I heard it's illegal in Wisconsin to not serve apple pie with cheese.

What's up with that?

State law says you can't.

You can't just make something up and then say "what's up with that?"!

It's just a myth
>>
Jokes aside, I've never tried it, only heard about it in MiB3 before now.

Anyone who has actually tried it that has an opinion on it?

Never tried cheese with apple pie? Yeah, sure, good combo. Not a must-have, but a sharp cheddar goes well with apples whether in a pie or not.
>>
I have lived in Wisconsin all my life and never seen cheese on apple pie.
>>
no, you are thinking of Wisconsin specialty: frozen custard
>>
Is this myth an actual thing that coasties believe?

>The 1935 Laws of Wis., ch. 106 came close; it required serving a small amount of cheese and butter with meals in restaurants (effective from June 1935 to March 1937).
>Interestingly, Vermont just passed a law in 1999 designating the apple as the state fruit and apple pie as the state pie. It also requires a good faith effort to serve either a glass of cold milk, a 1/2 ounce or larger slice of Cheddar cheese, or a large scoop of vanilla ice cream with a slice of apple pie. (Title 1 Vermont Statutes Annotated, secs. 512 & 513, eff. July 1, 1999)

I haven't tried it but in principle it sounds like it would work.

Apples are always part of a cheese board.
Apples and cheese both are excellent in pies.

>apple pie with cheese
Sounds dreadful. Oh look, it's a British creation too, that explains everything.

I'll pass.

Probably because Wisconsin can't pay people enough to get rid of all their awful, awful cheese products.

Or you're lying, or you heard wrong, or something like that.

Dang, we got ourselves a gen-u-ine butt hurt.

Nah, just amused at how bad Wisconsin dairy is. WI gets $900 million in dairy subsidies alone, out of $7bn for the state.

http://farm.ewg.org/regiondetail.php?fips=55000&summlevel=2

In contrast, California gets half the subsidies, but produces twice as much dairy, and it's higher quality.

California Kraft cheese product and skim milk is not higher quality than Wisconsin cheese

ITT: Americlaps debate the best "cheese".

Wisconsin dominates all levels of the cheese market. California dairy is mostly milk and fake process cheese. California is by far the largest producer of skim milk in the country
