EC comics had some beautiful ones back in the day

I used to not get Hank when he did this
Now looking at the state of music, I get it.
>>93863837
No, Hank was stupid for throwing away something that was probably bought with his money.
Also Hank is just another "Back in my day music wasn't so gosh darn wild!" adult, just cherry picking certain music from the past.
>>93863837
Was he in the right?
>>93863944
What about that isn't correct? Go back 10, 20 or even 30 years ago, nobody would have predicted degenerate shit like Death Grips or Kayne West
>“No, I don’t know whether they’re all afraid to come and meet me– no, no they weren’t, really. Because it’s imaginary, you do it with green screen… That was another challenge, you could say, yeah. But it was quite fun. And they’re very encouraging in what you do, suggesting ‘Over here, look over there, imagine that, do this here, they’re coming at you now.'”
>“I’m sorry I’m not in costume. I didn’t even have a costume when I was doing it. It’s all done in motion capture. So… they stick a helmet on your head, they put two cameras around, and they capture all your expressions, facial expressions. So basically, they’re going to concoct some kind of construction and they will use my facial expressions – eyes, mouth, voice – they’ll turn into this murderous, avenging Steppenwolf from the planet Apokolips, apparently. Who’s bent on Hell on Earth.”

ACT FOR DARKSEID!
DIE FOR DARKSEID!
It seems easy to make a shit comic with good art, but can anyone name any genuinely good comics with shit art? Comics are a visual medium, does that mean it's impossible for a comic with bad art to still be good, or does the quality of the writing take precedence over the quality of the art?
Oyvind Thorsby's comics have truly "bad" art IMO. People might say One Punch Man/Mob Psycho 100 but even if the linework in those is bad the construction of the comic is actually very good, so I don't think you can say the art is entirely bad. ONE has a very good sense of how to put a comic together even if he himself doesn't have the skills to make it exactly what he wants to see.
Now Thorsby's comics the art is generally fulfilling only the one essential purpose of comic art: you can mostly tell what's happening. Usually the panels are just the same square panels laid on top of each other and everything is drawn very amateurishly. Close-ups and angle changes are extremely rare. Now EVEN THEN I don't think you can say Thorsby's art is totally and entirely bad because 1) you generally can tell what's happening and 2) the comics are so clusterfuck weird that a bunch of MS Paint monsters and bug-eyed faces actually work for it.
But independently of the art, Thorsby's comics are good. Nobody else is writing anything like them.
>>93863692
Writing quality and visual quality are two separate things, and before a comic is a visual medium, it is still just a story first, remember that.
>>93863692
I can think of a few comics that are great despite having bad art.
Try hitmen for destiny.
Ot hell even the original attack on titan and one punch man are ugly as sin and both got their own shows.
Would Tom Kenny's death/departure be enough to convince Nick to end Spongebob? Or would they just replace him?
Would Dan Castellaneta's death/departure be enough to convince Fox to end The Simpsons? Or would they just replace him?
>>93863619
>>93863656
People are making money. They have to fucking EAT. And for that, they have to make MONEY. Who cares if some lead VA dies? Yes it's absolutely possible to replace them and no, nobody should feel ashamed for doing their job.
>>93863619
>mfw found out that Tom Kenny is apparently a family friend
>i have never known this or met him but now I want to
I'd be a little crushed if he died because he voices a lot of cartoons now
>>93863656
Dan dying may seriously injure the Simpsons but I don't think they'd end it unless they really couldn't find anyone to do a similar voice.
You got any happy memories involving USA's cartoon express?
>>93863509
Reruns of Real Ghostbusters and Ninja Turtles before school...
Seeing the characters interacting on the train in the bumper segments was neat even if the animation was bad and it wasn't as clever about it as the Cartoon Network crossover bumpers...
That's about it.
>>93863509
I miss the USA network from the 80s and 90s in general.
I don't remember much about USA except that they did a lot of Knight Rider reruns.
Anyone got a quick rundown on the state of the CW universe?
Arrow and Flash went to shit as I recall. They running any good storylines right now?
>>93863427
Supergirl stepped up her game, second seasons was way better than the first.
Arrow's team clearly understood why season 4 was so shitty and is now back to form, almost at Season 2 levels.
Flash is not shit and never was.
Legends is campy fun, not awesome but absolutely not shit.
All in all, CWverse is pretty great right now.
>>93863478
>Supergirl stepped up her game, second seasons was way better than the first.
Disregard this numale. Supergirl is a social justice soapbox disguised as a superhero show, with characters and plot lines ripped straight out of Superman comics.
Legends actively seeks out timelines where they can inject their social politics. Jax literally implants himself as a slave during the Civil War era for reasons. Also Albert Einstein was never a genius. It was secretly his wife all along.
With the exception of MAYBE Arrow, every CW show is written like a Marvel comic book, in all the worst ways.
Arrow season 5 was great. If you haven't watched it in a while I would skip s4 and just go straight to s5.
Flash s3 was a bit mediocre.
Legends of Tomorrow s2 was great.
Supergirl s2 was a lot better than s1, but it still needs to improve.

