What's /ck/'s policy on switching between dried and canned beans?
Why would it matter?
I think dry beans are cheaper, canned beans are more convenient.
Canned for convenience.
Why not fresh beans?
Either way it makes you fart alot.

Yeh but 1/3 of a cup of dry beans is equal to one can.
Canned are better for spur-of-the-moment meals
Dried are cheaper and require very little planning to begin with.
Ancient grocery store dried beans can stay hard for fucking ever though. They're easy enough to visually spot in your container of soaked beans, but what a pain in the ass to fish them out.
Canned beans are more consistent in texture, due to being boiled under pressure.

They are a bitch to cook properly. It takes 2+ hours and changing two waters. It is only okay for large batches because it's cheaper that way

I've heard it said that canned beans have a different texture and a more starchy flavor. That, and the recipe calls for a pound of dried black beans and I really can't be fucked to soak overnight.
buy them dry and can them yourself
>best of both worlds

beans are so cheap that i can't imagine even thinking about buying them dry to save money. canned all the way. takes 20 seconds of prep instead of 3 hours.
