It's a common food in Bremen where I live in Germany. Has been since I can remember. I'm 34 years old. I used to walk to the bakery to get them nearly every morning before school.
Shoehorning it in is dead, however it tastes very good with certain foods with naturally compliment it- shit with mustard, hot dogs, etc.
