Came from the doctor with ldl at 500mg so I need to start eating healthy. My meal plan basically goes like this:
>morning
Steel oats and apple juice
>lunch (two times a week)
Jbox teriyaki combo with Arnold palmer
>snack
Salad
>dinner
Rice with beans and green beans and salmon
Basically doing this for a couple months straight... Will this help?

eat an apple instead of drinking juice
stop eating fast food, the oils they fry stuff in oxidizes the cholesterol in the foods and is very bad for atherosclerosis symptoms
go for a straight iced tea instead of the sugary lemonade.

>eat an apple instead of drinking juice
I put apple slices on my oats if that counts
>stop eating fast food, the oils they fry stuff in oxidizes the cholesterol in the foods and is very bad for atherosclerosis symptoms
Twice a week cause I take classes and not allowed to bring anything so have to eat something from fast food
>go for a straight iced tea instead of the sugary lemonade.
Non negotiable, I can't stand the taste of straight tea or water. Probably all my years from drinking sugary drinks but it's the closest alternative I could think of to soda
What is a hole in the wall spot in your town that is absolutely awful? And it's so bad that you wonder how they're still open?
>Monrovia, CA
>Los Victor's on Foothill blvd
>Ran by some dirty mexican
>He is so desperate for money that he will overcharge you on food, and still short you by one or two tacos if you order large, and hopes that you don't catch him
>Only takes cash, and if you are carrying 20s, you are basically too rich to shop here, because he never has any change.
>he will drop your food on the floor and still feed it to you
>You can't cancel your order or ask for a refund. They will just try to give you more tacos that they have dropped on the floor.
Pic related, some cartoon a cute asian girl drew about the place. She apparently had a good experience, but it I posted it to show that cartoons are obviously not an accurate representation of real life, because this spot is a shit hole.

I want to hear about the dirty food places /ck/ has been to.
nobody showed up
Oakville, Ontario. Used to have this place called the White Oaks Eatery. Shitty looking place run by this adorable old couple, but had amazing breakfast food. Now it's a fucking flight center.
Is this not the best invention in the last 20 years?
I wish everything came in a tube
The opening
Where is this going, OP?
>>8898446
The Tube, US patent 152,098 is an expensive item to manufacture and transport.
You may see more Tube food™ available in the future as manufacturing techniques improve and materials cost drops.
For me, it is the Tube, the simplest of all food dispensing devices.

fuck I hate people I emailed her boss I hope they fire her.
Did you tip 20%

I wanted to accidentally elbow my glass when I left but I have calmed down somewhat these days. I didn't feel like going for the whole big scene thing today. No I did not tip her, as it should have been obvious but I thought about leaving one cent which is always worse than nothing.
>wait fifteen minutes
you were at the bar, you should have said something to someone
Explain this, /ck/.

Rate my soup, /ck/.
Carrots, kale, farro, sausage, sweet potato, and onion.
I personally don't believe that sausage has any business being in a soup, but the rest sounds good, I would just use beef or chicken instead.
>>8897907
I'm inclined to agree but I really like sausage. The problem is that you lose most of it after a bowl or two.
Thinking about just taking off the casing and crumbling it in next time, thoughts?
You should brown the sausage first, crumbled or not.
>post my pizza on /fit/

WTF
Hopefully you get banned here too
Fuck off
Should have posted a keto pizza

Let's not be jerkoffs here.
Have you ever followed a recipe by a famous chef and liked it? from the /tv/ Gordon Ramsay to the /ck/ Graham Elliot
Yeah, of course. I never said I didn't.
>>8897498
But how can I not jerk off when such a delicious blonde is before me?
I used Gordon's Shepard's Pie recipe. It's pretty much perfect.
I'm currently not eating meat, but I don't just wanna eat pasta with tomato sauce. What is the best vegetarain alternative to minced meat/meat sauce that you people know?
I have lentils, smoked tofu, onions, garlic carrots and two different jarred sauces around. Bonus points if you can tell me how to make good shit with these ingredients.
They make and sell vegetable-based protein pellets.
>>8897324
Are you trying to make a sauce that copies the texture/taste of a meat-based sauce?
Or are you simply looking for an alternative pasta sauce that doesn't contain meat?
>making kvass
>recipe calls for a teaspoon of yeast, but the only packet I had supposedly expired in early 2015
>put in half a packet
>four hours later, it's bubbly as fuck
Shit, what do I do?
Should I filter the whole thing and then put in a tablespoon of yeast? Should I just leave it? Should I trash the whole thing and start over? Or something else?
Pls advise
>>8896971
If it kicked off bubbling, your yeast was alive and is actively fermenting. I don't get it. What do you think your problem is?
>>8896971
Maybe the yeast is broken and producing co2?
I don't know, I'm not an expert.
>>8896971
Get a new packet of yeast and start over.

Whatever problem you might think you have with poutine, you definitely picked the most inoffensive picture of it I think I've ever seen here.
How do I pick a good set of pots and pans /ck/?
Think about what you actually need, how much you're willing to spend, and whether they are short term and might be used by dumb room mates or if you're buying for life.
Buy something practical and comfortable, and don't fall for as seen on tv garbage, or anything with a celebrity chef's name on it.
Only buy non-stick for pieces that actually need to be non-stick. Cast iron and carbon steel are good at what they're good at, but you don't want those to be the entirety of your set.
I wouldn't buy a set. Chances are there are going to be pieces you'll never use and they'll end up cramming up the space in your cabinet. I also feel that affordable sets are always inferior to individual items bought separately when it comes to quality/craftsmanship. I might be wrong tho
>>8897332
I agree with this 100%. Sets are usually shitty because they contain sizes you don't want. It's also rare that you'd find a single brand that does all things well.
My suggestion:
-12" cast iron skillet, Lodge.
-12" stainless fry pan. If you have money: Demeyere Proline. If you don't: Update International.
-Large and small saucepans. See above for brand suggestions.
-Dutch oven: Lodge (enameled), or Demeyere Atlantis (fucking awesome, but also $$$)
-12" nonstick fry pan. Eagleware or Tramontina.
-Stock pot, Update International
In general you want your cookware to be thick, heavy, and oven-safe. That means no plastic or wood knobs/handles, etc.
