>Watch south park on my own merits for the first time
>season 1 isn't funny or particularly "lol so controversial"
>push through
>jokes basically consists of kids don't know what sex is except they do an episode later.
>townspeople are all dumb and asshoIes
>push through up to season 4.
Has South Park always been so degenerate?
Does it get better?
Fun Times With Weapons.
The Losing Edge.
Basically the two highlights.
>>93275169
Season 1 South Park was quite controversial actually. Beavis and Butthead may have had Beavis screaming "Fire!" but South Park had Kyle cussing out vistors. It was a huge topic of discussion about the appropriateness of cartoons being vulgar.

>why isn't this show people said was good as good as people say?

You followed a crowd
So should Scott hit that?
>>93275140
Not written by Waid, he shouldn't.
Did Carol hit that?
with a baseball bat
What would Dale think of Alex Jones?
The funniest way to write it would be Dale thinking that any prominent conspiracy theorist is an idiot, explains why, and then changes the subject back to his own ridiculous beliefs
>>93275164
this
he might have bought into him in the beginning but as soon as he became le water merchant Dale wouldve jumped ship
>>93275123
Probably thinks he's part of the conspiracy.
Guess who's back and is ready for more dates?
Go ahead /co/

Was it ever made clear what "the Nutshack" actually was within the context of the show?
As explained during the return to eternity arc when jack dies by the hand of some jet set radio thugs, the nutshack is the temporal mindfield keeping their reality trapped in the matrix.
It's the Nutshack
>>93275235
>People still don't get this
The Nutshack is the proto-matrix, not the real one.
Can we have a thread to discuss movies that have slipped under the radar through the years?I feel like there are many artistic features that simply get ignored by the mainstream media and unfairly fade into obscurity, can we have a moment to talk about these so their existence can be spread and more people can appreciate them?
I personally really liked Long Way North
>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pW7JDw2Qimo
thanks for sharing this, had no idea about it. seems like a good movie. i dont really have anything to add maybe War of the Worlds: Goliath was not great but i think it was still a watchable
>>93275016
Really cool movie, Sacha a cute.
Also, Secret of Kells is one of the best animation movies I've ever seen and I rarely see anyone talking about it.
>>93275330
that the same studio as long way north?
What is this show even about, and is it worth watching?
>>93274251
>What is this show even about?
Comedy. Pure visual gags, creative episodes and a really original cast of characters. It's also really well written and there are almost no unlikable characters (some people don't like how Richard is handled).
>is it worth watching?
Yes, in my opinion.i might get blasted to the ass here, but start with season 2
>>93274622
Yeah I would consider this a old fashioned cartoon in the sense like looney toons and most golden age cartoons in general it focuses primarily in comedy and animation
>What is it about
A kid and his brother/pet surrounded by the greatest cast of side and background characters we've seen in years, set in the town of Elmore
>Is it worth watching?
The show has incredibly few bad episodes. If you're looking for something funny and simple this show is really something you can pick up at any episode and enjoy.

RATS MAKE EVERYTHING BETTER!
THEY'RE JUST MISUNDERSTOOD!
The Battle for Subterranea-Tania has been uploaded
>>93274229
Kinda of weird that they brought in random alien robots to be the ultimate villains instead of just going with Count Wretcher
This show would've had a better chance on Cartoon Network (Proto-Billy Dilley was a Cartoon Network pilot)

Disney really hated this show. Future-worm gets new episodes tomorrow, another show Disney hates.

