Penn Station probably has the closest to what I use to get in holes in the wall in New England. If it isn's absolutely soaking in oil and grease, then it isn't an authentic Italian sub.

and yes, a poboy can get fucked up. Any place that doesnt use fresh daily delivered french bread that is crunchy but soft, and has a slightly crumbly exterior is objectively not good.
absolutely, but the key component you are missing is Baton Rouge is a fucking shit hole. so much so, that I am a LSU student and I am transferring to University of Massachusetts just to get the fuck out of this hell hole. New Orleans to Baton Rouge is an abrupt sad change.
