I found some pork from 2009 while defrosting the freezer. It smells and look pretty normal, but should I assume it's safe on that basis? Would you eat it? Most storage recommendations talk about months, so this is unexplored territory for me.
I ate it... I ate it all, jack. Once in the pan with some spices, age didn't matter. While a bit chewy and stringy, it tasted almost like it had been stored for no more than a couple of months. Now if I don't shit myself into another dimension later this evening, I'll cook the remaining 7kg.
