PUNISHER STORYTIME
All this year I'll be storytiming Punisher comics, with most of the focus being on material from the pre-Ennis era, but with a few Ennis era stories at some point and maybe some post-Ennis era stuff eventually. Expect at least 1 storytime per week.
The early years of The Punisher's solo ongoings are more or less separated into two eras: The Mike Baron era, and the Chuck Dixon era, the former of which covers most of the material through 1991, and the latter of which cover the majority of what was published from 1992-1995 (approximately). We've already gotten through the Mike Baron run on The Punisher (aside from 3 or 4 minis and one-shots that he did later after his "main" run). The Chuck Dixon run though was mostly relegated to the spin-off books (War Journal and War Zone) and it was actually Abnett & Lanning that followed Baron on the main book (which we'll be reading next week).
But Dixon's first work on the character, a "graphic novel" called "Kingdom Gone" (which we read last week), happened well before any of that. And in between that and becoming the "head writer" on any of The Punisher titles, Dixon had been Mike Baron's fill-in writer on The Punisher.
We've already read two of his fill-in issues (#45 and #49), but there was also a third (probably less famous) fill-in issue that fell exactly between the end of Mike Baron's run and the start of the Abnett & Lanning run.
Today we'll be reading this lone fill-in issue. And yes, just the one issue this week. I've been busy this week, so I really haven't had time for anything more.
Anyway, it's a pretty cool issue, so let's just get right into it.

How long would Spider Man last against SSJ3?
>>93758978
How long does a daddy long legs last against my boot?
>>93758978
goddamn the SSJ3 was so disgusting.
what a shitty design, he looks like those goddamn 60 years old rednecks who listen dadrock music and smoke, watching football with friends on the local bars.
>>93759095
Well... DBZ was supposed to end after Cell Games. SSJ3 never should have been.
What happened to Beast?
They stuck him back in the X-Men because "muh Original Five!" after the Avengers made him awesome
>>93758944
He would have been around his early 20s back then. He got older, got more responsibilities, and started behaving like an adult.

Character progression.

Kamala is the name you'd give a Zoo gorilla.

Stuff that pissed you off even as a kid
I just came down with a case of shingles.
>>93758568
what specifically pissed you off about that episode?
>>93758620
2 twists, neither of which made sense.
Could Flash catch Speedy Gonzales or the Roadrunner if he needed to in order to save the universe?
>>93758422
Wally and Barry could. Not jay.
>>93758422
Toon force > speed force
>>93758462
Roadrunner and Speedy have escapability as a power too though not just speed
Who was in the wrong here?
>>93758304
Dipshit forgot to order the pop and threw a bitch-fit when all he got was a pizza.
>>93758329
did this drunk once except when i asked all i said was ok
>>93758329
Did he actually forget to order or did Mr Krabs just fuck up his order?
I'll start first: Ralph Bakshi and his amazing epic American Pop.
>>93757943
I guarantee no one on /co/ has ever heard or seen this work of art
>>93757943
>American Pop
Underrated as a film, but not as a work of animation.
If you're going to film the entire thing as a live action movie and then rotoscope it, then what's the point? The animation was an afterthought; a gimmick.
>>93758026
And MoCap is any better?
How would you write the finale to X-Men as a whole?
The Old Man Logan way of Wolverine killing everyone.
>>93757843
If I were Marvel and wanted to kill the X-Men I would do this
-Take the Morrison "Sublime" plot, mutants are hated because sentient bacteria that wants to be the main species on earth and hates competition has infected the whole planet, making people dislike or gate mutants.
-Defeat Sublime in a big crossover event
-Mutants arent hated anymore. X-Men are disbanded.
>>93757843
>Season finale is spread over 2 episodes
so do you like it or not
I hate when it's used as a cop out to make the first half totally innocent and irrelevant to the plot and give the viewer anxiety and expectations that something awesome should happen soon.
While the second half is a rushed action packed episode that would work better with more evenly pacing.
>>93757669
>Season premiere is a movie event
Why are Deception/humans alliances so rare? The concept has alot of potential
>>93757640
Prime did it pretty nicely.
>>93757946
>"alliance" ended up in less than 20 minutes
>Silas was more transformer than human
Even Bayformers did it better
Because they set the bar too high with "The Ultimate Doom" and "Megatron's Master Plan."
Do you think his parents are spirits now? Is it possible they know how much they fucked up?
Taking this seriously, the parents probably have no idea he is their son or else they would have visited him by now.
>>93757431
Bruh they threw him away when he was baby
>>93757360
>Maui pulls up islands for the explorers
>One boy in the crowd cheers vigorously
>Maui sees this, gives him a hawk flying ride on a whim
>Kid is having the time of his life
>When they land, boy runs up to his parents, raving excitedly
>Maui looks up
>It's his parents
>As their new son embraces them, the father comes over and pats Maui on the back
>"We can only hope our son grows up to be half as great as you"
>Maui turns away
>"I'm sure he'll live up to your expectations"
>Flies away into the sunset
