I'm interested in trying out scotch but I don't really know where to start. Which one would be a good one to try if I've never had one before?
I'd say Glenfiddich 12yo; affordable and representative of most standard offerings on the single malt market. If you prefer something a bit sweeter, I'd try Glenfarclas 12yo. If you don't mind trying smoky / peated whisky, I'd suggest Bowmore 12yo. You may also want to try blends first; generally smoother and more approachable for someone who's never tried scotch. In that respect, you could try Famous Grouse 12yo, similar to the Speyside/Highland style of single malts but with a touch less bitterness than most. If you're looking for something more of an all-rounder, I'd suggest Highland Park 12yo, which encompasses both the sherry sweetness of aged single malts, but with a touch of peat & smoke.
Lagavulin. Don't look back.

i wann try and recreate this flavour at home
the ingredients list on the back says
>sugar
>buttermilk powder
>tomato powder
>onion powder
>hydrolysed soya protein
>garlic powder
>dried soy sauce
>dried parsley
>dried green and red peppers
>chilli powder
>basil extract
i don't have all of those things so i'm looking for alternatives, particularly for the hydrolysed soya protein
>>9092925
Idk, use the real version instead of powders? For example, instead of buttermilk powder use buttermilk, soy sauce instead of soy sauce powder. And forget about hydrolyzed soy, that's probably just some kind of stabilizer.

i'm worried using liquids will just make whatever i end up usng this on soggy
i was thinking kale chips to try it out on though, that'd probably work fine

MOTHERFUCKING ANCHOVIES
Do you like them /ck/? I fucking love them. I like them on pizza ,crostini, minced up to top salmon or even on a bagel with cream cheese, onions, capers and pepper.
What do you guys like to do with these tasty little fuckers?
They're ok. Aside from the obvious use as a sauce flavoring. I'll occasionally eat them on rice.
Use them where you need a burst of intense salt flavouring

Delicious. I mostly mince them and add them to my tomato sauce, but I like eating them on crusty bread too.

Has anyone tried the Impossible Burger? There's a place locally that just started selling them and I wanna know what I'm in for.
>>9089500
Is that the vegetarian "burger" that claims to be impossible to distinguish from meat or something like that? Sounds like a waste of time to me.
>>9089500
Nowhere here sells them.
What is it?
I want to try it just to see what it's about, but then again I don't want to enable them with my money if it's bad. We'll call it a draw.
So I went to this cajun place the other day and they have an interesting way of serving food. Its more of a family venture considering you're stuck ordering a "Bag" of food which you are limited to choosing the type of seafood pretty much. There are other things on the menu but this is the main reason people go here.
So the sauce that they cool the food in is amazing. I have no idea what it is though or how to recreate it. Can someone help me here figure out what it is that they used to create their sauce. All I have is pictures of similar places on the internet. Meaning that this sort of style restaurant is semi popular and that one of you may know what i'm getting at.
pic related.
This is what it looks like as you're digging in. As you can see it comes in a bag and they have trash bags on the table effectively making it your plate. The meal I had came with potatoes, corn, sausage, crawfish, and shrimp.
Everything is soaked in this sauce. Its very oily but I couldn't figure out what was in it.

That's not burnt anon, it's seared. That's what makes meat taste good.
