I made my first biscuits from scratch. Used 1/2 of Alton Brown's recipe, substituting bacon grease for shortening and milk/vinegar mix for buttermilk. Came out great.

Nice
But bacon AND sausage? You need some hash browns with that bitch
>>9120492
>need some hash browns
Or pancakes, but I can only do one carb per meal. Was pretty full with this.
>>9120495
Well, this recipe was really quick and easy. Don't know about his other recipes.
>>9120459
I use his recipe for biscuits and I agree with you. They're the best I've found. Always a nice rise and fluffy. I do use buttermilk usually but I have used a lemon juice/milk mixture that works fine too. I only make them about once a month because I always have to make sausage gravy with them, lol.
My dad is thawing cod fillets on a pan lined and covered with wax paper on the counter top. He plans to bread and fry them later. Will I die if I eat this fish? Or potentially become horribly ill? You're never supposed to thaw at room temp, right?
>>9120437
If you were thawing big ass chicken breasts or a whole frozen bird or something, thawing at room temperature would risk the outside being at room temp for a long time before the centre thawed.
For relatively thin fish fillets, it's no problem.
>>9120437
why not just nuke them? most microwaves have a defrost option.
>>9120437
You'll be fine. I actually just recently realized that my mom always thawed shit at room temperature, I've always heard it's fine as long as you don't do it more than like 2-3 hours
Sup, /ck/?
I'm making ice cream and I would like some advice. Is a ratio of 5:7:8, where 5 is citrus juice, 7 is sugar and 8 is coconut milk, good, or is it too sour? Should It be something more like 3:7:8?
In short, what is the best ratio for fruit base:sugar:dairy/coconut for ice cream?
>>9120422
I'd do 3:7:7 unless the coconut milk is bitter. Always taste your ingredients and adjust accordingly, but most off the shelf coconut stuff is already sweetened.
>>9120428
It's unsweetened. I'll do 3:8:7, and correct from there. Thanks, anon.
>>9120428
A half a shot of vodka makes your ice cream smoother, btw.
Do you buy food from China? Wanted some dried shiitake but they only had Chinese ones and I don't trust them.
>>9120382
I only buy drywall from China because I like fire.
Smokers!
Anyone have/made a smoker? Moving into my new house soon and want to smake a smoker for the back yard. Anybody made one or use one and got any tips/recipes?

Destruction of evidence is a crime man. Also, just because you eliminate the paper trail, does not mean that the digital paper trail is gone. White collar criminals don't generally spend a lot of time locked up.
Just something to think about.
For me, it's a Marlboro Red
Anyone here ever dealt with ARFID/SED? I'm expecting some hate and abuse for making this thread but i've started tackling my eating disorder and i'm looking for ways to experience food properly. I'm considering taking up cooking as a hobby as i am not familiar with a lot of foods due to the disorder. Anyone else have experience with overcoming an eating disorder here? Pic unrelated
Check out my chicago dog. Anyone else Tony's Steamers?
That chup' better be for the fries cunt
>>9120146
Thats actually my drink dude
>>9120143
I was told by a hot dog vendor in Chicago that they don't have ketchup because it "ruins the flavor of the meat"
But loading a bunch of bullshit on the dog like in pic related is OK and totally doesn't overpower the meat, no way.
Chicagoans are retards.
Your honest opinion on Spike?
>>9120141
Used to love it on veggies when I was a kid, but I haven't seen it sold here in years.
Let's talk about crepes.
What are your favorite fillings? Sweet or salty?
I basically just mix egg and flour, milk, butter, salt & sugar and make them on a buttered pan.
I was thinking of mashing some ripe bananas into the batter and filling them with dulce de leche and vanilla ice cream.
>>9120072
We generally do not have crepes in our house hold, but we eat a ton of pancakes.
I do however make a crespelle manicotti. One of my favorites. I like them stuffed with ricotta and spinach.
real crepes are a pain in the ass to make since you're supposed to let the batter sit out
for me, it is the ploy. the best thin pancake.
>>9120072
crepe sammiches are goat crepes with egg and cheese and ham wrapped all up. I've had sweet and savory crepes as well choco chip ice creme crepe and then reuben sandwich crepe. Don't knock it till you try it the texture is so light it works. Just dont go and try and make like a fucking pork belly ramen noodle crepe thing.
I haven't been to this place in like 5 years since I had to move to a country that doesn't have them for work, but now I'm back in Clapistan. What should I get? This will be my first meal in America since leaving.
Fuck off.

That's just sad.

Rate my breakfast /ck/. Took some leftover cooked angel hair pasta, threw it in a pan layered with avacaso oil and a stick of butter, added the herbs and spices shown in the pic on top of it, cracked an egg over, and mixed well for a few minutes
Also i have no idea why that came out sideways. Better pic hopefully
...yeah alright then. You know what? I'm sure you all will be fine with tilting your heads. I'm gonna go figure out why my camera is being a faggot

>stick of butter

OP confirmed as stroking out. Pls call 911
Okay /ck/ a challenge for you.
When I feed my dogs, I give them a bowl of dog food. It tastes good to them, and contains all the nutrients they need without too many calories.
So, in the same theme, how would you make people food?
I know soylent exists, but it's a drink and doesn't taste good.
Easy
Chili with extra vegetables
Would have meat for proteins and fruits and vegetables for vitamins, if you believe you need grains and dairy, put cheese in it and throw crackers in it
>>9119960
Whelp. There goes that.
>>9119952
They already invented a people chow kind of food a long time ago. It's called breakfast cereal. It's a ridiculously similar concept.
>Meat magician prepared the steak well-done
>Must have spices/herbs and why is this a necessity
For me salt/pepper maybe garlic salt is about all you really need
eat your sawdust bread and newspaper salad, europoor
