>TIL alcohol is a confirmed potent carcinogen
Fuck why isn't this on the warning labels? I'm going to have to rethink all of my drinking habits.
the only thing you really hear about is that its bad for fetuses, it dehydrates you, and its bad for your liver in excess over long periods of time. You never hear that it contributes to dozens of types of cancer.
Small amounts of alcohol have a cardioprotective effect, this has been known for a long time. Drinking a small amount of alcohol daily increases average life span by several years compared to abstaining from alcohol (the causality is pretty much 100% confirmed, independent of all other factors)
Stop telling yourself and others this already.
No amount of alcohol is "healthy."
Have that single glass of wine because you enjoy it; not because it gives you "several years of lifespan."
You know what does have a very significant cardioprotective effect, though? Going for a nice refreshing run 4 times a week.
But that's not as comfy as a little glass with dinner, is it?
I think all the alcohol bottles here say "drink responsibly" on them. Close enough I guess.
Why don't you give me a source on the heart benefits outweighing the cancer risks then?
I'm always eager to learn.
And no, I'm not a Baptist minister. I'm not a doctor either, nor do I pretend to be one on 4chan.
Just stop giving medical "advice" if you're this unable to back it up
Just so we're clear; my pedestrian query was "provide a source to back up your claim that drinking alcohol can be a net gain healthwise."
I don't think it's so pedestrian really, but you're the Internet doctor.
So why does alcohol specifically increase cancer risk in mouth, throat, and esophagus?
I mean, I'm no expert but I always assumed it's because the mucous membranes were affected by the alcohol sloshing over them when you drink it.
this, this was a thinly veiled bait thread (I'm op) but it took 21 posts for someone to call it out.
Fuck you /ck/ I'm going back to reddit, or not, this place has basically become reddit.
This place hasn't become Reddit. The Reddit food communities aren't full of bald-faced shitposting, Nazi invasions, ironic worship of awful Youtube personalities, intercontinental dick waving contests, and a very distinct lack of meaningful on-topic discussion.
This place has become everything wrong with modern 4chan
