I have someone bitching at me that I need to make more 'Summer' type foods since its so hot outside. That means less baking and soups and more sandwiches and grilling. What can I make on the grill that isn't boring as fuck and isn't just throwing different meats on it? I need Summer ideas.

Make kebabs of meats and the veggies that go with them.
Grill Peaches and tomatoes until they blister, then dress with Olive oil, balsamic, and fresh herbs.
>>9209894
try "bun cha", famous hanoi dish.
its basically marinated+grilled porkbelly with noodles, a simple sauce, herbs and some quick pickled veg
>>9209911
Thats what I said too but whatever. Might as well try different things.
Hey
I've challenged myself to only eat food in work that I've prepared myself for the next month just to get into the habit of cooking. I've got access to a microwave in work, what are some quick meals I could make at home and reheat in work?
>heating
Just pack a ration and consume at room temperature
>>9209817
Stews and soups, nothing crispy and no whole cuts of meat. Microwave makes meat tough and flavorless.
Vegetables actually do well in the microwave, you can take fresh veggies and use a microwave to steam them.
>>9209838
What this person said. Rice and mashed potatoes also sort of works. Any sort of meat in a rather liquid sauce like stews, chilly, soups, curry. Pasta dishes also tend to work okay if you add a bit of water before microwaving. Baked beans and chickpeas. Peas in general.
I'm thinking of buying one of these electric pots.
I'm a terrible cook.
What things can I cook in this thing to try and get better.
I was thinking indian food or something.
I want food that's really saucy with a lot of things in it.
I just fill mine with oil and use it as a deep fryer. It would be interesting to see some more ideas.
also can I use it as a stir fry maker?
does it get hot enough?
>>9209738
No you cannot stir fry in a pot, dumbass.
who /carrots/ here?
Um. I guess me? I like putting them in a foil pouch with salt and unsalted butter and plopping them on the BBQ.
>>9209678
I love the baby carrots. I eat some for breakfast each morning. They have so much more flavor than the huge old carrots.

Has anyone tasted fluffy japanese cheesecake?
I am a huge fan of "traditional" cheesecake, though I imagine the fluffy version would taste like spongecake with a hint of cream cheese (gross)
lewd
Uncle Tetsu's is good shit. Super light and airy texture without being spongy, kind of like a soft meringue. Jiggles a little bit when you move it, very soft and moist. It tastes more like ricotta cheesecake, definitely kind of an eggy flavour too. Way less gross than it sounds
It has quite a few more eggs (I think 6/7 per 500g of cheese) It doesnt really taste much different and I prefer the denser versions, but its aright
>Freezer - to keep things chill
>Chiller - to keep things frozen

Dumb euro poster

Thoughts on olive loaf? I honestly don't know why anybody would eat bologna when this exists. I like to fry up about four nice slices and eat it on rye with a bit of horseradish
>>9209403
That sounds pretty damn good. Is it real rye bread? Everything around here is wheat bread flavored to be like rye. I like the dark rye even if it's fake.
I'd probably put some mayo on there too to soften the gasoline taste of the horseradish.
>>9209434
Interesting alchemy of condiments, I like your creativity
>>9209403
I loved this as a kid. I've since lost my taste for balogna though.
Went into my local pizza joint today and saw them cutting my pizza with a scissors. Turned around and walked back out of the shop. There's no way in fuck I'm condoning their hipster shit no matter how good the pizza tastes.
>>9209396
Pizza scissors predate even chopsticks you dumb pleb
>>9209396
Too bad, that crust looked delicious
>>9209401
>Pizza scissors predate even chopsticks you dumb pleb
Nobody ever ate pizza with chopsticks.
I tried to get crunchy chips in oven, didn't work. I cut them to pieces, boiled them until soft, tossed in bit of olive oil, turn the oven to 190C, cooked on oven tray. Sides of the chips touching the tray browned but they didn't crisp up. How to get crispy/crunchy chips in oven? Pic semi related.
by stopping being a pussy and deep frying them.
>>9209382
Crispy = no moisture
You have to use super dry potatoes like russets
You have to flip while cooking to colour all sides
Dry your potatoes thoroughly after boiling
Salt the boiling water thoroughly and then rinse your potatoes afterwards, this extracts and removes starch that holds on to moisture
>>9209389
I mostly cook for my little niece, she doesn't like deep fried food.
Where can I buy cultured meat?
Probably Germany. They have culture coming out the wazooihad.
>>9209363
Seconding this and adding Sweden.
Very culturally enriched countries.
>>9209354
Just take regular meat and make it listen to Mozart.
What's the best subway sandwich combo?
I like the chicken teriyaki and shotgun in the mouth combo.
12 inch italian herbs and spices with salami and chicken fillet, onion, jalapeno, capsicum olives and cyanide
Turkey with pepper jack, tomatoes, onions, lettuce, and honey mustard
Who here /garbage plate/
>>9209223
It's true to its name at least.
>>9209223
what all is in that?
>>9209236
I'd say mac, home fries, chili, sausage and onion (+mustard)
Left was cooked in mayonnaise, right was cooked in butter.
Which do you prefer?
Honestly I probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference in a blind taste test.
I wanna say the mayo one is a bit crisper but the butter one is a bit more flavorful.
As it cooled off, the mayo-cooked one started to taste a little off, almost sour.
I think I'll be sticking with butter.
Case closed!

>Cooking things in mayonnaise
My amazing powers of divination are telling me that you are from.... The USA. Am I correct?
>>9209095
The paper plate didn't give it away?
Anyway I got the idea from here.
I'd never heard of cooking cheese sandwiches in mayo. I always used butter.
Im new to cooking in general.
I have an electric pressure cooker, I just made a batch of apple butter and it turned out pretty great.
How long will it stay good in the fridge?
Its just apples vinegar and spices thrown into a pressure cooker, so I imagine no preservatives means it wont last a long time?
>Vinegar.
>Not a preservative.
Also.
>Vinegar.
>Not using some applejack.
>>9209034
>>Vinegar.
>>Not a preservative.
Oh
>>Not using some applejack.
I was just following the recipe because I keep fucking meals up with this thing.
Nobody seems to really have an answer on how long its acceptable to let it sit in the fridge. A bunch of "i ate 6 month old stuff and didnt die" sort of things
>>9209067
If you canned it properly, it should last a fair while. 6 months + is reasonable. Use common sense, if it smells off or has something growing inside when you open it then obviously dont eat it.
>unironically using plain salt in any dish when stuff like anchovies, soysauce, and fish sauce exist
step up your umami game faggots
>>9208996
"""""umami""""" doesn't exist.
>>9209006
It's monosodium glutamate you moron.
