What do you think of British cuisine, /ck/?
what in the fuck
>>7258906
pig disgusting, fortunately at least in London you can get virtually any type of cuisine so you never have to eat british food. This guy will whip you up some delicious tikka masala.
I mean mushy peas? Come on.
Some pretty nasty stuff, just look what it does to their women.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gbCmY8PmuJU
I think in Britain we have some really good produce, but that doesnt translate in to great meals. For example, I think British blue cheeses are the best in the world. We also have really good pies, chutneys, jams, etc as well as some decent meat in places. Most of the food is very homely/countryside and rustic. It isn't pretty food nor is it refined. But it can taste delicious.
However, to get hold of the decent produce either requires spedning significantly more money on food, or making it yourself, hence it isnt so popular. A lot of traditional British food that would be more well known to the rest of the world is complete shit and very bland.
I think its similar to the American beer industry in that if one was to take a glance, all they would see is mass producers making piss like Bud and Coors. But a little closer inspection and you realise there are many craft brewers making great beer.
>>7258906
Britain has very good chefs, restaurants, produce, and some regional dishes.
The problem is that British people have the absolute most pleb taste in the entire world. If meat has any color or moisture in it they're afraid to try it. If it has any flavor that isn't ketchup (tomato sauce) or HP sauce they'll remedy it as soon as they can.
Why do you think Indian cuisine took off so well over there? They weren't used to flavor so curry was exotic and delicious to them. They still had to go fuck it up by simplifying the flavors and going overboard on spice (vindaloo) in a backwards-ass attempt at authenticity.
>>7258906
It's garbage and I wouldn't call it cuisine to begin with. They love sugar and sweets and that's why their teeth are all rotten and fucked up. Yes they have better dentistry now and get fake teeth, but they're still ugly and fucked up.
>>7259199
I'm going to be honest: as inauthentic as it is, I fucking love vindaloo.
Also, as terrible as they are, I love sausage rolls. I usually get mine from an Irish bakery though, don't know if there's any difference. I haven't been to the UK since I was a child.
>What do you think of British cuisine?
I don't.
>>7258906
ketchup...on waffles...what in the actual fuck why
>>7259752
As much as we get made fun of the stuff here in the States, I've never seen anyone abuse ketchup like the Brits.

British cuisine is so bad that British posters shouldn't be allowed on a food and cooking board.

If there's one good part of British cuisine, it's definitely the English breakfast. Guys know how to start the day, just not anything else.
They really seem to love potato chips and keep making wacky flavors.
I try them whenever i get the chance.
you're fucking morons
>>7260387
>and Americans should
Hahahahaha
>>7260340
Pretty sure that's a strawberry puree.
At least that's what it looks like. I'm not sure about the chervil garnish
>>7259140
I think it's just popular to pull the wool over the better parts of British cuisine and gloss over the grody bits. Jellied eels and whatnot. Second is the popularity of the portrayal of being English as a way of life focused on professing to be boring and bland. When a sunday roast, a roast chicken, a beef wellington, a kidney pie, a spotted dick or a full english breakfast is presented, it usually elects little more than shrugs thanks to how all of these entrees are most often portrayed as if variation and skill in preparation did not exist. A sunday roast can very well be the Mrs. Beeton beef roast, and even then the quality of the meat and the chef will judge between bland and meritory, or then it can be suffolk lamb with grilled aubergines, chickpeas and labneh, or Berkshire roe deer with beef dripping chips accompanied by beetroot, slivers of roast onion, pickled mushrooms and a rich jus. Heck, most of the food klingons here masturbate over plain beef sirloin steak in half of the threads, and we're supposed to believe that they've suddenly discovered such sophistication that they'll turn their noses at a succulently pink beef roast? Might be more a matter of "by whom" rather than "what" here.
And then there's >>7259262, on top of everything else. British cuisine has an enduring bad name mostly thanks to people who have never encountered it, but do avidly watch Simpsons instead.
If it's not halal then it's not British
The produce in England is very high quality for the price. Was super impressed with small cottage industries making small goods.

Those chunky chips, though a very small portion by my own chippy standards, look like they have been cooked in lard instead of oil? Hence them being crisp and not oily. Looks good.

Holy shit. I never would have though about having bone marrow with a brekkie.
One thing I miss now that traditional butchers have all but dissappeared are the old lambs necks we would make a stew out of. I loved sucking the marrow out of those spinal column discs. Fucking delicious! Never tried a whole bone for marrow though... hmm... yum!

Mushrooms 'aint got much room for other shit. Ask any mycophagist - the best way of eating mushrooms is a simple sautee in butter or olive oil.
Only retards would dream of diluting all that texture and flavour in something abominable. (I can't even think of what murkins use mushrooms in? Cambells condensed soup? Shitty tins of processed button mushrooms to go with their cheeze?)
>>7261928
It takes days to make mushy peas you ignorant cockgobblers.
You need a box of dried peas "DINNA" is the best brand - it comes with a hair-net and some kind of sodium tablets.
You put the peas in the hairnet then steep in a big pain of water with the tablets.
At least 24 hours later you retrieved the peas and boil them in their sack for an hour.
Release and mash. I think thats how my granny used to make 'em.

>masturbate over plain beef sirloin steak
I've never fully understood people who think sirloin is the bees knees. Sirloin is the stir fry and stroganoff cut, not the steak cut.
>>7265960
A nice prime sirloin makes an excellent steak.
It's usually what I get since it's about half the price of ribeye or ny strip. I reserve ribeye/strip/filet for special occasions.
>>7259044
Wow its still all boring shit.
>>7265964
I don't know where to find prime sirloin, but I'll keep that in mind. I buy steak when the price drops either because it's about to go out of date or somebody got a good buy on it. My local food lion had T-bones and porter houses for 5.99/lb so I picked up 4 of them, vacuum sealed and into the freezer they go along with the 4 strips that I picked up for 6.99/lb at Sam's club. I don't even give chuck eye the $6-7/lb they want for it and wait until it's marked to less than $5. I finally have power to my shed and my upright freezer, so I can really take advantage of good buys.
>>7265991
Just need to go to the butcher counter instead of getting the cheap plastic wrapped steaks. They keep the prime cuts at the counter, assuming you shop at a real supermarket that actually has a butcher counter instead of someplace like walmart that gets everything already packaged from a distributor.
Most of the stuff that's pre-wrapped in the coolers is all the choice and select cuts which are lower quality tiers than prime.
Prime sirloin is usually around $6-7/lb around here and prime ribeye/strip/filet goes for $14-20/lb