The one that had Bee and Puppycat art?
jesus, how many "bewildered superheroes surrounded by fans" covers have there been in the past couple years?
>>93863645
I think this one is what popularized it.

>What is this?
To commemorate 10 years since Danny Phantom ended, we're celebrating by watching all 53 episodes of the show, one episode every week for each week in 2017.
>What's happening in this topic?
Once a week(usually), every Friday, there will be a general created for discussing that week's episode in particular, along with a link to said episode.
>What's the point of this?
It's just a fun little activity to do throughout 2017 to make the year a bit more interesting, nothing more.
>Why Danny Phantom?
I haven't watched the show in years, and when I did, I never saw all the episodes. Plus, there's 53 episodes, so counting the two-parters it roughly works out pretty well.
>This is stupid
It's very possible that's the case, if it is, please feel free to voice your grievances about it here. If enough people hate this, I won't do it, no hard feelings.
>I want to get into this, is it too late to join in?
It's Never Too Late for Now. Feel free to use the previous threads for links to episodes and watch at your own pace. At only one episode a week, it should be easy to catch up to where the marathon currently is. First thread can be found here: http://desuarchive.org/co/thread/88957503/
IMPORTANT:
Is this a terrible idea? Have better suggestions for a layout for this topic? Know how to do it better and want to be in charge of making these topics instead? Want to berate me for making this stupid thing in the first place? Other? Please address these within this topic.

I hate how the title is clearly alluding to Star Wars, yet it's about a ghost who's living out a Western
>>93863388
Same, but the pun was just too good to pass up I guess, and they probably figured they would never be doing any sort of space episode anytime soon.

>Ted Melfi was in talks to direct the movie, but dropped out to direct HIDDEN FIGURES and was replaced by Jon Watts. Drew Goddard and John M. Daley & Jonathan Goldstein were also approached.
>Asa Butterfield, Charlie Rowe, Judah Lewis, Matthew Lintz, Charlie Plummer, Liam James, Chandler Riggs and Timothée Chalamet auditioned for Spider-Man before Tom Holland was cast.
>Michael Keaton initially declined the role of Adrian Toomes due to scheduling conflicts, but Marvel Studios was able to accomodate to his schedule. Michael Shannon was briefly approached for the role, but declined.
>Watts originally envisioned Nick Fury as Peter's mentor.
>In early drafts, Zendaya's character Michelle was also Peter's apartment neighbor. Further revisions made them just classmates.
>In early drafts, Tony Revolori's character was named "Manuel". Further revisions made him into Flash Thompson.
>Early cuts featured an extended prologue in which, after being told by Stark to lay low at the hotel after the airport battle, Peter sneaks out to explore Berlin and ends up saving the Prime-Minister from muggers, ending up on the frontpage of every newspaper in Germany by the next morning.
>Early cuts featured an extended sequence of Aunt May rescuing a young girl in peril while secretly being observed by Peter.
>Watts produce an entire DVD with over 10 different PSAs starring Captain America, including one about the importance of oral hygiene and one titled "Rapping with Cap". They'll be available on the home release.
