How do I coat hot rolls evenly with tempura batter and panko? There's always spots that doesn't get coated or the coat is too thick...
>>9197237
Mix it in a food processor on a low speed. Add that mixture to a pyrex or similar shallow dish and roll them until coated.
>>9197246
I do that but I mix it with an egg beater. The mixture is smooth but when I roll them they never get coated evenly.
>>9197256
Then they were on the counter too long. Fridge that shit or use ice water for your tempura to keep it super cold.
Jackass.
Is there a better cooking/baking show?

Hi /ck/,
I want to eat better and get more greens in my diet but I'm also lazy and don't like buying fresh produce since it usually goes to waste before I can consume it. So the best alternative seems to be frozen vegetables. What are your favorite frozen veggie brands and items. Is pic related a good choice?
some is?
avoid the ones that are loaded with fats, salt, their own special seasoning, and "butter" toppings
avoid mixes in general, just buy straight up and look at the ingredient
>>9197166
What this anon said. Frozen veggies can actually be more rich in nutrients compared to their "fresh" supermarket brethren because they are picked at the height of their ripeness. Just avoid mixes and don't ever buy anything with "sauce" on it.

My wife does it and I have to fight the urge to vomit every time.

A friend of mine was arguing that 'beer brewing has little to no technique, it's just getting the right ingredients and following the right steps. It has no complexity compared to cooking'
I know about the potential complexities of having a beer (colour, carbonation, etc.), but I didn't have the necessary information to refute him RE: techniques without making assumptions.
What are the complexities of technique involved in brewing a quality beer?

There's no depth to cooking either. That's why it doesn't pay well.
>>9196319
this is true only up to the point where you're good enough to get into cooking for entertainment (i.e., fine dining).
people don't go to a nice restaurant because they're hungry; they want to be entertained. it's the same as musician or dancer or any kind of performance art.
that shit pays well.. i make more as a high school dropout with no education than most people i know who went to college.

What's the worst chain restaurant to work at? My vote is wafflehouse. Short order cooking is terrible, you have an audience of people watching while you try not to fuck up a ton of orders, and the pay sucks.
My place(not a chain, thought it would make discussion easier and more relatable with them tho) is laid back, above average pay for cooks in my city and great hours.
There's always a better spot than yours that's hiring. Why stick around at a place so terrible?
I like waffle house but I'd never even consider working there I'd rather go mickeydees and they are god awful
Yeah Waffle House must be pretty terrible to work at.
You have to somewhat actually cook shit, but you get paid like a McDonald's dick.

A friend picked up a job there part time for spending cash and quit after 2 weeks. Said coworkers would abandon him, rush hour is pure hell etc. Told me they were understaffed as fuck so mostly it was him solo trying to bang out dishes. Don't blame the guy. I assume most people just work there temporarily but I know some stay for years. Like what's the incentive for them? Heard they give periodic raises but goddamn they can't be that much
There's a shitload of waffle houses around my area, I salute you masochist bastards for making my breakfast at 3 am when I'm shitfaced. Real American heroes
Also niggers, let's not forget the niggers
lets be honest here how confident are you in your cooking? are you a fucking donkey or a sweetheart?
Why would I not be confident? I'm not a chef, I cook at home. I know enough about ingredients and seasoning to not make something that tastes like pillock drippings. I can time stuff. This is pretty much all you need.
