ITT Actual American citizens dispel myths about our food propagated by jealous Europeans.
>le watery American beer meme
It's not our fault that you ignored all of our delicious craft beer and bought fucking Bud Light.
>le sugary processed American bread meme
Once again, you bought the wrong bread. Go to the bakery (most supermarkets have one) and get a freshly baked loaf. Whole OR pre-sliced. I know for sure that one local market's bread uses only flour, water, yeast, and salt.
>muh plastic cheese meme
We make real cheese, too. We also have all the fancy European cheeses because we import shit. Who'd've thunk it?
>what about tipping? Won't you get anthrax in your food if you don't tip at least 50%?
I don't like tipping, but it's really no biggie. If I get good service, I leave a couple of bucks as a courtesy. Waiters work hard, they deserve it.
Those are the most popular ones. I encourage you to educate the Eurofriends about what it's really like to live in our great nation, my fellow Americans.
So why are you all so fucking obese.
>>9136506
Lot of poor people, lot of cheap fast food, and the culture around it
>>9136497
>We also import European cheese
So it's not american, but European cheese
>If I
It's not about you, it's about the general American public

Can any New Yorkers recommend any good vegan restaurants? I'm open to any suggestions, thank you. :)
>>9146477
I give veganism a light 2
Harlem has a good one on 116th
Lower East side has some jems.
Basically stick to yuppies, rastas, Ethiopians and Buddhists.
Try the front lawn.
Ah, there you are my stinky princess!

what is this?

its smoked garlic. its smoked for a long time and it turns all black. its got a pleasant woody-smoky taste and its nice to eat on its own as well. i scrape a bit on toasted bread and add olive oil and a little sea salt and just eat that. i cant speak for op but i think he likes it too.
he is right though, they are pretty smelly.
Kinda randomly decided to become a vegetarian for my health, weight loss, and to try to trick myself into thinking I have some self-discipline.
Any advice or eating tips?
>>9146191
>Any advice or eating tips?
Don't be a vegetarian.
Lentils stick with lentils
I'm actually going on semi vegan diet in a month. Want to give it a try..
>>9146191
Eat meat instead.
Post and discuss tobacco stuff
I just picked up some red man thinking it would be like natural tobacco leaves, but it's not. Why is this? Are there any all-natural chewing tobaccos out there?

Where the hell am I supposed to post this?
so I just recently discovered pic related. this stuff is amazing. tastes great. goes down smooth with no afterbite like Gatorade. I can (almost) pronounce every ingredient on the label.

Water. Add potassium chloride powder if you're really sweating it out.

>Add potassium chloride powder if you're really sweating it out.
where the fuck would you buy that? GNC? Or Ace Hardware?
>>9145945
Any of you try this yet?
Its been on the market for years and years. I like to drink some after a binge of beer. Hopefully it kills some of the yeast in my gut

Makin' bacon right now. 4lbs porkbelly making roughly 3.3lbs bacon yield, in two batches. This one is seasoned with Tony Chachere's Cajun seasoning.
This one is seasoned with onion powder and garlic powder. Both are cured with Morton's curing salt. A friend's dad gave me half a pound of his homemade bacon and showed me the ropes. The process is piss easy and fairly cheap.
Can elaborate on the process if there's any interest.
I do thirty pounds of bacon every six or eight months. Usually do three or four different flavors. A couple of savory, something sweet and some pancetta. I also don't generally smoke mine as I like to preserve the flavor or whatever I cure it with.
Dose anyone on /ck/ goes to cici's?
I only eat their alfredo pizza. The cheese sticks and desserts are god tier.
It's a damn shame that the restaurants are almost always frequented by hispanics and ghettos doing their collective birthday party for their gaggle of illegitimate children.

work colleague went there on vacation to florida and said it was pretty good for the price
I did with mom and grandparents once or twice. The kids menu was pretty good with mazes and stuff. I don't think I'd return. Pizza Luce offers much better vegan pizzas :^)
It'll have to be from Papa John's though, since they're the only ones I know with extra-large pizzas.
>>9144682
Every local pizza place has X-L you dingus. Usually better than Papa's too.
>>9144682
It's gonna come out limp and soggy, and the toppings are gonna fall off.
>>9144682
I thought Garfield hated anchovies.
Also, that pie's gonna cost like $56.82 knowing how crazy some places can be.
What is the best Jam/Jelly and why is it wild elderberry?
>>9144458
Because that's not blackberry.

why do crustaceans turn red when you cook them?
>>9144288
Wouldn't you be angry?
>>9144292
came here to say this. all that adrenaline makes 'em super pissed
>>9144288
I dunno. Why not start a shitty thread about it with an image that's been used three times in the last week instead of googling it which would take five seconds?
ITT: foods that you like, seek out, or enjoy more than you ordinarily would because of a visual or romantic notion.
For me it's smoked fish. I've seen it so much in relation to other rustic foods I enjoy a lot, and the idea of how archaic and historical it is also appeals to me as a fantasy and history buff.
It doesn't taste bad but I probably wouldn't seek it out just for the taste.
Was thinking about these the other day and where I can get them. Haven't had them since I was a kid.
>>9143744
freely available at even the trashiest grocery store where I live. if you live in a city surely it has a fish market of some kind? or just one shop that gets a delivery of fresh fish? do you live in a desert?
>>9143610
I'm the same way with hard tack. I make some every now and then when I want to pretend to be a brave explorer voyaging to the far corners of the unknown, or a strong adventurer on a noble quest that leads through dangerous lands where no wholesome people dwell, or a grim soldier trudging on to carry out his duty.
Still won't change the fact that it's a biscuit made of flour and salt that's as hard as rock.
I occasionally drive by an Indian Grocery Store on my way to my boyfriend's workplace to pick him up from work. I want to try shopping there sometime, however, I have no experience with Indian food.
What's something nice to get from an Indian grocery store?
>>9143558
Hey what's up :)
>>9143558
Are you a girl? Because you said bf. But if you're a faggot I won't help you. Tits or gtfo
>>9143558
There's basically no way you're going to get a serious reply because both the boyfriend story part of your post and the fact that you're asking about Indian food attract shitposts like flies. I'll try and give some advice even though I've never been to an Indian grocery. I've heard they sell Eastern spices in bulk, which is a great way to stock up on stuff like cinnamon, cumin, cloves, stuff like that. Naan bread is a pretty great flatbread, so if you can buy some of that cheap it's probably a good bet. Other than that, I don't really know. Ethic stores usually have better prices on meat and produce though.
