Not necessarily, you make a bunch of other salads to go with it, get some good bread and be set. The lack of blender is the real spoiler for you on the hummus front.

You could substitute chickpeas for hominy and make pozole

lol I've actually stopped using a blender and started using a potato masher for my hummus, I prefer the texture, and it's easier to wash.
