Discuss what you're cooking and or buying for superbowl 50 here.
Lazy Man's Botulism Soup
Lazy Man's Blue Bison Burgers
It probably depends where you are, but the one time I ordered Dominos on the super bowl there was a 2 hour delay because they were so backed up. They told me about it on the phone before they confirmed my order though. Might be worth calling ahead and asking them.
>watch it for the half time show.
I've never heard of this before. The half time show is always horrible. Other tv stations have programs designed to air at half time because people change channels.
They preview a lot of new commercials at the super bowl and it's a big deal for advertisers to try and make something entertaining.
When I was in high school, I delivered pizzas for Dominos, and that was our busiest day of the year. 2nd busiest was 4th of July.
If you want a pizza that was made fresh when you ordered and not one of the dozens crammed through the oven that morning, order uncommon ingredients of a half/half.
It's pretty sad that people, usually chicks or homosexuals watch it just for the halftime show which is downright pathetic, but it's their time and not mine.
I haven't been able to watch that crap since I was a little kid. That's called developing taste and having better things to do.
Probably low-impact snacks like popcorn, corn chips w Texas Caviar, that horrible French onion soup mix dip with potato chips my kids like... maybe some enchiladas or tacos... no money for BBQ ribs this year.
I'm going to get a couple bacon wrapped pizzas too. They're disgustingly good.
Also making crock pot pulled pork for the first time. Definitely not doing ja/ck/s shitty recipe. I've seen people use coke or root beer as the liquid. Anyone ever tried that?
its more fun when you watch and shitpost with /sp/
moot even used to join us
Where can I buy a bunch of plain wings that I can season/sauce myself? Frozen foods section??
Even more fun trying to pirate EPL matches to watch here in the USA.
It's usually possible but then it's 45+ minutes per half, no commercials and the half is only like 10-15 minutes.
BBQ meatballs, Nacho cheese Doritos with nacho cheese, 12 count of buffalo wings and BBQ wings from sheetz. A qt of blue dream and sour diesel and a 24 pack of budlight for the game and a 1/5th of jack for the pregame. Me and the wife are going to get fucked up. N.Carolina Natives
What the hell is wrong with you? Are you a foreigner? Do you have brain damage?
>when youre in 7-11 and a black woman is using her food stamps but still arguing the price of the items
>all she's getting is chips and soda and shit
>complaining how is she supposed to feed her kids
that was almost as bad as the one threatening to shoot up a mcdonalds because they discontinued the item she wanted and she perceived the cashier simply apologizing and relaying that information as disrespectful for some reason
my go-to superbowl snacks are jalapeno poppers. cut jalapenos in half, scoop out membrane/seeds with a spoon, and fill with cream cheese. wrap in bacon and bake.
if I'm feeling fancy I'll use multiple cheeses
Oh, is this that time of year when every American pretends to be interested in this sport you CALL football, despite there already being a football and the fact that in your version, the ball almost never comes into contact with the foot?
j/k I love football but I prefer college football to NFL. REAL football is still king though. Usually what we do when there's a big game, let's say the national championship, or any Ohio State / Michigan game (I never watch the Superbowl), I either do wings (traditional buffalo), a 5-layer dip, or both. And plenty of beer.
What should I make to bring to my Dad's party to make him proud of me?
Same shit I usually eat while watching shitty action movies or playing BL2 on a Sunday. I'll probably make some bread as well.
>mfw just had to do an office photo with everyone's Broncos attire and I'm the only one wearing plain clothes so they had me hold the football
Gonna need some very hard alcohol for when Peyton Manning gets humiliated in a manner similar to his previous two superbowl appearances.
Cola with slow cooked pork is legit. The flavor really comes through, surprisingly. Somehow it just works. And you only really need a 20 ounce bottle for it.
You wanna go real fancy, try a cherry cola (or Cheerwine if you're southern).
>white chicken chili, AKA "football stew"
>homemade guac (Yeb!'s secret recipe)
>homemade pico de gallo
>tortilla chips (obv.)
>home-brewed Saison de Noel (leftover from Christmas)
>deep-fried Snickers a la mode (garnished with Nutella and confectionaer's sugar)
I don't mind tools like this at my super bowl party, as long as he doesn't start getting uppity about his vaunted opinions of taste and which football is "better". It's a fucking party you twat, nobody really cares about sports they're just having a good time, don't ruin it for everyone.
Trying to put together a last minute dish to bring to someone else's party, it's only a few people and I'll be able to prepare it there. I'm on a budget but they want me to make something relatively quick and simple that they've never had before and doesn't try to be healthy.
Based on what's on sale here, I wanted to incorporate pic related into something. Either keep them whole or chop them up, the latter sounds preferable since the piece sizes vary wildly. I was thinking mixing it into some sort of pasta dish or something, even if it's just hamburger helper/velveeta skillets.
Any ideas how I can make a cheap, simple, quick dish out of that for 5-6 people where being pleb or unhealthy is of no concern?
I actually like football and follow it all season, and none of my friends care about football, so I'm going to watch the game alone otherwise I know I would be with like 10 ppl loudly talking whenever the commercials aren't playing and I'd miss all the retarded shit Phil Simms says. Gave up on super bowl parties 2 years ago.
That being said - I did want to get myself a special treat for the game so I went to a local bakery and got some stuff to snack on during the game. Mostly fresh cookies I'm hyped.
