I would buy a waffle maker if I didn't just use them as a delivery system for butter and syrup.

I tried making waffles with my mom's iron yesterday, as a matter of fact. They came out pretty good, but cleanup is too much of a PITA (no removable plates). No wonder she never uses it. Anyway, I won't be doing that again any time soon.

No no, nothing stuck, it came out easy, golden, just right. We never use the thing, so it was cleaning the grease film off the griddle before cooking and when done before putting it back in the cabinet--also there was some minor spillage running down the side of the apparatus, but that was totally my fault. It just ended up being too much of a hassle.

But if you read my post again, you'll see that in fact that is not true.

Honestly, let's step back from the shit posting for a second. Look at their construction. That nice crisp exterior is perfect for accentuating with maple syrup that collects in the pockets. Honestly I don't think butter goes well on waffles at all.
And look at the etymology: when the word first appeared, it referred to a cake designed to have honey poured over it.

Finally, look at usage. They're produced and served with syrup pretty much anywhere it isn't a street vendor making it. Go to a sit down restaurant in Belgium or the Nederlands and you'll often find them served with syrup as an option there too.
I know 4chan is famous for its barely pubescent sociopaths, but come now, surely you can realize that immature solipsism has its limits as a life coping strategy.
