Please redpill me on making macaroons
use good almond flour
use a food scale
be precise
its a science, not cooking

How do i know if my almond flour is good? It's an imported one since it's not natural in my country
I'm just eating some lovely ham from an Italian deli with a bit of hot English mustard and the question occurred to me: is mustard a thing in Italy?
>>9086486
Mostarda di frutta
>>9086494
>Mostarda di frutta (sometime also called only mostarda) is a Northern Italian condiment made of candied fruit and a mustard-flavoured syrup.
Good lord but why?
From Italy here.
I don't think we have a native variety of mustard like the French do with dijon and the Americans do with their neon-coloured vinegar spread, but we do eat mustard, yes. Most of Italy uses French style though the northeast prefer stronger, coarser mustard.
Cremona is a city that has a speciality of fruits preserved in sugar and mustard, if you wanna consider that a native type. I've never actually eaten it, but I am aware that it exists.

I don't know why anyone would just call it 'mostarda.' That just means 'mustard.' It's mostarda di Cremona.
how are people not satisfied with a simple bowl of cheerios, whole milk, and fresh strawberries as a light meal
strawberries are so fucking sweet and relatively cheap if you live in New England
idk man
fuck high fructose corn syrup fucking the nation bros
you don't even need cheerios and that's such a good simple snack
doesn't sound like it but it is
mm yes i love when i poop out the seeds
I'm going to start reviewing these fruit pops I recently discovered. If you live in Southern California or the southwest in general ( I don't know how far these get distributed) you may have seen these at your local liquor store, gas station, 7/11. There's tons of flavors, a lot of them catering to Hispanic taste buds but today I'm gonna be reviewing this pistachio bar I grabbed from a liquor store in Northridge.
First impression is that it's actually got bits of pistachio in it, which is a big plus. Doesn't just taste like someone slapped pistachio flavoring in a fruit bar. The green is a little off putting, and I would've liked to have more cream than ice since that's what I'm used to when I eat pistachio. It's definitely more flavorful than sugary, and left me craving salted lime peanuts afterwards, but not the best mix in comparison with other flavors I've had before, especially ones where cream is the centerpiece of the bar.
Overall I give it a 6.8/10
Probably won't pick it up again, but was good and refreshing in the moment.
For most of our history as humans we never used plates. Should we not just enjoy the savory flavors imparted on our food from mother nature?
After all, it is natural and is the highest form of eating that strengthens our gut flora from the dangers of fad diets and overprotective chefs.
For most of history people became parents around 14 years of age and died at 25-30.
For most of history giving birth came with a very high risk of death. So did the flu or a broken leg.

Eating with the same hand you wipe your ass with strengthens you Sanjay?
>>9086254
Fun fact: The vast majority of americans didn't use forks until after the Civil War; they ate with their filthy hands. Still, to this day, they wear feces and urine ridden shoes on their lice ridden indoor carpets, no less. Fucking barbarians.

Odd but good combo thread.
I'll begin with my recommendation of chocolatr cake with marmite. Yeast is beast.
I have nothing to contribute but I liked your pic

Thanks. It's 'the Bean Eater' by Annibale Carracci. Actually, come to think, it would be nice to get a classi/ck/al art thread going.
Hey /ck/ I've got a few frozen chicken breasts that I'd like to cook before I go to the gym
If I put them in a plastic bag & thaw them in warm water am I going to give myself food poisoning?
pic is the exact brand frozen chicken I have
>>9086166
Nah, you're gonna be fine, you can eat them raw as well, as the lukewarm water will kill all the bacteria.
>>9086166
The best way to thaw frozen food is with cold running water, counterintuitive though that may be.
>>9086205
really? how long would that take?
I already put them in the warm water bath, am I going to die if I cook & eat them?
I'm moving out in around a week or so, and I'll pretty much be learning how to cook as I go along.
What are some good meal planners/recipe apps and sites that can help me get started?

>moving out
Haven't seen this thread before.
Do you own any cookware? Like a bowl and a cup, maybe a spoon?
Microwave ovens and instant coffee are both punishments for being in a hurry, avoid them.
What do you like to eat? Or, more to the point, what can you afford to feed yourself?
Really basic list:
A knife or two (6" chef's knife, 3" paring knife)
A fork, spoon and knife to eat with
A plate or two
A pot to heat water et cetera in
A pan to cook shit in
A steamer insert (cheap)
A vegetable peeler
Some tongs to grab food with
Spatulas, flippers, et cetera
A colander to drain stuff
A salt shaker
A pepper grinder
A toaster or toaster oven is nice to have
A cutting board (not wood)
A dish sponge and some dish soap and a rack to dry your dishes/pots/pans
A wine glass
A corkscrew
A can opener
A drinking glass or two
A salad spinner (chicks dig salads)
Some dish towels to clean up
That's more than enough to get you started.
Major stud god grill hardware:
A charcoal grill
A charcoal chimney
A box of matches
Some newspaper
When in doubt, grill. Very many.
If you're serious about cooking/baking:
A digital kitchen scale
A Therma-pen instant read thermometer
A KitchenAid stand mixer (get the good one)
Learn how to clean, cut and steam vegetables. Cheap dinner, and healthy.
Very MANLY, not very many.
A rice cooker is worth the money. Between rice and steamed vegetables you're all set, or at least you won't starve. A blender is great if you like smoothies. Or blended margaritas (chicks dig blended margaritas). Also good for crepe batter, but that's another story.

>steaming vegetables
>not sauteing them
Are you some sort of cuck?
Can somebody give me a good receipe for Frittatensuppe, pretty please?
>>9086057
>make suppe
>add frittaten
>>9086057
It's a normal beef stock with sliced pancakes. Make the pancakes thinner, something between Pancake and Crepe and chop it to stripes. Put in bowl and add beef stock.
>>9086057
cut them thinner than in your pic and add one of the carrots you cooked in the soup

Hi /ck/
anyone like chinese tea?
I really like it and I used to get it cheap from aliexpress, but now I'm running out of tea and I just found ali wont fucking deal with tea anymore, fuck, I had 3 trust worthy stores there and 2 of them don't exist anymore.
where do you buy your tea?
most stores seem to be overpriced and their products are not much better from what I could find on ali.
also my favorite is long jing, I prepare it with a gaiwan and do 6 steeps with the same leaves, no sugar
Just go to an Asian grocery store and get some loose tea. Pick up 4 different containers and you should like one of them.
>>9085869
There is just a small asian mall near me and it was full of korean people, they all gave me weird looks and I can't read shit in the packages.
What are the best prepared foods you can get at Safeway?
>>9085695
roast chicken and hot meatloaf
i like their Chicken Caesar Salad from the deli, also the Asian Chicken Salad when they have it. Everything else is shit.
Any opinions re: wings?
