to escape from PB which was very close to the end, or to show why PB was so much more powerful than the others. Because it doesn't take the time to build up the current situation you'd at least expect there to he some build up toward the resolution, but instead the problem is resolved by a lumpy ex machina. Besides the fact that LSP having screentime is inherently awful, it means that almost none of it actually mattered. Even the Betty situation practically solved itself.

Even if you liked these miniseries I can't see the justification for them being better than any other plotline in the series. It suffers from the same problems, they just seem to be excused here.

Wally is/was originally envisioned as OG Wally but they fucked up his character so bad the only way to to fix it was to bring back OG Wally. Martian Manhunter wasn't overly popular and Cyborg still has his own serial so they're doing something right, Powergirl is still a character she was never replaced you're just a stupid. Hirsch. Ward's vision for the show got warped so fucking badly he had to jump ship because he couldn't handle working on what was essentially a bastardized nightmare of what he originally wanted, and the show ended up getting more and more fucked after he left. Hirsch, on the other hand, was fully in control the entire time, and still made dumbass decisions and whined about them the entire time because he didn't realize making a cartoon series might actually be, you know, WORK.

Ward is the well-intentioned but ultimately flawed extremist, while Hirsch is the lazy jackass who thinks he's above everyone around him.

She's never a straight-up bitch. Most of the time she hurts people just because she's inconsiderate and speaks her opinions regardless of whether they might hurt someone. Her being a dick to Betty is actually explained by her understanding that people like Betty over her as a person and trying to compensate for the feelings of inferiority this gives her by "winning" over her. But there are a lot of stories where you see that she loves Betty as a friend and would go to great lengths for her.

She's not the clear second choice. In terms of interests and personality she isn't worse, just different.

This really just comes down to whether you like energetic, down-to-earth, altruistic tomboys or refined, goal-driven, headstrong ladies.

Damn. Even without the Ashi reappearing bit at the end, it was still better than the actual ending. Had more emotional weight to it. Still not the ending the season seemed to be building towards, but definitely not something I would have walked away from disappointed.
