How come parmesan is the only type of cheese that gets sold like this? A powdery sharp cheddar topping would be great for chili and casseroles.

That shit is nothing like """real""" Parmesan, but I use it anyway because it's cheap.

Rookie question here. How do I cook burger patties on a frying pan? Every time I've tried I've burned the shit out of the pan and got grease all over the stove and makes a fuckton mess. The seasoning all burn onto the pan and the patty doesnt even cook all the way through

Turn the heat down, idiot
>>
>>9124022
Don't make thick patties. Form wide, thin patties. Medium-high heat to start, sear one side for a minute or two (eye ball it, use judgment based on how thick the patty is), flip to the other side, turn the heat down to medium and finish cooking for another couple of minutes. This will yield a diner-style size patty with crispy seared outside, fully cooked inside.

I thought it was heat up, heat less
And don't forget that resting is part of the cooking process because

If you are grilling anything besides BBQ chicken, hamburgers, or hot dogs you are not American.

If you are eating any sides besides potato salad and baked beans you are not American.

If you are eating any vegetables besides corn you are not American.

it's not about "authentic", it's about "not disgusting"
>>
>>9123919
the average burger arent stupid enough to spend 40 dollars on expensive seasoned wood fuel each time they use a wood fired oven just so then you can have overrated "authentic" pizza. American pizzas are less stressful to make, nutritious and cheaper. I don't want to spend half a day tending to a woodfired pizza oven either just so then I could make burnt sauce on a flatbread

I was so fucking hearbroken when I had a tamale for the first time and found out the "puff pastry" on the outside was corn husks and you can't eat them and they're soggy and mushy and disgusting. I was expecting something like a sausage roll, something crispy and crunchy with delicious meat and sauce inside. Tamales are basically stuffed cornbread in a disgusting wet leaf wrapper. Fuck you.

from one to another, this behavior is ruinous
Hemingway's Nick had it right
"He says opening bottles is what makes drunkards."
Never open a bottle and you'll be ok! Hemingway killed himself, lel.
>>
>>9123337
Are you illiterate? What I'm saying is why drink at all ever unless you aim to get drunk? If you're not going to get drunk it's pretty much pointless as you're only handicapping yourself without being able to have much fun doing so but you also incur the negative health associations and I've noticed that people who have "one or two" drinks tend to drink a lot more often than those who will refuse unless they deem it's been an appropriate amount of time since the last time.

So /ck/, I've been gifted about 15 of these soups. What am I in for? I've never had this, but I don't plan on wasting any of it because I'm low on funds. How can I spice it up to make it different as I inevitably will want some variety?

I didn't eat very weird things when I was a kid, but my dad did when he was drunk. He'd come back to his apartment at 11:30 P.M. on a Saturday night, I was watching cartoons and playing Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow. He'd go to the kitchen and make this weird concoction of a pan-fried hot dog, black olives, refried beans, melted cheddar, salsa, Tabasco, and sour cream on a flour tortilla. He'd make 2 of them, hazily watch the cartoons and talk to me for a bit, then go pass out in his room. Next month, he will have been sober for 10 years, so that's good, too bad I'm an alcoholic now.

is this actually good or is it just a meme?

It's actually pretty good. I found a place that served the fried chicken with cornbread jalapeno waffles and it was really good.

My new Chinese GF made me a shit ton of dumplings. They are off the fucking chain! The dough is that kind that squeaks between your teeth when you bit in. The filling is spicy ground beef and cilantro. I think I'm going to really enjoy my time with this Asian qt.
