What the fuck has Disney done to spider-man? Who thought that the animation was passable, especially from Disney.

Final Crisis Best Crisis
Even now I'm still amazed they managed to pull off true Cosmic Horror in a capeshit joint.
Positively Lovecraftian.
>>93656661
Adorable.
>Even now I'm still amazed they managed to pull off true Cosmic Horror in a capeshit joint.
This doesn't make any sense. Lovecraft's work was basically scifi schlock just like comics. Short fiction was the capeshit of literature back then.
I'm not saying Lovecraft wasn't fantastic and groundbreaking but it's not like it's some kind of high-art that comics could barely hope to touch.
I hate it when people try to apply Lovecraft to any piece of fiction with remotely esoteric elements.
Lovecraftian horror entirely revolves around the concept of a cold, uncaring universe and being who are not only unknowable to us, but are either completely unaware of our existence or see us as completely irrelevant in every way.
The antagonists of Final Crisis are not only utterly personal and actively malicious towards us, they are also shaped by our stories and archetypes, and are ultimately destroyed by them.
Final Crisis is as anti-Lovecraft as it gets. Lovecraft imagined a universe where man does not matter. Morrison imagined a universe where nothing matters more.
Sup, /co/
Lurker here but haven't really read any comic books and would like to start, though it seems like you just shit on everything without discussing something you can agree on is "good", so I'm wondering, what run(s) do you consider good and would recommend someone who never read a comic?
>>93656355
In asking this question, if you want serious responses, it helps to say a few things:
What do you want to read - do you consider comic books all about super-heroes, for example, or are you interested in any thing.
If you're interested in anything, what kinds of things. Do you like art and would you want recommendations for books with really great art even if the story was only so-so, or do you want a good story more than anything else.
Etc. etc. You get the picture.
Asking the way you did it is like saying, 'Wassup. I've never had any food before but I'd really like to start eating.'
And then continuing with: 'So what are good foods you would recommend to someone who's only been starving so far?'
There are some free comics on CMX that you can download to your iPhone or Android phone, check some of them out. If you live in a country with free public libraries, check them out for a YA/Graphic Novels section and check some out.
Or do you know what you might want to be recommended as far as genre, types, etc. etc.
From Marvel, I would suggest Chris Claremont's run on X-Men.
Start with Giant Size X-Men issue 1, a one-off that introduces a new team of characters
following that, read X-Men issue 94 onwards and see if you like it.

>it's another "supporting character gets superpowers just because" episode
Does anyone else hate these? They feel so lazy and hackneyed. Like when they made Flash Thompson into Venom, that was the best one and that was just because of Remender's writing. Everything else has been terrible. Lois and lana as Superwomen, Cho becoming Hulk, Jane Foster becoming Thor.
I honestly want them to stop trying to use this plot.
>>93656131
Lois was only Superwoman for ONE issue before dying.
All after they hyped up Lois Lane as a Superhero and how cool it was going to be.
God, the Superwoman book is such a disappointment...
>>93656131
Not at all. It's a way to introduce new heroes and use characters with a developed story, not some new face we're told is a big deal.
>>93656230
Which Lois?
I am thinking of going to Disney World as a Disney Character.
For those wondering, yes, I am over the age of 10, so doing this is TECHNICALLY prohibited.(I am 29 for anyone who thinks I might be underaged)
However, I have a plan. I am thinking of Dressing up in a subtle costume. Something that you can't tell is a Disney character without the person saying so.
Other things of note, I want it to be someone from a GOOD disney movie, and a popular one. There are plenty of dudes in Atlantis, but that would be too easy.
>it's prohibited to go to Disney World in costume so that Disney can have total control of its brand
kek. Fucking fascist thought police. Why do people think fondly of this plastic corporate ad world again?
>>93655884
go as shame
>>93655949
OP here.
It's prohibited because they do not want guests to assume you are part of their staff, which is why you are allowed to do it if you're still a child.

So how long would it take you to write an 800 word minimum essay on what not to do at a stop light?
An hour, at the absolute most.

If it doesn't have to be good and could be a laundry list of retarded shit like 'don't eat the stoplight' it would be merely a question of typing speed, so like 15 min tops

Hey guys I found Genie. The real one, voiced by Robin Williams and everything.
My first wish was to be a billionaire and my second wish was to be President. What should my third be?
Let everyone on /co/ be with their waifus.

Genie said he can't make people fall in love, so if you were with their waifus they wouldn't necessarily love you, they'd just act towards you how you'd expect them to act in-character

Douchebag Kind-Of-Hero-Kind-Of-Asshole Lex Luthor is the best Luthor. He's trying. Sorta.
>>93655051
I haven't been following the Superman books super-closely in the past few months. Can someone explain how they chose to handle these two things:
I know that Superwoman and New Super-Man got their powers when the original New 52 Superman died, and Lex took up his name and mantle to honour him.
I heard that continuity has been rejiggered so that pre-Flashpoint Superman's continuity was merged with that character, so everyone remembers him always having been there as a part of that world.
So what then becomes of these three characters' stories which hinge upon his death? Do they remember him dying and coming back? Or were they given some new set of motivations?
