With anime, there is far too many to watch.
But for western cartoons, there are far too few and far between.
Why can't the west collectively churn out new series seasonally like the Japanese?
Last thread died.

How do you feel religion works on civilians in the Marvel and DC universe?
How do they maintain the bible, qu'oran, talmud or any other sacred gospel that claims to have the word of the one true god, when it's quantifiable reality that several gods of several religions actually exist?
Thor and Odin exist, egyptian gods exist, Ares exist, but does Yaweh or Allah exist?
The average person doesn't see 99.999% of the cosmic shit that goes down.
To them, if someone shows up saying they're Thor, it's just an alien or metahuman who thinks they're Thor.
It isn't any different from real life where you already have several competing, diametrically opposed religions yet people choose to believe only one.
There's an issue of Perez's Wonder Woman that deals with this, with Hermes deciding that people don't believe in the Greek gods anymore so he needs to go out and meet with them. Some people start following him and some just say he's a kook who thinks he's a god. Also I think Fraction's Thor dealt with it while Asgard was temporarily in like Kansas or Kentucky or something.

>when it's quantifiable reality that several gods of several religions actually exist?
> hey dudes, several gods exists but ours is the real deal
Come on, anon, christianity even explicitely forbids worship of other gods.

I feel like in all these years of stories there must be one occurrence where something like the Beyonder, the Watcher, the Living Tribunal or something have interacted with all the people in the planet, or at least a large group to be reported globally.
What if Nickelodeon or Nicktoons or whatever was a big massive superhero universe, like DC and Marvel? From just these four alone (SpongeBob, Jimmy Neutron, Fairly OddParents, and Danny Phantom), there's bound to be a pretty solid foundation for that sort of thing. Danny IS a Superhero, and Timmy, Jimmy, and their friends have all became superheroes for at least one episode, and Timmy regularly goes into comic books to be the Crimson Chin's sidekick, so what if that was all the standard actual core of their lives? What if the Crimson Chin, Ultra Lord, and those other guys were actual heroes in their world? What if Jimmy Neutron really was like Bruce Banner and the Hulk? How could it all fit together?
This is just an idea I've had for quite a while, and I thought why not share it here?
...so...nothing?
>>93580983
Or they could not be super heroes and stick to how they normally are. There's nothing about a shared universe that has to make them super heroes
>>93581282
I'm just asking, what if they were superheroes? That's supposed to be the intent of this thread.
This is going to sound like a dumb question but pleas read through what I have to say before you dismiss it:
Do you consider Wonder Woman to be a greek myth?
We're all well aware that Diana's real-world origin is neither ancient nor greek, but as live culture myths can continue grow long after their creators are dead. The question is whether her story falls is any less a part of greek myth than Dante is to christianity
Whether wonder woman is a modern myth should not be up for debate - she is the most famous superheroine of all time for fuck's sake - but is she a an ascended character or is she just another superhero
This question also applies to the marvel versions of Thor and Loki: can their stories be considered latter-day norse myths, or are they just public domain characters

I friend of mine who isn't in comics told me to recommend him some nice cape-shit.
The fucking guy actually got some fantastic taste in pretty much all of the media he consumes, so I was thinking of recommending him Astro City.
But the thing is, my friend knows almost nothing about the hero stereotypes, topics and analogues this series plays with (and masters imo). Actually, he hasn't followed the current popularity of capes in tv-movies that much even. He has read non cape-comics before though.
So I'm worried he'll be able to fully appreciate Astro City without the knowledge of those stereotypes and topics.
What do you think /co/? Is Astro City a good recommendation for someone who is new to cape-comics or am I fucking up?
>>93580151
>What do you think /co/? Is Astro City a good recommendation for someone who is new to cape-comics or am I fucking up?
I don't really the issue, having read more capeshit may to appreciate it more, but even if you knew nothing about capes is still a perfectly enjoyable comic.
shameful bump
>>93580480
This, really.
Like, look at the story about Samaritan and Infidel. Even if you're new to capeshit you can understand Infidel's backstory and motives. From there it's just a matter of getting to the "Wow, they're like friends...but they're not!" bit, which is a twist that both jaded fanboys and wide-eyed casuals can appreciate
And at the very least, superheroes have always been so popular that even the plebbiest pleb has a concept of the conventions of the genre, they just may not think about it too much

While speaking with Screen Geek recently to promote Baby Driver, Wright talked about why he parted ways with Marvel and explained that he essentially became a director for hire.
>“The most diplomatic answer is I wanted to make a Marvel movie but I don’t think they really wanted to make an Edgar Wright movie. Suddenly becoming a director for hire on it, you’re sort of less emotionally invested and you start to wonder why you’re there really.”
The outlet then asked him if he’d ever consider making a film for DC, and though he didn’t say yes, he also didn’t rule it out.
>“I don’t know. I’m really not too familiar with their heroes, so I couldn’t say which one I would do.”
That's what it said. I personally don't think this means anything, but it is worth sharing nonetheless. What do you guys think?
