it's not too bad but he fucks up when he suggests putting butter on it. "butter" flavored popcorn is not butter at all, adding real butter only makes it soggy and gives it a flavor not quite what you're looking for. In reality you should be adding butter salt to the oil prior to frying. Also a regular pot works fine too.

If you skim the milk fat or whatever off the butter once you melt it, it doesn't make it as soggy. But I use flavacol mixed with coconut oil and kernels which is basically what you suggested. It's butter flavored salt.

I run coconut oil with flavacol too
pretty much the closest way of getting that theatre taste. I dont bother with the beta carotene coconut oil though, I dont care about the color that much.

I have the beta carotene one simply because it came in a gallon on amazon. It makes my kettle korn look crazy though when I make it. But normal popcorn is great and the stuff lasts forever with a gallon of the oil and one container of the flavacol