I was looking for something less like an appetizer and more like a small meal portion, something you have to put some cooking into and serve as a dish. Wraps are also too obvious I guess, they wanted something "different" since they know I can do some simple cooking.
Here we go lads. T-minus 12 to 14 hours.
>sliced sweet onion on the bottom
>two 3.5 lb pork butts, spice rubbed
>about 20 oz of coca cola
>one tsp. liquid smoke
>sweet baby ray's for after it's pulled
First time making crock pot pulled pork. 7 pounds of meat might be a little too much for my crock pot but i think it will be alright.
Good on you, Dude. I'm trying crock pot buffalo wings this year. I fucking hate baking wings and don't own a deep fryer, so this is an experiment for me. Also got some pizza dough working for a homemade pie.
>taco 'pizza' (done on tortillas)
>mediterranean 'pizza' (done on tortillas)
>nachos and dip
Too tired to cook anything with variety this year. Plus my team is in this one so I'm also too scatterbrained. I will regret the insane levels of cheese I will be ingesting later. Also smart to stick to things I've trained myself NOT to throw at the tv because it's too gooey.
>mfw I just started my pull pork in the slow cooker after dousing it with a bottle of IBC root beer
Season that shit with garlic powder, salt and pepper too anon
Also, I'm making that shit now and I have to drive 2 hours for the party I'm attending. Do you anons think I could get away with wrapping tin foil on the top for the drive down then putting the crock pot back on high for 30 minutes and then setting it to warm?
Right on brother. I put about 8 cloves of garlic in the bottom and my rub had plenty of S&P and I'm hoping it will be good. First time doing it so I can make adjustments next time around. Probably try root beer next time too.
Your idea for transporting it sounds like it should work fine. Post a pic of the finished product please!
>prefering to watch an amateur sport over a professional one
>prefering to watch an amateur sport based on schools you have never attended in a country you don't live in
how fucking retarded can you be?
>In-Laws are grillin' today.
>They're all about the Broncos (would have been the Cowboys if they won games)
>Gonna make some Artichoke Dip.
>Everytime I make it, people inhale it.
>Feels good man.
I'm shocked the Panthers made it. I grew up in Charlotte for years and the only time the Panthers were noteworthy was when that one player put out a hit on his pregnant stripper girlfriend. Still, I like their colors more than the Broncos so go Panthers.
I'll probably cook some sausages or something.
But I'm not watching someone else play a game. That's retarded. You're all retarded. Watching someone play football is the same as watching someone play video games and defeats the purpose of the concept.
>I come to the only super bowl thread on /ck/ to talk shit on the sport i know nothing about
It's unbelievably good. I thought i was pretty generous with the rub, but it could handle more seasoning. I might try this next time. Enjoy the superbowl everyone.
Prediction: panthers 31 denver 20
Ive tested this theory a bunch, if some one is wearing a peice of NFL gear they have 90% chance of not owning a library card.
Basketball 94% chance
And baseball mid 80% of not owning one.
Sports and bad food/shitty beer.
Enjoy the "bread and circuses " pleb.
Good job Anon. I'm still waiting for go time with my wings. They take two hours in the crock, and the game don't start till 6, so I'm just grazing.
I made dip with a pound of chorizo and two cans of Rico's queso blanco because fuck Velveeta. P gud so far. Hot taste.
Bacon wrapped weenies ready for oven. I know it's early but these guys can hang in a warmer while I'm doing wings.
My family actually wants me to make this for the Superb Owl.
Homemade chocolate chip cookies
Homemade brownies w/cream chez frosting
Nachos (just tortilla chips, Rico's gourmet nacho sauce and sliced jalapeños)
Grilled sliders (double, double grilled burger, jalapeño/habanero jack cheese, masde little buns nfrom Pillsbury french loaf, cut into little biscuits sized buns)
Baby carrots/celery with bacon, french onion dip.
Smoked St Louis ribs w/ homemade BBQ sauce
Smoked brat sandwiches
>mfw I already ate wings, nachos, guacamole and burgers
let the binging begin
>forgot pic, kinda drunk.
First year of my life I'm not going to any sort of party.
I've been in crunch all week and I just want to sit around, jack off, and play vidya.
I didn't even watch the game last year that I went, just played Foosball and played with the hosts pets.
Im making the 7 layer steak sandwich today. Stuffing thst stuff on the right into the bread on the left.
I'm feasting on truffled dwarf peaches with jamon, pâté de campagne with slices of fresh crusty baguette, grilled slices of eggplant with shaved bottarga and lemon vincotto, honeyed green olives with thyme and vinegar, and oysters with caviar.
All served with a fine bottle of chablis.
I failed /ck/, I couldn't get through the bag of tortilla chips and smartfood I bought.
Football DOES suck, no doubt.
But, BUT, this is the 50th Superbowl. Even if you don't care that much, even if you hate it.....this is a uniquely American experience, which you can't EVER go back and say "I watched Superbowl 50, or I saw them introduce all the living MVPS from every Superbowl ". You think it means nothing, but you're not thinking ahead. EVERY experience in life means something. Don't ever live in regret.
Made wings, guac, and Ben dip. Also have some fried drumsticks.
Browned butter + Frank's on half and chili paste, rice vinegar, soy sauce, ginger, garlic, tahini made into a paste on the other half, cilantro and green onion on top.