To the Anon who came up with this idea: This is going to end in disaster. Out of all these writers, you're gonna have a few people like Ken Penders or Steve Gerber in your ranks. But good luck anyway...
If Marvel/Disney ever gets the movierights for X-Men back or came to an agreement with Fox (even if that's very very unlikely), how could Mutants be integrated into the MCU? What would be the plot?
Just how?
They wouldn't be. Just like the comics.
>>93273550
>cut to news report
>"This just in, mutants exist now!"
>>93273550
Start with a light hearted teen drama TV show, first big event is a movie, shit hits the fan, x-men can't handle it, Avengers show up, X-men think they're going to be back up but no it's a triple threat, x-men run off, Tony Stark gives a press conference about the whole thing and introduces a partnership with Trask. TV show keeps going but now it's darker and there's lots of anti-mutant propaganda going on. Mutants start defecting and the brotherhood pops up. Second movie involves Magneto kicking the shit out of the sentinels and the x-men not sure if they should help him, because sentinels are awful, or stop him, because muh mutant acceptance. Either way Wolverine joins the Avengers.
I want to casually get into comics, I've already read Watchmen years ago and I think I'm gonna read The Dark Knight Returns next. What are the best graphic novels/comics for a newfag?
>pic unrelated
>>93273211
That's pretty much it, you can stop there.
>>93273311
>>93273211
GETs galore, and alright, if you say so
>>93273211
Honestly, I don't like TDK a lot, it suffers a lot of Miller's problems, if you want to read some Miller red his Daredevil run, it's the GOAT.
I don't know what you mean by "casual", for me I just read a lot of comics and separate them in what's great, alright or bad, by casual you mean you want to read only alright stuff and never have a taste of greatness so you don't get absorbed?
Or do you just want reccomendations on one shot, separate and independent stories?
Can someone explain Reverse-Flash to me? So this dude is just as powerful as the Flash, oftentimes more powerful, but he's evil and pragmatic and lacks anything holding him back. So why isn't he considered a bigger threat? He can travel through time, punch harder than a supernova, move millions of times faster than the speed of light, and he's a super-genius on top of it all. Shouldn't he basically be the ultimate villain of the DCU?
>>93272935
how many people do you think he could kill in one go before anyone even realized what was going on
>>93272935
>So why isn't he considered a bigger threat?
Because hes a petty asshole that only gives a fuck about fucking with the Flash and often times the stuff he does is done in such a way that no one even knows what he did
He should, but he doesn't care.
He is a force of nature. If he wants to go to a specific place in a specific moment there's nothing you can do to stop him. I mean, sure, you can stop him, retrain him or even kill him, but in the end , that doesn't change a thing; he'll be up and running in no time, and will travel in time and space to where he wants to go.
If he wanted, he could kill anyone a million times, and then adopt the child version of whoever he just killed (orphaned because of him, of course), and there'd be nothing that could stop him.
He is one of the most frightening things in comics, when you stop to think about it, really.
>The cartoon you want to create will get picked up for only a 12 episode season
>There will be no sequels or followups, no profit and if it gets rebooted it's gonna suck
Deal?
>>93272719
How long is each episode?
>>93272719
Fuck no.
>>93272742
22 minute episodes
Are there currently any comics about European super hero teams ?
>>93272542
Super in the same way as Batman is, then ther eare
- Valerian
- Orbital
- Yoko Tsuno
I can't think of any, unfortunately.
Goddamn I'm hyped for this issue.
>>93274224
>Yoko Tsuno
That doesn't sound European to me.
What makes a good /co/ canon romance? What are some things that make a lot of people hate certain canon or non-canon relationships in /co/ franchises?
>>93272462
Expectation and poor writing.
You can literally smell every relationship coming and it always feels played out and forced.
Good romance has to built up and progress naturally, but most /co/ material focuses on so many other aspects that taking the proper time to address it is a terrible idea. But that'll never stop writers from shoehorning it in anyways.
>>93272514
How does it feel being a bigot homophobe?
>>93272462
I usually ship canon ships because they're easy. The show itself usually has the best means to portray one. When it's canon, you don't have to drudge through endless amount of shit tier fan art to get it, you already established the connection in the real work.
Non-canon pairings, like crack pairings? People shipping characters because one famous artist came up with a ridiculous concept and everyone went with it because it someway feeds into the lowest common denominator? That's lazy, stereotyping at its finest.
