these fucking people jump through so many hoops just to eat something that reminds them of the thing they've determined never to eat again. Just eat what makes you happy ffs
You guys have probably had this thread a thousand times but here we go again.
I'm trying to make a NY style pizza, I'm specifically trying to get the dough right, my oven goes up to 500F and it has a broiler too, recently I moved up from cooking at 400F to 500F and the results are magnificent, but I know I'm still not quite getting it right, any suggestions?
every guide to pizza making I find focuses on everything but the temperature/baking, which is arguably the most important part
Also, would making it on a pizza stone work? I know steel plates are ideal for NY style but I just don't have one right now lol
>>9396148
Post your dough recipe and method of baking.
I've now acquired a hankering for pizza this weekend.
>>9396148
Oh, and butter/oil your crust. It's looking dry.
I usually wipe down my stove top at the end of each day because I pan-fry most of my food. I don't mind cleaning the immediate area, but I find that oil tends to accumulate in odd spots like the overhead stovetop fans.
Would getting one of these reduce the amount of stray oil that finds its way farther than it should be?
Or are they just a useless kitchen tool?
>>9396102
Yeah, they work very well.
>>9396102
Having one has been invaluable with how much cleaning it saves me.
>>9396102
That isn't odd at all. Where do u think the air current blows when the fan is on? What's the fucking point of the fan in the first place? Clean your range hood regularly. This includes removing the fan and wiping the inside.
So I've been drinking McCafé for a pretty good while now, but they just introduced more stuff. I usually get the lattes, and I tried the new iced "macchiato" and it was good, but it seemed more like café au lait than a macchiato. Or a latte with the milk not being steamed. And their cappuccino I suspect is different from the one they used to have. Reason being, their official website lists it as having by far the most sugar and calories of the McCafé coffee drinks.
The normal way to make cappuccino is a latte, but with less milk and more espresso. That would have LESS calories, not more.
So, does anyone know exactly how the McCafé latte, cappuccino, and macchiato differ from one another? Furthermore, does anyone know what makes the cappuccino such a sugar and calorie monstrosity?
Also, allegedly the syrups don't use artificial flavors or colors anymore, but their pumpkin spice syrup is SO orange that I wonder what they did color it with.
Chances are whatever you order you'll get the same thing you'd get if you ordered a latte. This is how non-specialist coffee shops function and it's just something you have to accept.
OP here. Just checked, and indeed, no artifical flavors or colors! Still looks weird that the drink is so orange, though.
>>9396326
Wait, but it also has caramel color... I thought that was an artificial color.

Anyone cook with this before? How come people don't add liquids in their recipes?
>>9395980
There's liquid in the food you put in.
>Corned beef
>Pot roast
>Pulled pork
I use mine all the time. Nice to be able to set the food out before work and have it be ready once you get back.
That said you can cook at temperatures lower than boiling and the liquid isn't exactly necessary, but I couldn't see the specific dishes I cook turning out correctly without going dry.
Not OP here. Anyone ever use a crockpot to cook chicken? I had a roommate a few years back who would put an entire chicken into a crockpot and leave it there for hours or even days, it would come out delicious and you could even kind of eat the bones.
Just wondering how easy it is to do/how best to do this. Would you add a whole chicken and maybe some veggies like garlic, onion, carrot, potato, celery, etc. and some herbs and spices?
consensus on mcdonald's?
>>9395926
Chicken and cheese is sure to please
In all seriousness I worked there and the utensils are all encrusted with grease from endless use and terrible washing.
Don't eat that shit. Some stuff that isn't ordered regularly is left in the heated trays for many hours.

Why so much hate against Victorinox Fibrox on /ck/?
I frequently see /ck/ users recommending knives like Mercer Millennia over Fibrox with the main reasoning being "it's not the ATK meme knife" when Mercer Millennia can't hold an edge for shit, and it is itself a meme knife being pushed by culinary schools (Mercer marketing reps pay schools to include Mercer knives in the "you have to get these to attend class" shopping list).
Is /ck/ so contrarian they will deliberately recommend something that's inferior and almost as expensive just because it's not the most popular product?
>>9395849
I use Kiwi.

>why is ck retarded
Who knows. But it sure does seem knife threads bring out the autism.
I stole one from work
Pretty good for chopping up my tendies.
Lemon zucchini bread. Got my eggs, lemon, sugar and oil, and my flour, baking soda and powder, and salt.
Gradually add the dry stuff to the wet stuff, whisk it.
Zucchini seems to be absent from the list of things you got. Tough to make zucchini bread without it.
One huge zucchini, spoons for reference
